Javi Marroquin just can’t catch a break, huh?
Sure, he’s not perfect by any means, and he was responsible for a lot of what went wrong in his marriage to Kailyn Lowry, despite the fact that many people like to portray him as the biggest victim in the Teen Mom universe.
But still, it must have been hard for him to come home from his deployment to find that his wife, who had shown interest in working things out with him, had already moved on.
And it must have really stung when, just a few months later, she wound up pregnant.
Of course, that doesn’t excuse his behavior — as Kailyn tells it, he was so aggressive after finding out about the pregnancy she was forced to file an order of protection against him.
But honestly, it’s understandable that he’d be upset over everything that went down, hence the “poor Javi” stuff.
And now, after hearing some of the things Kailyn just said about him in a new interview, we’ll be “poor Javi”-ing for the foreseeable future …
For some reason, the subject of Javi came up in one of the many, many chats Kailyn has had with Radar Online since giving birth to her new baby boy.
And the things she said about him are more than a little confusing.
For starters, she said “I don’t see a reason for him to be involved other than knowing and acknowledging that this is Lincoln’s half sibling.”
“That being said, on my end, there is no bad blood. But I don’t think there is any reason for him to necessarily be involved.”
… OK?
Like, why does that even need to be said? Why would Javi have any sort of relationship with Baby Lo?
He’s so close with Isaac because he was his stepfather. They lived together, he helped raise him, all that makes sense.
It’s actually kind of weird that she would even make a statement like that, because of course Javi won’t be involved. It wouldn’t make sense for him to be.
She’s making it sound like he wants to get in with Baby Lo, or that she’s adamant about keeping him away from the baby, which seems a little shady.
Kailyn also revealed that Javi called her after she had the baby, and “I didn’t ask how he was handling it. But he did say congratulations.”
Sweet, huh?
As for the legality of it all, it looks like Javi is assumed to be Baby Lo’s father: in Delaware, if a woman gives birth to a child less than 300 days after a divorce is finalized, her ex-husband is presumed to be the father.
To fix this, Javi has to file a form denying paternity, and then Chris Lopez has to file another form acknowledging paternity.
“Javi is not the father,” Kailyn said. “Chris is the father so I think we’re all going to work together to make sure everything is taken care of and that that’s established.”
Speaking of Chris and the fact that he’s the father, it sounds like Kailyn is still a little uncertain about how big of a role he’ll play in their child’s life.
“Every child deserves their dad,” she said. “I’m hopeful. I’m positive he’ll be around.”
“I think he has been as supportive as he can,” she added. “He does the best to his ability even though it doesn’t necessarily meet the standards of what everyone else expects of him.”
“I think people need to keep that in mind.”
That doesn’t sound too promising, does it?
Best of luck to Kailyn though. With everything.
It sounds like she’s going to need it.
