2018 is still very young, but it’s already demonstrated that it has a lot in common with most two-week-olds–namely, it’s obnoxious, and it produces a whole lot of sh-t.
Right out of the gate, this year has been giving 2017 a run for its money for the title of Most Excruciating Trip Around the Sun.
So it should come as no surprise that the public is desperate for the faintest glimmer of hope–or that they’ve turned to Brad Pitt and Jennnifer Aniston to provide that hope.
Yes, as you may have heard, rumors of Pitt and Aniston getting back together have been everywhere lately.
A few ambitious peddlers of tabloid fan fiction have even gone so far as to claim that Jen and Justin Theroux are headed for divorce and that it’s totally his fault for being a douche.
Now you don’t have to feel guilty about rooting for a Brad and Jen reconciliation!
It’s a tactic that was used to great effect by screenwriters of ’90s romantic comedies.
Anyway, we may have to wait a while for the Lifetime movie in which a movie star leaves his endearing sitcom actress wife for an evil humanitarian, but then eventually sees the error of his ways and comes crawling back.
Fortunately, the folks at Life & Style are offering plenty of Brad and Jen wish fulfillment in the meantime:
The tabloid claims that Pitt and Aniston are “giving their love a second shot.”
“Brad and Jen have bonded like never before over the past year,” one insider tells the mag.
“And they’ve been helping each other through their respective troubles.”
The source goes on to say:
“If the stars align, Brad and Jen could end up remarried.”
That’s about as non-committal as it gets, but believe it or not, L&S isn’t even standing by that eye-roll-inducing assertion.
After being called out by Gossip Cop and a number of other outlets, the outlet removed the Brad and Jen piece from its website, a rare precaution in the world of tabloid media.
Look is it possible that Brad and Jen will get back together at some point?
We suppose.
Is it likely?
Absolutely not.
In fact, Jen and Justin just rang in the new year together in Mexico.
So we guess that’s another way that 2018 is like a toddler–it will constantly overwhelm you with a profound sense of disappointment.
