We don’t say this very often.
We typically say the exact opposite, of course.
But here goes, folks…
… Kim Kardashian deserves your praise.
The mother of three, who usually makes headlines for talking about her weight or for posing in very little clothing, focused on something other than herself this past weekend.
She and Kanye West attended the March for Our Lives in Washington D.C.
One of hundreds of organized protests around the country in favor of sensible gun control legislation, this March for Our Lives brought hundreds of thousands of people together in support of a worthy cause.
(This is just our opinion, of course. But it’s the right one.)
It’s actually a cause Kim has spoken out about in the past, as she released a statement just days after the horrific school shooting in Florida last month that read as follows:
We owe it to our children and our teachers to keep them safe while at school. Prayers won’t do this: action will.
Congress, please do your job and protect Americans from senseless gun violence.
We have no snarky comment to make about that remark.
We can only nod in agreement.
Back in June of 2016, Kardashian also slammed Congress for failing to act on this issue, while she spent time a month later with victims of gun violence.
This is one subject about which Kim uses her platform for good.
Which brings us back to the March for Our Lives.
This is what Kardashian wrote as a caption to the photo above:
What an amazing day yesterday to take my daughter to Washington DC to see our future leaders speak.
Having my daughter march along-side her grandfather and parents was a day I hope she remembers forever.
I know that the younger generation will vote to change these gun laws that so desperately need to be changed.
Hearing these stories yesterday and meeting so many families affected by gun violence was heart breaking and I hope when it comes time to vote we all step up and vote to protect our children.
And then there was this message, which Kim attached to the snapshot immediately above:
I’m so happy I got to share this moment with these two. I hope North remembers this forever.
We don’t really have anything to even really add here.
We simply salute Kim and Kanye for taking this action with their children.
They weren’t alone in doing so, of course.
Other celebrities who took part in Marches around the country included George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Paul McCartney, Amy Schumer and MANY others.
“Today I met two survivors from the Parkland Florida school shooting, @mia.freeman and @hayleylicata,” Tweeted Charlie Puth, for instance, adding:
“The amount of bravery shown today from these girls and everyone in attendance…I have no words. #marchforourlives.”
And Camila Cabelo:
“#MarchOfOurLives it’s so powerful and emotional….
“looking around at all these kids leading us in a fight against violence, nothing seems more powerful than seeing their innocent faces and their eyes filled with pain, filled with a fear they shouldn’t even be thinking about…
“there’s no words to describe the outrage we feel today at what’s happening in our country, but we have a long way to go…. and the fight continues.”
Amen, we say.
