America Ferrera: Pregnant with First Child!

We’re sorry to break this to you, but it doesn’t matter what you did on New Year’s Eve.

You did not have a better December 31 than America Ferrera.

Why?

Because the former Ugly Betty and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star announced that she’s pregnant! With her very first child!

And the Superstore star confirmed this exciting news in very exciting and adorable fashion, sharing the photo below of herself, husband Ryan Piers Williams… and some awesome glasses.

“We’re welcoming one more face to kiss in 2018! Wishing you #MásBesos in the New Year! #babybesos#HappyNewYear,” wrote Ferrera as a caption.

Added Williams, along with the same picture:

Making room for new and beautiful things to come in 2018! #happynewyear.

Ferrera and Williams have been together for over 12 years.

They met back when Williams cast Ferrera in his student film while at the University of Southern California.

They then became engaged in June 2010 and got married in 2011.

“We kind of connected from the get-go on that professional level and that was something that really drew us to each other,” the actress told People Magazine several years ago.

She added at the time that they possess “a shared passion for what we do and our work.”

We are so very happy for Ferrera and Williams.

Back in October, the star opened up about a very troubling experience from her past, while she has also always been an outspoken voice on important social topics.

It’s unclear at the moment just when she is due and whether she will have a boy or a girl.

Either way, we send America our best wishes!

This is so very exciting!

America Ferrera Details Sexual Assault as 9-Year Old

In light of the allegations surrounding Harvey Weinstein, more and more women are coming forward with their personal stories of sexual harassment and assault.

Take America Ferrera, for instance.

The veteran actress has opened up on Instagram about a horribly traumatic experience that befell her at the age of nine.

As part of the #MeToo movement – in which women across the Internet share their stories of sexual harassment or assault – the former Ugly Better star revealed that she was once attacked by a much older man.

She opened her social media entry by writing “Me Too,” acknowledging that can relate to the many other females who have been victimized in some way.

She then explained as follows:

“First time I can remember being sexually assaulted I was 9-years-old.

“I told no one and lived with the shame and guilt thinking all along that I, a 9-year-old child, was somehow responsible for the actions of a grown man.”

Making matters so much worse for the Superstore actress?

She had to then be around the perpetrator.

“I had to see this man on a daily basis for years to come,” the star continued.

“He would smile at me and wave, and I would hurry past him, my blood running cold, my guts carrying the burden of what only he & I knew — that he expected me to shut my mouth and smile back.”

Concluded Ferrera, sending a message to other members of her gender:

“Ladies, let’s break the silence to the next generation of girls won’t have to live with this bullsh-t.”

Also known for her role in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Ferrera has long been outspoken when it comes women’s rights.

In January, she spoke at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., telling People Magazine at the time that she planned to continue fighting for human rights after the march ended.

“I think it’s time for all of us to widen our perspective and widen our circle of what matters to us and what causes we take up,” she said.

“Really at the core of many causes is human dignity. And that is what we share in this fight to be seen and to be valued.”

Ferrera was inspired back then to speak out because Donald Trump was elected President.

This time, the unfortunate issue at play is the likely fact that Weinstein, the best known producer in Hollywood, harassed and raped multiple women over the years.

Stars such as Ashley Judd has spoken out against him of late and Weinstein has been fired from his studio, the Weinstein Company.

He’s also been kicked out of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences; and his wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, has announced she’s leaving him.

Weinstein has claimed he’ll seek treatment for a sex addiction and hopes to earn a second chance in Hollywood.

The guy is a monster.

MTV Apologizes For Racist Eva Longoria-America Ferrera Tweet

There was plenty of controversy to be stirred by the 2016 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.

Like when Ricky Gervais confronted Mel Gibson about that whole “sugar tits” thing.

Or when Leonardo DiCaprio possibly threw some shade at Lady Gaga.

Or, heck, pretty much any time Gervais opened his mouth during his opening monlogue.

At one point during the ceremony, meanwhile, MTV Australia decided to get in on the scandalous act.

It all started when Eva Longoria and America Ferrera came out to present the award for Best TV Actor in a Drama.

The actresses engaged in a very well-received bit about Latina stereotypes, an exchange likely inspired by the Golden Globes’ own mistake when the show’s Twitter account referred to Ferrera as “Gina Rodriguez” when she announced the nominations back in November.

After viewing the presentation, MTV Tweeted in an attempt at humor:

“Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying #GoldenGlobes.”

The backlash came quickly and strongly, with MTV deleting the message and then offering up the following apology:

“Our Tweet was in reference to @EvaLongoria & @AmericaFerrera’s #GoldenGlobes joke. We sincerely apologise for causing offence.

“We get it was a bad call. We’ll leave the humour to @rickygervais.”

It’s like they always say: you can joke about almost anything.

But the most controversial the territory, the funnier the joke better be,

Check out Longoria and Ferrera’s humorous interaction above and then drool over all the impressive red carpet fashion below:
