Zander Venezia Dies; Professional Surfer Perishes in Hurricane Irma
Zander Venezia, a rising star in the professional surfing world, was killed on Tuesday while trying to ride a wave in Barbados during Hurricane Irma.
He was 16 years old.
According to the outlet Surfcide, Venezia – a native of Bridgetown, Barbados – was surfing a severe break known as “Box by Box” on the Caribbean island’s east side when he was caught by a closeout set of waves that drove him straight to the shallow, rocky bottom.
It was then that he smacked his head on the reef… was knocked unconscious … and drowned.
Just to weeks ago, the teenager won the $ 250 top prize at the Rip Curl Grom Search in North Carolina.
“Super happy to take the win at the @ripcurl_usa Grom Search in Outer Banks,” Venezia wrote as a caption to the above image at the time.
Venezia was in his native land with fellow surfers Nathan Florence, Dylan Graves, Balaram Stack and Asher Nolan, along with photographers Daniel Russo and Jimmy Wilson.
Stab Magazine reports that they had all flown in to island to surf Irma’s swell.
Irma has been classified as a Category 5 storm.
Experts believe it is on track to be the most powerful and damaging hurricane to ever form over the Atlantic Ocean, as nearly the entire state of Florida has been evacuated in response.
But back to Venezia:
On Tuesday morning, Florence was the first person to notice Venezia’s board floating in the water.
He rushed over to see what had happened and came upon Venezia’s limp body, still underwater and being hit hard by the building surf.
Former Bajan professional-turned-surf instructor Alan Burke explained to Surfcide that Florence screamed for assistance, attempting to get a bleeding and unresponsive Venezia to the shore safely.
“They tried to get him to the beach quickly, which was difficult,” Burke said.
“Box by Box is a tough place to get in and out of, even if you have the ability. There’s lots of big rocks around, and some stick out of the water.”
He continued as follows:
“When they finally did get him in, they performed CPR on the beach.
“The ambulance came really swiftly from Speightstown, and the whole drive Nathan Florence, Dylan Graves and the paramedics continued to try and revive him.
“But once they got him to the hospital, Zander was breathing, but not responsive. From the time Nathan got to him in the water to when they arrived at the hospital, it was about 75 minutes of nonstop CPR.”
Venezia died at the hospital, surrounded by his parents and sister.
“This saddens me in a way that my stomach actually hurts,” said friend Patrick Ruddy on instagram, adding:
“I’m floored by the news this morning that our good friend @zandervenezia passed away doing what we all love, surfing at home and enjoying the ocean.
“It’s times like this I reflect on how fragile life really is, and how quickly it can be taken away. Zander you’re gonna be really f—— missed!”

Dallas McCarver, Professional Bodybuilder, Dies from Choking
Dallas McCarver, a world famous bodybuilder who rose to national prominence in 2011, tragically died this week after choking on food at his Florida home.
He was 26 years old.
Standing at 6’1” tall and weighing close to 300 pounds, McCarver finished first in the NPC Hub City Fitness Quest Junior Heavyweight category six years ago.
A member of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, McCarver was known as “Big Country” and had over 472,000 Instagram followers at the time of his passing.
According to McCarver’s girlfriend, WWE Superstar Dana Brooke, the bodybuilder was found unconscious Monday night by a friend at his home shortly after they spoke on the phone.
Brooke tells TMZ that McCarver told her he was about to make some dinner and that the final thing he said to her was:
“I love you. Goodbye.”
Brooke explains to the celebrity gossip site that McCarver died after choking on food… that there does not appear to be signs of foul play… and that there’s no indication McCarver was trying to harm himself.
He was in the gym working out just a few hours before the incident took place.
“We are shocked and saddened by this and pass our immediate thoughts and condolences to Dallas McCarver’s family and loved ones,” Tweeted RXMuscle.com in response to the sad news.
Just last year, McCarver placed eighth in the 2016 Mr. Olympia competition.
He was considered one of the sport’s brightest and youngest stars.
In March of this year, McCarver collapsed on stage at the 2017 Arnold Classic Australia, but there were no signs afterward of any long-term or significant health problems.
We don’t believe this fall played any role in his death.

On Monday, the beloved Little People, Big World star posted a couple new snapshots of herself, her baby Jackson and her husband, Zach Roloff.
They were snapped by a professional photographed named Dawn (@dawn_photo on Instagram) and Roloff made a point to acknowledge the artist while placing the pictures online for all to enjoy.
“Okay I officially bawled going through our photos that @dawn_photo took for our family!” wrote the mother of one as a caption to the image above, adding:
“Thank you so much girl for these BEAUTIFUL photos. How you got us all to look that good, on a 95° day with a baby who was completely over it, is beyond me!
“We will treasure these photos forever!”
Added Tori in regard to the still below:
“I can not wait to plaster these photos all over my house. I am literally dying over how perfect they are! @dawn_photo you are a miracle worker!

The Roloffs, overall, have been fortunate enough to take part in multiple occasions of late that have called for the use of a professional photographer.
On August 5, for example, Molly Roloff married Joel Silivius at her family’s farm in Oregon.
Just two weeks prior to this big event, Audrey Roloff posed for a gorgeous maternity shoot.
Tori’s sister-in-law and brother Jeremy are expecting their first child any day now, with loved ones and long-time fans of the couple anxious to meet this little girl.
She’ll be cousins to little Jackson, whose cuteness has captured the attention of the Internet ever since he was born on May 12.
“Mood when your dad is gone for a week and doesn’t even come back with a soccer medal…” joked father Zach as a caption to the following photo of his child:
Late last week, meanwhile, it was confirmed that filming on a new season of Little People, Big World is underway.
We don’t know the premiere date on TLC, but matriarch Amy Roloff previously hinted that new episodes would start to air in September.
Expect to see plenty of Jackson on the upcoming season, along with insight into Audrey’s pregnancy journey.

Kanye West Debuts Blonde Hair, Proves He Still Needs Professional Help
Note to Kim Kardashian:
Get out while you still can.
Your husband has clearly lost it and while you may still love him very much, it simply can’t be healthy to remain in this marriage.
We no longer blame you for meeting with a divorce attorney and contemplating a legal split from Kanye West.
The rapper, after all, made his first public appearance on Thursday since spending nine days in UCLA Medical Center under close supervision due to a nervous breakdown of some kind.
He was spotted at the Rick Owens: Furniture exhibition at the MOCA Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, with Italian artist Giovanni Leonardo Bassan sharing a photo of West’s outing on Instagram later that day.
And West now has blonde hair.
The image features Kanye in very casual clothing: a grey sweater, black jeans and white sneakers.
Which is perfectly fine and everything. Whatever. Be comfortable, man
But we can’t get over the dyed locks on top of his head.
Did he really learn nothing from the time Kardashian went blonde and became the butt of even more jokes than usual online?
Sorry, we know Kanye is having some problems right now and probably doesn’t need to hear this.
But the guy looks ridiculous.
This public appearance took place 17 days after he entered a hospital for treatment.
West was admitted as a patient after he allegedly got into a confrontation with a gym employee, which prompted his personal physician to call 911 out of fear that Kanye might hurt himself or someone else.
He was released from UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital on November 30, having even spent Thanksgiving Day at the facility.
The incident with the gym employee followed a handful of other bizarre incidents.
There was the time he insulted Beyonce on stage… the time he only sang three songs and then ended a concert… and then the subsequent cancelation of the remainder of his Saint Pablo Tour.
Insiders have said Kanye is not dealing well with the stress and pressure that has resulted from Kardashian getting robbed at gunpoint in Paris on October 3.
The anniversary of his mother’s death also took place on November 21, with sources saying West has never properly mourned her passing.
But while the state of Kanye’s mind was called into question for awhile, the issue now at stake and on the Internet is the state of Kanye’s marriage.
Numerous stories have appeared on the World Wide Web of late, all of which have claimed that Kim and Kanye have grown apart since the unfortunate robbery in France.
They are living apart at the moment (for safety reasons, due to Kanye’s breakdown and everything) and neither has issued a statement denying reports that Kardashian is leaving West.
E! News swears this isn’t the case, however.
It quoted a source last week who acknowledged Kim “has many things on her plate” these days and is very “overwhelmed.”
HOWEVER: “She wants to get Kanye back on his feet. She is not leaving him. She loves him.”
Contrast this claim, however, with an In Touch Weekly source who says that Kardashian has already had divorce documents drawn because she “is miserable and wants this marriage to be over.”
Until we hear from one or both of these stars, we’re not sure what to believe.
Except when it comes to Kanye’s blonde hair, that is.
We know exactly what to believe in that case. Which is this:
The dude clearly needs major professional help. That look is whack.

Catelynn Lowell: THIS is Why I Need Professional Help
Those who watch Teen Mom OG online witnessed Farrah going off on her boyfriend this week, along with Maci going wedding gown shopping.
But they also witnessed something very sad and very personal:
Catelynn Lowell admitted she needed to seek “extra help” for her ongoing battle with anxiety.
What prompted this decision?
Shortly after the latest installment of this reality series aired, Lowell sat down to discuss her issues with MTV News.
“I decided I needed to get help from talking with [my husband], Tyler, and realizing that I maybe needed something more intense for myself,” explained the 24-year old.
Loyal Teen Mom viewers are well aware that Catelynn has battled anxiety and depression for years now.
It’s been one of the more dramatic storylines on the program.
“For some reason, I just had a lightbulb moment where I was like, ‘Maybe I need extra help,"” Lowell says in the following clip.
On this past Monday night’s episode, the Michigan native hit a tipping point after she bought a $ 3,000 miniature pig… much to Tyler’s surprise and dismay.
As Catelynn said to an MTV producer named Jessica on air, the new responsibility of caring for the small farm animal sent her over the edge.
She really should not have made the purchase.
“I just feel like I need help. ‘Cause I wasn’t really feeling good this morning, and I was having a little bit of anxiety last night,” Lowell said on the program, prior to detailig how her husband was concerned about her.
“I just broke down and I was like, ‘You know what, I’m not OK … I do need mental help, something’s just not right,"” she said.
In March of this year, Lowell entered rehab in Arizona to focus on her mental health.
“I went for just mental illness, panic attacks and depression and I was there for 30 days,” she told OK! Magazine in the spring, adding:
“It went well, they taught me lots of different things, I learned lots of good things.”
But she knew it didn’t mean she was just instantly all better or anything.
“Obviously it was going to be a work in progress, but as of now, things are going really good,” she said.
“I think the plus of me being so open and honest about it is it shows the truth of what it looks like to struggle with postpartum depression, and not even just postpartum depression, but also depression and panic attack disorder which I have.”
Catelynn added on Monday’s episode that she also plans to “quit smoking pot.”
The mother of two (one of whom she gave up for adoption) has kept fans apprised of her progress and her status throughout her journey.
“Just wanted to know I’m doing great! Best decision I have ever made for myself,” she tweeted in April of her first rehab stint. “I’ll b home soon #thankyouforyoursupport.”
It’s unclear at the moment just how or where she’ll seek the extra assistance she admits she now needs.
But we wish her the best.
Owning up to one’s problem is an important first step. Let’s all hope Catelynn takes many more soon on her way to better mental health.

Kim Kardashian to Kanye West: Get Professional Help… Or Else!
Don’t let the latest Kim Kardashian and Kanye West photo fool you.
Don’t be duped by Kim’s recent birthday message to her husband.
Things are NOT going very well in Kimye paradise, people.
In fact, according to a new report, they could not going much worse.
For what reason? It all stems from Kanye’s erratic behavior, most notably his recent rant when he appeared as a guest on Ellen.
“I have ideas that could make the human race’s existence within our country better,” he said on the show a few weeks ago.
“Period. The paparazzi, whatever perception you have of me, starting with the truth, started with what everyone’s thinking, start there, put some dope sh-t with it.”
This, of course, was not exactly the first time Kanye has gone off in ridiculous, hilarious fashion.
Hilarious to us, that is. To Kim? Not so much.
“Kim [has] watched Kanye struggle for years, not just with his rage but also with a lack of focus that’s causing major troubles at home,” an insider tells Radar Online.
As a result, with West spiraling further and further out of control, the same source claims Kardashian has put her foot down.
She has supposedly ordered Kanye to receive medical treatment.
“He has no other choice really, because he refuses to go back to anger management and regular therapy hasn’t stopped the problem,” Radar writes.
We’re not entirely sure what that means, of course.
Kanye has “no other choice,” meaning Kim would divorce him if he shot down her proposal?
We somehow doubt that.
But the source concludes that Kim has won this debate.
“The next step is to sit him down with a psychiatrist, which Kanye’s reluctantly accepted is probably for the best.”
We’ll believe this when we see it.
