Married at First Sight: Which Couples are Still Hitched?

On last week’s season finale of Married at First Sight, viewers were stunned to learn that all three couples decided to stay married.

Yes, even Danielle and Cody.

Despite the fact that she barely wants to hold her husband’s hand.

A week after revealing the fate of its six stars, the Lifetime reality show aired a reunion special, which was filmed six months after these twosome chose to remain husband and wife.

All this time later, and considering all the problems some of these couples encountered, there’s no way each marriage is still going strong, right?

WRONG!

Despite not sounding very into each other – and despite STILL NOT HAVING HAD ANY SEX! – Danielle and Cody have not split up, the reality star said on the special.

“I still just don’t feel in love, I think, so it’s very hard for me to totally embrace it,” Danielle said in regard to the pair’s total lack of a sex life.

Danielle and Cody met and married at the Palmer House Hilton in August 2016. They went on a honeymoon in the Caribbean afterward and then moved in together.

Listening to the pair not exactly gush over each other, the trio of Married at First Sight brought up Danielle’s dogs and congratulated Cody for being a “good dad” to them.

So at least this marriage now makes sense: Danielle is still in it because she’s found herself a high quality dog sitter!

Let’s talk about Sheila and Nate now.

They are living with Nate’s younger brother and still together.

Sheila says life has been easier ever since cameras stopped following them around everywhere.

“Nate and I entered this process with a lot of hope and a lot of optimism, but we were definitely individuals and I think that we have definitely assimilated and we are one,” she said during the reunion, adding:

“I love this man and when you have two people who want it this badly, I think that our future is going to be amazing.”

And now we wrap up with Ashley and Anthony.

They are living near Ashley’s sister, which was an issue early in their marriage, but which seems to have now worked itself out.

Despite a few rumors to the contrary, they are NOT expecting their first child.

“We still have awhile for that,” Ashley said. “It’s in the future, it’s going to happen, but not yet.”

To conclude the reunion, all three couples sat down together to answer questions from viewers.

We didn’t learn a ton from this gathering, except that Sheila really loves make-up sex.

Also, Ashley is working on being more adventurous, while Cody and Danielle are simply committed to the whole “building intimacy” thing.

Forget the make-up sex. They need to just start with basic sex and work their way up (or down, if you know what we mean!) from there.

We wish them the best of luck.

NOTE: Married at First Sight Season 6 will feature three couples from Boston. But Lifetime has not yet announced a premiere date.

Married at First Sight Finale: Who Stayed Together?!?

For better, worse or the end of a reality TV show season?

That was the question posed on last night’s finale of Married at First Sight, as Anthony D’Amico and Ashley Petta; Cody Knapek and Danielle DeGroot; and Nate Duhon and Sheila Downs all sat down and had to decide if they wanted to stay hitched…

… or file for divorce from their partner.

Let’s start with Cody and Danielle, shall we?

The issue between these two, as always, boiled down to their sex life. Or their lack of any real action between the sheets.

Danielle expressed irritation to her friend Angie that Cody continually brought up the lack of a spark in their relationship, with Angie keeping it real and telling her pal that eight weeks is actually a pretty long time.

It may say something if Danielle is STILL uncomfortable just giving her husband a kiss or holding his hand.

“I’m going to hold on for as long as I can,” Cody told his own friend, adding that he didn’t know how much longer he could take it.

Later on, the couple exchanged a pair of gifts; a glassware set for Cody and a necklace for Danielle, which she adored.

When it came time to meet with the experts and decide their fate, with basically admitted that they didn’t have feelings of true love. HOWEVER…

“I’ve thought a lot about this,” Danielle said. “We aren’t in a perfect place. It’s been tough at times, [but] “I would like to stay married and keep working.”

Cody smiled upon hearing these words. He agreed. He even got a peck out of Danielle in the end.

“The main thing is that I want both of us to be happier people because we’re in the marriage,” Cody concluded.

What about Ashley and Anthony?

Unlike with Cody and Danielle, there didn’t initially appear to be much drama for these two heading into their meeting with the experts.

Ashley was in a great place, saying the main problem for the couple was “communication,” while Anthony believed their most significant challenge as Ashley’s lack of an open mind.

As for having kids within a year?

Anthony thought that was a crazy idea.

Did this impact Ashley’s decision? Nope! She wanted to stay married!

“Ashley, we’ve had a lot of ups and downs,” Anthony replied, building suspense and adding:

“I couldn’t think of anyone else I would rather spend the rest of my life with. I want to stay married to you. I’m usually not missing words, but right now I am.

“Ashley, I love you.”

Cue the kisses! And the tears! Even from Rachel DeAlto!

Et tu, Sheila and Nate?

Let’s get right to it with this couple:

“This experience was a huge leap of faith and the thing about taking a leap is that you don’t know where you will land,” Sheila said to Nate during their big meeting, concluding:

“I want to be your wife until the day I die.”

Did Nate feel the same way?

He took his wife’s hand in his and replied:

“Eight weeks have been amazing and today is decision day technically, but decision day was when I said, ‘I do.’

“I love you a lot, a lot a lot.”

To the camera, he said their first two months or so together “surpassed” his expectations and then vows to never stop trying with her.

Sheila could only break down in response.

“Crying is what I do,” she said. “You taught me what it means to be loved and you love me so purely and unconditionally and for that I will forever be grateful.”

And that’s a wrap!

Three couples, three happy endings!

Did any of these decisions surprise you?

Married at First Sight Recap: Let"s Talk About Sex, Baby!

Tick… tick… tick…

The countdown was officially on this week for all Married at First Sight couples, as they had one week remaining until they had to make answer a question made famous by The Clash:

Should I stay or should I go?

With just a few days until they had to decide whether they would file for divorce or stay together, Ashley and Anthony got into a fight.

The former got angry at her husband for not yet filling out an application for their new apartment… and then got angry at him all over again for getting angry at her because she was angry at him over this housing mess.

Later over dinner, Anthony expressed concern over their problems communication.

“That scares me the most because we have to make our final decision in a week,” he said.

Did a romantic camp out help salvage the romance? With a tent and wine and chocolate? Yes, to the extent that Ashley was appreciative.

But no, not for anyone waiting for Anthony to say he loved his wife.

This is yet to happen.

The relationship between Nate and Sheila may be in an even worse place, however.

“I am done!” she yelled at one point. “Be done with me because I am done with you! I don’t want to be with someone like you, period! Now I am going to end the marriage.”

She didn’t technically do so, however, although Sheila did later go off to the camera, saying this union was “a complete and utter failure.”

For his part, Nate just seemed exhausted as he admitted that he thought it was “the end” of his marriage.

Enter Pastor Calvin Roberson, led the reality stars through a conversation about what had transpired between them.

Sheila insisted that Nate had forever betrayed her trust, but Roberson said that wasn’t the case.

“You don’t believe that,” he told Sheila, urging her to reconsider her position.

Her response? She simply walked out.

But Nate eventually called, apologized and have Sheila a plant as some kind of peace offering.

“If you’ll have me, I want to be with you forever,” she said, leading to Nate saying those big three words and Sheila asking him to kiss her already.

So, all is good?

Not quite. With things relatively calm, Nate later suggested that it would help if Sheila learned to control her anger, to which she replied that maybe he ought to give her some space when they fought.

At least they’ve had sex, though!

The same can’t be said for Cody and Danielle.

“Our sex life definitely needs to progress if we do want to stay married and both of us will be happy,” Cody said last night, adding that he was ready for marriage, yet admitting that both he and Danielle had things they definitely had to work on if they were going to stick together.

He somehow determined that a trip to Milwaukee would get the pair out of its “rut” and maybe get them into bed.

Danielle didn’t really want to get physical, however, although she did like watching Cody play pool and said they had “mostly good times” at a brewery.

“Ninety percent of this has been good,” Cody added.

He’s probably ramp that evaluation up by like 10 percent if he could just go home, bend Danielle over and… nevermind.

During a walk, which included some hand-holding, Cody brought up the lack of sex thing, which prompted Danielle to say she was frustrated by the topic and Cody to conclude in a confessional:

“It’s tough. I don’t know how much more I can really stand or how much I want to stand.

“With decision day right around the corner, maybe it’s just time to call it quits.”

We’ll find out next Thursday night if Danielle puts out or Cody gets out.
