Celine Dion"s Husband, René Angélil Dies of Throat Cancer

Today, Celine Dion’s reps confirmed that her husband, Rene Angelil has died.

“Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” Dion’s team said in a statement to People.

“The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment.”

Angelil has battled the disease three times since 1999;  he had surgery on his throat in 2014 to remove a tumor when the cancer returned a second time.

Angelil and Dion married in a spectacular Quebec wedding ceremony in 1994, and renewed their vows in 2000 in Las Vegas.

Dion had gone into semi-retirement in order to look after her husband, who was about 26 years her senior.

“We have asked [doctors] many times, how long does he have, three weeks, three months? René wants to know,” Dion told USA Today this past August.

“But they say they don’t know.”

Dion recalled her husband’s request to “die” in her arms.

“Okay, fine, I’ll be there,” she recalled telling him.  “You’ll die in my arms.”

Dion has remained remarkably strong throughout.

“You can have your shaking knees at the end, but when someone you love falls and needs help, it’s not time to cry,” she told the newspaper.

“Afterwards, sure. But not yet.”

The music manger is survived by Dion, his sons Rene-Charles, 14, twins Nelson and Eddy, 5, as well as three grown children from a previous marriage, Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.

Jimmy Fallon: NBC Issues Statement About Host"s Drinking Problem

Back in October, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon severely injured his hand for the second time in six months after he took a tumble while swigging Jagermeister during an event at Harvard.

On its own, the accident would’ve hardly been newsworthy, but coming on the heels of rumors about Fallon’s hard partying, as well as a bizarre incident in which he chipped a tooth last August, the fall prompted questions and concerns about Jimmy’s drinking habits.

Shortly after news of Fallin’ Fallon went viral, a rumor that NBC execs were planning to ask Jimmy to got to rehab during the show’s next hiatus began to circulate online.

That didn’t happen (as far as we know), but the fact that the network never came out and denied the reports led many to believe that some higher-ups were, in fact, worried about Fallon’s drinking

Yesterday, some of Fallon’s bosses finally spoke out on the matter at a press event for members of the Television Critics Association, and their were comments were…confusing, to say the least.

“He’s good. He doesn’t have a drinking problem,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Greenblatt. “He goes out and has fun. He’s had some accidents. Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been.”

Perhaps sensing that the crowd could detect the odor of BS emanating from his comments, Greenblatt added:

“Always, we are worried about his safety. There’s been conversations about that. The stories are exaggerated about this.”

So there you have it. Jimmy Fallon’s not a drunk! He just has the occasional accident while he’s “having fun,” and his bosses frequently worry about his health and safety!

Yeah, we predict you’ll tune in to see co-host Steve Higgins temporarily sitting in for Fallon sometime in the next year.

Teresa Giudice: Buy My Book So I Can Pay the Feds!

It’s only been three weeks since Teresa Giudice was released from prison, but the troubled Jersey Housewife is already plotting her career comeback.

Unfortunately, Teresa is on house arrest at the moment, so her options are limited, but according to Radar Online, Tre is already planning to take the Big Apple by storm once she loses the ankle bracelet.

The release of Teresa’s memoir – Turning the Tables: From Inmate to Housewife and Back Again – has been timed to coincide with the end of her house arrest sentence.

Teresa will be a free woman on February 5, the book hits stores February 9, and the Mrs. Giudice already has several book signings and promotional events lined up in Manhattan.

“Teresa is so excited to promote the book and leave the state of New Jersey!” a source close to the Giudice family tells Radar.

“She hasn’t been to New York City in over a year and misses it…She will be doing a full promotional tour for the memoir, which she wrote while behind bars.

“Expect to see Teresa on GMA, Bravo, and other media. There also will be book signings scheduled at all the hottest spots. More than anything, Teresa is so grateful for this second chance and to interact with her fans.”

Teresa still has a dark cloud hanging over her head, as Joe Giudice will begin his 41-month sentence sometime in the next two months, but sources say for right now, her primary concern is making money.

And it’s a good thing, because while she was locked it, Joe’s first priority was spending it!
