Sister Wives Request Denied: Judge Rules Polygamy Is Still Illegal!

Sometimes, you just can’t have it all.

Such is the case for Kody Brown and his four wives, who all star on TLC’s Sister Wives.

Janelle, Christine, Robyn and Meri learned on Friday that a federal appeals court had “denied a request to reconsider its earlier dismissal of a decision that decriminalized polygamy in Utah, according to The Salt Lake Tribute.

Last month, three judges on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, Co ruled that the Browns could not sue the state for banning polygamy.

The Browns had requested a rehearing, but on May 13th the judges were like “nope.  No thumbs up on plural marriages.”

What to do when the justice system tries to get in the way of a good time?

Take it national.

The family’s attorney, Jonathan Turley stated that the reality stars would take their case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

“While disappointed, the Brown family remains committed to this case and the struggle for equal rights for all families in Utah,” Turley said.

The Browns sued the state of Utah in 2011, “alleging the state’s bigamy law violated their constitutional right to privacy by prohibiting them from living together and that the law criminalized their sexual relationships.”

A Police investigation forced the family to move from Lehi, Utah to Nevada in order to avoid prosecution.

In 2013. a judge gave the Browns a break by striking down the cohabitation portion of the bigamy law, stating that it forced the family  “to leave Utah and violated their rights to privacy and religious freedom.”

“The 10th Circuit panel ruled that a prosecutor can publicly declare a family to be felons, keep them under criminal investigation, and denounce them for their religious beliefs without fear of being held accountable in a court of law,” Turley said.

Utah law, according to the Tribute states that “people are guilty of third-degree felony bigamy if they hold multiple marriage licenses or if, when already married, they cohabit with another consenting adult in a marriage-like relationship.”

tl;dr – polygamy is still illegal.

Request for Meteorologist to Cover Up Sparks #Sweatergate

Being a meteorologist in Los Angeles can be a pretty boring job.

On a nearly daily basis, you"re just telling people that it"s gonna be, like, 75 degrees and sunny.

But reporter Liberte Chan now finds herself in the news for a reason other than this city’s desirable climate.

The weather woman for KTLA, Chan was doing her job on Saturday while wearing a sequined Aidan Mattox black dress when she was interrupted by anchor Chris Burrous.

He handed his colleague a gray cardigan and asked her to put it on because “we’re getting emails," he joked.

But very few people who have watched the following video or learned of this story are laughing.

"You want me to put this on," Chan asked while slipping into the sweater. "Why? Because it"s cold?"

No, Burrous might as well have responded, because of sexism.

"I look like a librarian now," Chan said while continuing to give her report.

It didn’t take long for Twitter to blow up with users who believe Chan had been publicly embarrassed and body-shamed.

One astute viewer even shared a screen capture of a 2012 forecast on the same network in which two models stood around in lingerie for some reason.

Here it is:

Burrous quickly apologized on Twitter, explaining that he offered up the sweater "in jest but I see how it seemed. I am sorry."

Yes, it seemed as if you could not handle the sight of a woman"s bare shoulders, dude.

KTLA did not issue no comment, but Chan addressed the awkward moment with fans on Facebook Live on Sunday, May 15, admitting, "It became this big thing" and adding:

"I really wasn"t offended. People are kind of spinning it and saying that it was sexist … I thought it was kind of funny. I think we just played into the viewers saying, you know, you should cover up, so he brought me over a sweater.

"But not offended, I don"t think it was sexist, but that"s just my opinion."

Jenelle Evans: I"m Not Pregnant OR on Drugs!

Over the past few weeks, there have been rumors that Jenelle Evans is pregnant with her third child, rumors that she’s back on drugs, and rumors that she’s engaged to David Eason.

Jenelle never keeps quiet for long, so we knew she’d come forward and spill the tea eventually. We just didn’t realize there would be actual tea involved.

Jenelle posted the above photo over the weekend along with the following caption:

“Drinking the @flattummytea detox before my morning workouts has been boosting my energy! I’ve been busy all day & not once have I felt groggy. This gives me the energy I NEED! My body is feeling & looking great, no more bloating. More pics to come…”

Okay, so obviously, as with Kailyn Lowry and her waist trainer, this is a paid endorsement situation, but in Jenelle’s case it’s something more.

Quite cleverly, the 24-year-old mother of two is taking the opportunity to make some cash and set the record straight at the same time.

Rumors of Jenelle’s pregnancy bizarrely coincided with rumors that she’s back on drugs.

Basically, fans were convinced that something about Jenelle’s body was changing, so what better way to acknowledge here recent weight loss and quash the reports than by giving credit to a company that’s willing to pay for the privilege?

In addition to the Instagram pic, Jenelle posted the following on Twitter, denying her pregnancy and calling out The Ashley’s Reality Roundup for allegedly starting the rumor:

“I just wanted to put it out there and since Ashley never spoke to me direct or my team on the ‘exclusive’ you’re wrong ! I am NOT pregnant and if I were I wouldn’t be afraid or scared to tell you ‘my fans’ who support me.

“But hey if this story gets you attention have a good weekend :) and enjoy the attention ! #lies #whywouldilie#ashleyslying“

It’s one of Jenelle’s signture Palin-esque word salads, but we’re pretty sure there’s a valid point in there somewhere.

After all, why would she lie about being pregnant again?

Actually, we take that back.

It would be a valid point if Jenelle’s actions were ever governed by logic or reason.

We don’t know what she would stand to gain by denying that she’s knocked up, but then again, we don’t know why Jenelle does half the crap she does.
