Zayn Malik Cancels Peformance Due to Severe Anxiety

It’s been a little more than a year since Zayn Malik quit One Direction to pursue a solo career, and by all accounts, it seemed to be a solid decision.

In January, he released his debut solo track “Pillowtalk,” which quickly shot to the number one spot on the iTunes charts.

The song was a tremendous radio hit, even though Harry Styles may not have loved it.

His success earned him a headlining spot at the Capital Summertime Ball music festival in the UK on June 11, which also featured artists like Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas and Lukas Graham.

But at the last minute, Zayn pulled out, citing crippling anxiety as the cause.

Just one and a half hours before his scheduled performance, the singer shared this message to Instagram:

“To all those people who have been waiting to see me perform at the Capital Summertime Ball today..

“I flew into the U.K. last night to appear in my home country in front of my family, friends, and most importantly, my U.K. fans.

“Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me…”

“With the magnitude of the event I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.”

“I cannot apologise enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me, I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today.

“I know those who suffer anxiety will understand and I hope those who don’t can empathises with my situation.”

Fans might be initially confused. After all, Zayn has experience performing in front of many thousands of people during his time with One Direction.

But this sounds like more than a simple case of nerves. For those who suffer on a deep level, anxiety can indeed be debilitating.

Earlier this month, Zayn and his girlfriend Gigi Hadid reportedly broke up, which may have caused added stress on the singer.

Some reports have claimed the two have gotten back together already, but whatever the case, we hope Zayn finds the peace he needs.

Omar Mateen Identified as Orlando Shooting Culprit

Omar Mateen has been identified as the shooter who took the lives of over 50 people inside an Orlando nightclub on Saturday night.

As previously and tragically reported, the terrible incident took place at a gay establishment called Pure.

Initial reports indicated the death toll hovered around 20, but news reports say over 50 people were killed by Omar Mateen, making this the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

The terrorist opened fire just after 2 a.m, according to police.

An officer working at Pure initially responded to the shooter, “engaging in the gun battle with the suspect” before the suspect went back into the club, Orlando Police Chief John Mina explained at a Sunday morning news conference.

Mateen also numerous people hostage for several hours.

At approximately 5 a.m., authorities moved in to rescue these individuals.

More gunshots followed, with police using explosives in an attempt to distract the suspect.

This is what we know about Omar Mateen:

He was a 29-year old America citizen with Afghan parents.

Police are treating this as a hate crime, saying Mateen was targeting gay people in his attack.

It is believed that Mateen is a radical Islamist, although it is unknown at this time whether he was representing any terrorist organization with his heinous actions.

Mateen’s father told NBC News that “this has nothing to do with religion,” saying instead that the culprit grew enraged after seeing two men kissing a few months ago in Miami.

The father speculates this eye witness account may have triggered his decision to commit mass murder.

Law enforcement confirm that Mateen had on him assault weapon, a handgun and two suspicious devices.

Shortly after the massacre, officers descending upon Mateen’s home to find further evidence and learn more about the gunman responsible for a minimum of 50 deaths.

A TMZ records search, meanwhile, states that Mateen held a Florida security officer license and a state firearms license..

Orlando Shooting: 20 Killed in Massacre at Gay Nightclub

A gunman opened fire at a nightclub in Orlando, Fla., early Sunday morning, reportedly leaving 20 people dead and injuring even more.

According to police, via multiple media reports, the shooter opened fire just after 2 a.m. at Pulse, a popular gay club south of downtown.

The shooter held people hostage for several hours, and around 5 a.m., police moved in to rescue the hostages. More gunshots followed.

"There are approximately 20 people dead inside," Orlando Police Chief John Mina tragically confirmed in a press conference this morning.

"At least 42 people have been transported to various hospitals."

Mina said the shooter terrifyingly "appeared to be carrying an assault-type rifle and a handgun. He had some type of device on him."

The shooter was not from the area, the police chief said.

Mina also noted that there was no indication the shooting was related to the Saturday morning shooting death of Christina Grimmie

The Voice singer was killed one night earlier, also in Orlando, by Kevin James Loibl, who went on to take his own life after the attack.

Authorities do not yet know a motive for the club shooting.

"We consider this an act of terrorism," says FDLE Agent Danny Banks, who hinted at possible ties to radical Islam at a press conference.

"We do have suggestions that that individual may have leanings towards that, that particular ideology," Banks said, but he cautioned:

"Right now we can’t say that definitively."

"We’re still running everything around."

During the shooting, someone posted from the club"s Facebook page telling everyone to run:  "Everyone get out of pulse and keep running."

Our thoughts are with the victims" families.
