Beauty and the Beast Gay Scene: Why Was it Written In?

Princesses always meet their prince charming in Disney movies, but in Beauty at the Beast, one gay male character is hoping to meet his as well.

In a major change of convention, one character in the new live action version is set to have the studio’s first “exclusively gay scene.”

Manservant LeFou, in a daring side plot, will explore his sexuality after developing romantic feelings for the macho leading man Gaston.

This is not thinly-veiled, either. Or veiled at all.

Director Bill Condon said: “LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston.”

“He’s confused about what he wants.”

“It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings,” he adds. “It is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”

The character, played by Josh Gad, marks a “watershed moment” for Disney, according to the director, who is more than happy with it.

“The studio is sending out a message that this is normal and natural,” said Condon, who considers this not only acceptable, but important.

“This is a message that will be heard in every country, even countries where it’s still socially unacceptable or even illegal to be gay.”

In the original 1991 animated film classic, LeFou sings a song to cheer up Gaston, a ladies’ man intent on winning Belle’s affection.

This time around, he will likely do much of the same, albeit while harboring romantic feelings of his own toward the Luke Evans’ character.

The lead role of Belle is also being made more feminist, though a recent Emma Watson topless scandal has drawn criticism in that respect.

Watson’s off-set controversies aside, Belle – once a dreary bookworm – has been transformed into an independent, headstrong inventor.

Fans have often mused over the sexuality of Disney characters for decades now, including Ursula, the sea witch in The Little Mermaid.

Some feel that villain was inspired by a drag queen, while others hoped for a romance between The Lion King’s Timon and Pumba.

More recently, talk of a Frozen 2 sparked plenty of fan discussion online as to Elsa’s sexuality, and what the community would like it to be.

Simply put, many folks want Disney to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend.

Love is an open door, right? This concept began with a teenage girl named Alexis Isabel Moncada who Tweeted a message that went viral.

“I hope Disney makes Elsa a lesbian princess imagine how iconic that would be. Dear @Disney, #GiveElsaAGirlfriend.”

While they may be stretching, Beast is leaving no doubts.

Blac Chyna: Determined to Get with Kanye West?!

We’ll say one thing about Blac Chyna — girl has some hustle.

For the past several years, she’s worked on climbing her way up to … well, we’re not sure exactly where’s she’s climbing. To fame? To fortune? To the mythical land of the Famous Baby Daddies?

It’s hard to say.

But we do know that she had a relationship and a child with Tyga, back when he was an up-and-coming rapper, and then she had another relationship and another child with Rob Kardashian, arguably one of the richest and most famous male reality stars.

She’s trading up, but she’s trying to keep it in the family, you know?

So it just makes sense that there are oodles of rumors these days that Chyna is looking to land herself yet another famous Kardashian (or Kardashian-adjacent) guy.

Yep, we have another story about this girl trying to sink her claws in none other than Kanye West.

We first heard of Chyna setting her sights on Kim Kardashian’s husband last month, when a source explained that she’d been “cooking up ways to spend more time with him, hoping to make a move when Kim’s not around.”

“Poor Rob had no idea,” the source said then. “He’s been played like a total fool by Chyna, who’s been laughing at him behind his back the whole time they were together and openly going after other men.”

“But hitting on Kanye was a low blow even by her standards.”

So awful, right? But still, not unimaginable.

After all, it would just sort of fit with her pattern if she went for Kanye, wouldn’t it?

And judging by this new report from Star, she’s definitely still going for him.

An insider says that “Chyna is finished with Rob, but she’s not about to slink off into obscurity” — perish the thought.

“She’s been crushing on Kanye for years, and now that he and Kim are hanging by a thread, she sees her opportunity to move in for the kill.”

Remember a few years ago when Chyna and Kim were best friends? Yeah, that makes this idea even more icky.

The source goes on to explain that “Chyna is fame-hungry and hell-bent on staying relevant. She told her friends that Kim and Kanye are as good as over, so why shouldn’t she go for him?”

Let’s see, maybe because of morals? Kindness? Respect? Any of those things ring a bell?

We didn’t think so.

Alas, the source calls Chyna “crafty” because “she’ll call Kanye to vent about Rob but then drop in things to stroke his ego.”

“Chyna will tell him that he’s such a brilliant artist and he deserves a strong relationship and a devoted woman. She’s planting seeds.”

OK, so a few things need to happen here.

One, Blac Chyna needs to back up and consider that perhaps she should start thinking less about what guy she’s going to get with next and instead start thinking about why she feels the need to act this messy.

Two, Kim needs to come get her man and straighten this out.

Three, cage match.

And that’s just the way it has to be.

Emma Watson: Slammed For Posing Topless!

While her film career remains the envy of up-and-coming actresses the world over, these days, Emma Watson is as well-known for her political activism as for her work in Hollywood.

Watson rose to international fame at the tender age of 10, thanks to her role as Hermione in the now-iconic Harry Potter franchise.

These days, the 26-year-old is promoting her upcoming role in Disney’s live action remake of Beauty and the Beast, one of the buzzed about projects of 2017.

Not surprisingly, she’s everywhere at the moment, as she’s tasked with boosting a film that has the potential to earn $ 1 billion worldwide.

It’s not an unfamiliar role for Watson, but these days, she finds herself in a new and rather unique position.

Despite the fact that she’s an educated woman who’s racked up numerous film credits in the years since she left Hogwarts, there are those who will always think of her as Hermione (and, thus, as a young girl).

She’s also a stalwart feminist who’s spoken at the United Nations about the importance of combating sexual assault, and who’s vocally advocated for closing the gender wage gap in Hollywood.

Perhaps it’s for all of those reasons that so many were surprised to see this racy photo of Watson in the latest issue of Vanity Fair:

As is usual the case with this sort of thing, there were plenty of dumbasses on social media carping about how Watson destroyed their childhood, but a larger and more vocal group is criticizing the actress for allegedly abandoning her feminist ideals:

There argument might be best summed up by this tweet from UK journalist Julia Hartley-Brewer:

“Emma Watson: ‘Feminism, feminism… gender wage gap… why oh why am I not taken seriously… feminism… oh, and here are my tits!"”

Others have argued that it’s ironic and anti-feminist to limit Watson’s freedom of expression she because she advocates for equality of the sexes.

Obviously, it’s a complex issue, but it’s worth noting that whether she intended it or not, Watson’s photo makes a valuable point about the importance of consent.

Last year, Watson revealed that she was threatened with a nude photo leak after speaking at the UN.

But anyone who thinks that Watson is being hypocritical by posing for a nude photo that she knew would be published is missing the point:

The issue was never nudity, but rather the importance of all women’s right to do what they want with bodies without fear of threats, intimidation, or coercion.

So are we coming down on Watson’s side of this argument?

Yeah, but don’t give us too much woke-ness cred.

We’re always on the side of exposed boobs.

(Provided they’re exposed under the right circumstances, of course.)
