Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins: Where Did It Go Wrong?!?

Just last week, Ben Higgins quoted Martin Luther King Jr. on Instagram, writing the following:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

He then addressed girlfriend Lauren Bushnell as part of the same caption for the photo below and added:

“@laurenbushnell continues to spread love while some feel it is their responsibility to spread hate, she is a light in this world. Proud of my gal.”

Fast forward to Monday and Higgins confirmed that he and Bushnell had broken up.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways,” the former Bachelor and his previously-selected winner said in a joint statement.

Added the ex-love birds:

“We feel fortunate for all the time that we had together, and we will remain friends with much love and respect for one another.

“We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time.”

Higgins and Bushnell got together early last year, after the latter beat out JoJo Fletcher to win the former’s season of The Bachelor.

But many fans have been counting down the days to their split ever since The Bachelor finale, considering Higgins also told Fletcher he was in love with her toward the end of his run on ABC.

Rumors of a break-up have been dogging Ben and Lauren for several months, despite their starring role on a Freeform reality show last summer in which they allowed cameras to chronicle their personal lives.

To add drama to a potential second season, Higgins actually called off his wedding to Bushnell on air at one point…

… although he still claimed he wanted to be with her forever. He just needed more time to fully commit.

Yeah. Like we said: this split wasn’t too hard to see coming in some ways.

Still, Higgins blasted an Us Weekly report of his relationship’s demise as “fake news” in February, seeking to end all such chatter with a social media statement that read as follows:

“We have entered into a world where rumors will exist we know that, but just know as @laurenbushnell celebrates her birthday tomorrow I am still extremely lucky to be able to share life with her and be by her side.”

But now the romance is officially over.

What happened?!?

“I know that they have struggled with the show and then kind of continuing on and doing their reality show and kind of where the show stopped and then where life began,” The Bachelor host Chris Harrison told People yesterday of his interpretation.

He added:

“They were fighting through a bunch of stuff. But I don’t know. I’ll reach out to them. I’m very sorry to hear that because I do care about them very much.”

Yet, while Harrison expressed shock upon being told by People that Higgins and Bushnell had split, an insider tells E! News this was easy to see coming.

“No one is that surprised,” this source says. “Lauren was pretty open among her friends that she was struggling. She would talk about how hard it was.”

The E! mole goes on to explain that the pressure of having to seem happy while in the public eye really affected Ben and Lauren.

Another source says that “after the show, Lauren felt like she gave up everything for Ben.”

We can see this; following the end of their reality TV season, Lauren quit her job and moved to Denver for Higgins. She really had no identity except for The Woman Who Won The Bachelor.

Labeling the split as a “mutual” decision, E! concludes:

“They both really wanted to make it work, but Lauren was the only one who was really needing to change a lot of things…

“She felt like she wasn’t being authentic to herself.”

That’s too bad.

But at least Ben and Lauren have a whole lot of company.

Yes, some couples who met on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette have gone on to make babies together (see above).

Most, however, have gone their separate ways.

Teen Mom OG Recap: The Trust is Just Knot There

Last night on Teen Mom OG Season 4 Episode 7, Tyler found out some new intel about Butch, and changed his outlook on life somewhat.

How did that help, or hurt, his wife Catelynn?

Meanwhile, Farrah questioned her mom’s relationship with her fiancé, and Ryan clashed with Maci about where Bentley spends time.

Finally, Amber Portwood tried on wedding dresses, but it was not everything that she thought it would be. Quite the contrary in fact.

If you watch Teen Mom OG online, or read any celebrity gossip all, you know that Amber’s relationship with Matt Baier is … tumultuous.

That’s about as nicely as we can put it, too.

So perhaps it’s fitting that amid real-time reports that Matt cheated on Amber and failed a lie detector test, we saw this Monday night:

Amber, trying on wedding dresses in preparation for what should be the most special day of her life, experiencing serious cold feet.

While trying on a wedding gown with her neighbor and friend, Amber reflected to the MTV show’s producers about how far she’s come.

No question, she and Matt Baier have gone through a lot already, and from the moment they met (and because of how they met, in part).

Beyond the fact that Matt Baier has 7-9 kids (accounts vary), the Teen Mom fanboy previously tried to bang Jenelle Evans and Farrah Abraham

Yeah. It doesn’t get any less weird with time.

To many fans, watching Portwood become unsure if she wants to marry him anymore feels like a long time coming for a reason.

Whether this foreshadows the end of Amber and Matt, or whether they will ride this out and defy expectations as they have in the past?

Very much unclear. But it doesn’t look good.

These two make Farrah Abraham look borderline stable if that’s possible, even as she’s warring with her mother Debra (oh yes, again).

Debra is marrying a man whom she barely knows, in Farrah’s mind, and the Teen Mom: OG star has obvious reservations about this.

Fortunately, Farrah and Debra found some common ground instead of Farrah telling her mom to f–king die like she sometimes does.

They bashed Farrah’s nanny. #Solidarity.

Meanwhile, in Michigan, Tyler received a call from his dad, Butch, looking to get in touch with Dr. Drew Pinsky to help him stop relapsing.

Dr. Drew, the MTV staple, admirably told Butch to get into a real program, as he never really committed to one after getting out of prison.

Given the fact that he took some initiative at least, Tyler is more optimistic about his dad’s recovery and chances to turn things around.

After everything he’s going through with Catelynn, the couple could use a little good fortune, and we hope this positive trend continues.

It’s remarkable that they’re doing so well, considering.

Finally, Ryan Edwards’ family clashed with Maci Bookout when they heard she doesn’t want Bentley sleeping at Jen and Larry‘s anymore.

Maci’s take was that her son should stay at his dad’s house instead; Ryan and his fiancee, Mackenzie Standifer, were equally livid though.

The future newlyweds refused to go to an Escape Room event with Maci and her husband, Taylor McKinney, as the tensions mounted.

Just when you thought they had turned a corner, too.

Larry started to go OFF about this as the cameras rolled, bashing Maci Bookout to the point where Jen had to get him to cool off a bit.

Perhaps this is why Ryan’s fiancee got pissed at MTV before the season started? Does she think the network isn’t telling the whole story.

It’s unclear, but hopefully Edwards, Bookout and their respective families are able to iron out these disputes and move forward together.

Bentley should come first, after all.

Keiynan Lonsdale Comes Out as Bisexual: Read His Moving Statement

Keiynan Lonsdale has an announcement to make.

The actor, best known for his role on The Flash as Wally West, shared a lengthy Instagram post over the weekend in which he opened up about his personal life.

Specifically, Lonsdale admitted that he’s attracted to both men and women.

“I like to change my hair, I like to take risks with how I dress, I like girls, and I like guys (yes),” wrote the 25-year old star, who you may also recognize as Uriah from the movie Allegiant.

He added on Saturday, May 13:

“I like growing, I like learning, I like who I am and I really like who I’m becoming.

“Spent way too many years hating myself, thinking I was less valuable because I was different … which is just untrue.”

Lonsdale included the following photo with his announcement and went on to explain that a “couple years ago” he was “able to accept” himself.

Wrote the star:

“It saved my life, but now I’ve gotten to a new road block and I feel kind of lost. I gotta take the next step and actually embrace who I am, which is pretty exciting.

“Not faking sh-t anymore, not apologizing for falling in love with people no matter their gender. I’ve become bored of being insecure, ashamed, scared.”

Good. We admire Lonsdale for fully embracing who he really is.

Along with the aforementioned television and film role, the 25-year old has appeared on TV shows All Saints and Dance Academy, along with the movies Insurgent and The Finest Hours.

He concluded in his Instagram post that no one should be ashamed about who they are. Quite the opposite, in fact.

“More and more I see so many young people being their best / truest selves, it’s f-cking inspiring … so what have I been waiting for!? Who knows.

“Everyone in their own time. I hope we can all learn to embrace who we are and not judge people who aren’t exactly the same as us.

“The truth is we are all family, we’re all one.”

Amen, right?

Fortunately, yes, right: a significant number of social media users have come out and offered their support to Keiynan Lonsdale.

“U DESERVE ALL THE GOD DAMN LOVE IN THE UNIVERSE,” read one enthusiastic response, while another follower chimed in as follows:

“The love is beyond measurable.”

Do whatever (and whomever!) makes you happy, man. No judgment here. Just love.

Dancing With the Stars Results: A Semifinal Shocker! What is Up With This Show?!

One of Dancing With the Stars’ most controversial seasons in history is coming down the home stretch, and it’s still anyone’s title to grab.

Just not one of the favorites.

Oh yes. Having already seen the elimination of Heather Morris, we were treated to another results shocker Monday night on the parquet.

Rashad Jennings, David Ross, Normani Kordei and Simone Biles have made it to the final four, vying to join the illustrious list of winners.

This week, the fab four and their respective partners would dance twice, and one dancer would be sent home before next week’s finale.

Let’s see how they did … and stunning Dancing with the Stars results awaited us at the end of the night (this was a real doozy, people).

David Ross and Lindsay Arnold

Unquestionably the weakest of the final four (still, to even make the final four is impressive), the ballplayer struggled a touch on the Foxtrot.

Just the same, he’s progressed so much, and his tango to “Castle on a Hill” was up there with the most memorable routines of the year.

Judges Challenge: 34/40

Unlearned Dance: 36/40

Total: 70!

Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy

The Fifth Harmony member stumbled a bit during her Viennese Waltz, but that was barely perceptible. But then she achieved perfection.

Her jazz routine set to “What a Wonderful World” earned a standing ovation and was as good as any routine on any season.

Judges Challenge: 36/40

Unlearned Dance: 40/40

Total: 76!

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater

The NFL running back turned in a strong rumba, and an even stronger quickstep, continuing to show improvement week in and week out.

Judges Challenge: 38/40

Unlearned Dance: 39/40

Total: 77!

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber

After last week’s iconic “smiling doesn’t win gold medals” comment, Simone set out to have some fun doing the jive, and she delivered.

Biles landed her first perfect score, then added another in the form of a rumba that also showcased her personality and her talents.

Judges Challenge: 40/40

Unlearned Dance: 40/40

Total: 80!

So naturally, at the end of Monday’s episode, Simone was the one to be sent home. We wish we were kidding, but that’s DWTS for you.

After Heather Morris’ exit, and to a degree Nancy Kerrigan’s, Simone looked all but assured of a place in this season’s final four.

We know, two shocking ousters shouldn’t preclude a third, but given her place among these four, how could she not make it?

Then to put together an 80/80 on top of that … what gives? Apparently, David Ross’ votes outweighed Biles’ in spite of all that.

Half of the scores that determine who gets voted off come from fans, so Ross must have accumulated A LOT more of those.

Shame. Brandy’s exit back in Season 11, and perhaps Morris’ a few weeks earlier this spring, were equally bad, but this? This?

It may go down as the strangest of the strange Dancing With the Stars results we’ve seen over the show’s 24 seasons on air.
