Monty Brinson, the ex-husband of reality star Kim Richards and the father of her daughter Brooke, died on Sunday after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was 58 years old.
Rick Hilton – Brinson’s former brother-in-law, who is married to Richards’ half-sister Kathy – confirmed the sad news on Instagram last night, writing:
“We have lost Monty Brinson after a brave battle with cancer. His heart was a big as the moon and he was loved by all he Met. He will be sorely missed. I love You always!”
The ex-Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member and Brinson were married for three years and shared a daughter together.
They divorced way back in 1988, yet remained far closer than most former spouses remain. They even lived together recently as Brinson’s health grew worse.
Brinson, an heir to a supermarket franchise, was a strong and outspoken supporter of Richards over the years, defending her last in 2015 she was arrested twice and spent time in rehab.
“All I will say at this time besides being best friends, and personally a person who has a great heart is thankful to all her fans and friends for believing in her,” he wrote of Kim last year.
“Personally I have not seen her but we speak everyday. Do I know everything absolutely. Do I take up for my family and friends absolutely. Do I say it like it is. Absolutely.”
We send our condolences to Brinson’s loved ones.
