Katie May Dies; Model Dubbed "Queen of Snapchat" Was 34

Katie May – the model who was so popular on social media that she was dubbed the “Queen of Snapchat – has passed away at the age of 34.



Earlier today, we reported that May had suffered a stroke and failed to regain consciousness.


Initial reports indicated that she was in critical condition, but due to to her youth and lifelong dedication to health and fitness, family and friends expected her to recover.


Moments ago, TMZ reported that Katie has passed away, leaving behind a 7-year-old daughter.


Sources say Katie had no serious pre-existing health conditions, and the stroke was caused by an undetected blockage in her carotid artery.


A veteran of the modeling world, May’s work appeared in such iconic publications as Playboy and Sports Illustrated, but it was on the Internet that she really made a name for herself.


With nearly 2 million followers on Instagram alone, May was more popular than many household-name supermodels.


Sources say her family made the difficult decision to take Katie off life support this evening after they were informed that she was brain dead.


She reportedly passed away surrounded by family and friends.


A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for Katie’s orphaned daughter. A message on the page reads:


“Anyone who was lucky enough to know Katie May was truly blessed by her incredible heart, mind and soul. She was an inspiration and a guiding light to so many people in this world…Her daughter was Katie’s whole life, so please help Katie and her family by donating money.”
