So FKA Twigs is pretty cool, right?
She’s been dating Robert Pattinson for just over two years now, and he’s pretty cool, even with his whole dramatic and sparkly vampire gig.
She wears all those interesting fashions, and she’s also quick to call out all the haters she’s acquired after getting with Kristen Stewart’s ex.
Remember when people were being awful and racist to her right after she started dating Rob?
“I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week,” she said.
“Racism is unacceptable in the real world and unacceptable online.”
All good things, right? FKA Twigs is a stand-up individual.
… But then again, maybe not.
In 2013, Twigs released a music video for a song called “Papi Pacify.”
It’s a weird video — a lot of it is just some guy shoving his fingers down her throat.
But in a new interview, FKA Twigs is explaining exactly what she was trying to communicate with the video. And it’s pretty shocking.
She says the video was meant to represent an “emotionally abusive” past relationship of hers.
“In the relationship I couldn’t communicate,” she explains. “The person I was with was stopping me from explaining how I felt. So the physical manifestation is someone putting their hand in your mouth.”
“But there’s an element, too, of liking that as well. It’s messed up. It’s addictive.”
If you think it sounds like she’s about to cross a line here, then just you wait, because she’s about to leap right the f-ck over it.
The person interviewing Twigs points out that the imagery in the music video is kind of brutal, and she responds with “Violent, or beautiful?”
“It’s kind of sexy, like emotional abuse can be tender. That’s why it’s messed up.”
She goes on to say that “If you are in an emotionally abusive relationship, it can be tender, that’s why you stay.”
“And you stay because there’s a poorly part of your mind that likes it.”
Oh, girl. Oh, girl, no.
FKA Twigs is allowed to interpret her own experiences however she likes, and she can feel her own feelings as she sees fit.
But for her to suggest that emotional abuse is “kind of sexy,” that’s just objectively wrong.
It’s irresponsible, and it’s pretty gross, too.
Maybe she meant to say that when you’re caught up in a relationship like that, it might feel kind of sexy, but … actually, you know what? No.
Every bit of this is wrong.
