Scheana Shay Opens Up About Divorce: What REALLY Happened?

For months now, we’ve been hearing reports that Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana and Mike Shay had split up after less than two years of marriage.

At one point, there were rumors that Mike had gone missing for six days after emptying his and Scheana’s joint checking account, prompting family and friends to call police and have him tracked down.

Last night, Scheana finally spoke about her troubled marriage in a pair of very different interviews:

Following last night’s episode of Vanderpump (which awkwardly transitioned into the pilot for for Bravo’s dumb new show about Hamptons snobs – a bit of programming trickery that we really hope doesn’t become a trend), Scheana appeared on Watch What Happens Live, alongside Stassi Schroeder.

Naturally, host Andy Cohen asked about the state of Scheana’s marriage, and the usually private aspiring pop star gave a remarkably candid assessment of her love life:

Scheana confirmed that she and Mike have filed for divorce, forgoing a legal separation period altogether.

She says they haven’t lived together since October and are currently “not on speaking terms.”

She even hinted that she may have already found someone new, but stopped just short of going into detail about the “mystery man” on her Snapchat account.

Prior to sitting down with Cohen, however, Scheana spoke with E! News and made the dissolution of her marriage sound much more amicable:

In this interview, Scheana claimed that the couple had little trouble weathering the storm of Mike’s substance abuse issues, but adds that they ultimately decided together they simply weren’t a good fit for one another.

“I just didn’t think it was something that was fixable,” she explained to us before her appearance tonight on Watch What Happens Live.

“From three months into the marriage, if it wasn’t one thing it was another and we both decided amicably that this relationship wasn’t working anymore and a divorce was the way to go.”

While she reiterated that she and Mike are no longer speaking, this time she made it sound like a mutual decision, designed to help both of them move on:

“Look, you’re happy. I’m happy. We can be happy for each other,” Scheana explained.

“If you need anything I’m here but it’s just kind of at the point where communication doesn’t need to be regular.”

Sadly, we didn’t get any updates of Scheana’s feud with Nicole Arbour, or the state of Mike and Nicole’s unintentionally hilarious hip hop crew.
