Troubled rapper and aspiring boxer Soulja Boy has been charged with felony possession of a firearm following his arrest back in December.
Soulja is now in serious legal trouble after the L.A. County D.A. just slapped him with two felonies as a result of the incident late last year.
The 26-year-old “Crank That” rapper was charged with possession of an assault weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He was also charged with a misdemeanor for receiving stolen property, according to TMZ, which broke this story earlier this morning.
Cops who searched Soulja, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, say that one of the weapons on him was reportedly stolen from a cop car.
The assault weapon charge, meanwhile, steams from a Mini Draco AR-15, which is illegal for anyone to possess in the state of California.
If convicted, Soulja could face more than four years in prison.
Those who followed his recent feud with Chris Brown likely recall that this arrest was the topic of debate between the two music stars.
Soulja instigated the online fight when he claimed that the troubled R&B singer harassed him on FaceTime … for a ridiculous reason.
Chris, Soulja says, was livid that the rapper had “Liked” one of Karrueche Tran’s posts on Instagram, and Soulja let him hear it, tweeting:
“Chris brown just called me and said he wanna fight me because I liked @karrueche picture on Instagram this n—a a bitch.”
Brown then referenced the gun arrest and, hitting any wannabe thug where it hurts the most, accused Soulja Boy of being a snitch …
“You on probation for weapons and all that gangsta s–t you talk about and you get out less than 24 hours later? You told!” Brown said.
Chris’ conclusion was that Soulja is in league with cops, as he knows gangstas who were locked up for DUI longer than Ya Boy was.
Street n–gas, Chris says, don’t engage in jawing with no “Officer Soulja,” so he won’t give him any new material to “write your report.”
The rapper countered in an interview (below) that he got out because of good lawyers, and tried to downplay it as a probation violation.
Not sure that holds any water given today’s news.
Anyway, he and Chris are (or were, tentatively) slated to fight on pay per view in Dubai in March, if he’s allowed to leave the country.
Could be a tall order after the weapons charge.
