Look, Farrah Abraham can be a sincerely awful person. You know it, we know it, everybody knows it.
But sometimes, every once in a while, she gets a whole lot of criticism for no real reason.
And that’s sad.
It’s especially sad this time, because Farrah’s latest “offense,” according to several Instagram users, is visiting the grave of Derek Underwood.
Derek was Farrah’s boyfriend, and he fathered little Sophia.
He died in a car accident while Farrah was pregnant, and though they weren’t dating at the time, it was still devastating for her, which is understandable.
Since Sophia was little, Farrah’s made sure that she remembers Derek. They visit his grave from time to time, they talk about him.
Teen Mom’s hottest mess has messed up a lot of things, but we can’t really fault her for the way she’s handled this tough situation.
Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for Farrah’s Instagram followers.
When she shared the photo from Derek’s grave, writing “Happy Birthday Daddy Derek! We all love you so much thank you for always watching over us,” the haters came out in full force.
Several people commented that Derek is probably “glad he’s dead,” because he “dodged a bullet” with Farrah — those exact phrases were used multiple times.
One person told her “U should die like him,” with another writing “Should’ve been you.”
“I’d die too if I had to be forever associated with you,” one heartless follower said.
“He’s probably rolling in his grave on how you are raising his daughter.”
“If he would still be alive he would be ashamed of you as a selfish mom.”
“He was probably drunk and driving recklessly because of Farrah.”
That’s just a small sample of the kind of hateful, completely uncalled for comments she’s been getting.
One person even had the nerve to comment with “Apparently her mom didn’t bust her in the mouth hard enough when she was a teen,” referring to the time that Farrah’s mother, Debra Danielsen, was arrested for assaulting her.
A good amount of Instagram users even took issue with Derek’s grave itself, saying that Farrah should spend some of her fortune to upgrade his headstone.
(Which, if you’ve watched early seasons of Teen Mom, probably wouldn’t be possible anyway — Derek’s family has always been very protective of his memory.)
Thankfully, a few people were able to chime in with voices of reason.
“Seriously not a time to be disrespectful,” one such person wrote. “A child lost her father. You don’t have to be a fan of hers. But don’t do this kind of stuff on this post. It’s not fair.”
And it truly isn’t, is it? Farrah didn’t cause Derek’s death, she’s not responsible for his headstone, and it’s beyond disgusting to suggest that Derek’s spirit is somewhere, happy to be rid of her.
As for those that tried to tell Farrah that she should have been the one to die … there really are no words.
Just do better, everyone. It really won’t be difficult to do better than this.
