The celebrity couples sure are falling of late, and the latest pair to add to the list is Amber Heard and Elon Musk, who are parting ways after just over one year together.
A source for the couple confirmed the sad news to Us Weekly.
“The timing wasn’t good for them,” said the source.
“He’s super busy and works all the time. Amber is filming [Aquaman] in Australia until October. She’s in no position to settle with him. She feels her career is just starting.”
That final part about the “career just starting” is a little telling.
Amber has been acting and modeling for many years now, so our best takeaway from that last part is that all of the drama with Johnny Depp has opened up a world of possibilities regarding her career.
With Elon being a tech billionaire (he’s worth a cool $ 13.3 billion!) and Heard being a popular actress, it’s entirely plausible that being in other parts of the world from one another brought this relationship to a grinding halt.
However, Elon and his sons were spotted around the are in Australia that Aquaman was being filmed, so it seems like they tried to make the long distance thing work.
It’s difficult to be apart from a loved one, and if they are struggling now, they were best to call it quits.
It could have been so much worse down the line if they were married and had kids.
The duo initially met in 2013, but they never took things further until after Amber’s marriage to Johnny Depp came to a brutal and public conclusion.
Despite not originally confirming they were a thing, it became apparent when they were spotted like teenagers sneaking around and leaving each other’s rooms at the Delano hotel in Miami.
Maybe they didn’t know if they were serious or not, and considering the headlines that were following Amber around at the time, we’re not surprised she kept it on the down low.
Heard officially confirmed she was getting jiggy with Musk in April when she took to Instagram with a picture of them at a high-class romantic dinner.
Despite their careers taking them all over the world, it just was not meant to be, and they have parted ways.
Us Weekly recently said that Elon pursued Amber “but she wouldn’t go out with him for a long time.”
Was she just not that into him and thought it would be worth giving a try?
We have no idea, but this does not seem like the type of breakup that will go nuclear in the press, so Amber will likely be breathing a huge sigh of relief right about now.
