Back in January, porn star Stormy Daniels made headlines after news came out alleging that Trump had an affair with her and paid her to keep quiet.
Then, the following month, Kylie Jenner welcomed her baby girl into the world … and named her Stormi Webster.
If you’re tempted to compare the two, be warned: Kylie can’t stand when people talk about Stormy and her little girl in the same breath.
HollywoodLife reports, per their source’s revelations, that Kylie really wishes that Stormy Daniels would go away.
It’s nothing personal or political — it’s just that Kylie’s sweet daughter has the same first name, and Kylie doesn’t want people drawing connections between the two.
“Though the spelling is different and in no way was her daughter named after Stormy Daniels, Kylie is hoping that Stormy will be out of the news soon.”
There’s one thing about these conversations that really gets under Kylie’s skin.
“Because she hates people tweeting and talking about her daughter having a porn star name.”
We’ll … touch on that in a moment.
“It’s bothering Kylie that people would even dare connect the two.”
From this source’s statement, it sounds like the topic of Stormy Daniels keeps coming up around Kylie.
“It’s really putting Kylie in a place of worry and she doesn’t want to be bothered by it anymore.”
Again, it doesn’t sound like Kylie dislikes Stormy specifically.
“She doesn’t want her daughter connected to any type of controversy at all.”
But as far as Kylie is concerned, this story needs to end as soon as possible.
“So the quicker Stormy Daniels is out of people’s minds the better.”
In that, both Kylie Jenner and Donald Trump are likely in agreement.
But … we need to talk about this.
First of all, Stormy Daniels made headlines weeks before Kylie gave birth.
It’s always a good idea to look at popular culture and settle on names that you want to avoid, simply to avoid the association (even if it’s possible).
(For example, my parents didn’t name my younger sister “Selena,” even though it’s an awesome name, because Batman Returns had just come out, and they didn’t want for people to think that they’d named her after Catwoman)
Sometimes, there’s an unfortunate “flight” from a once-common name. Babies named “Ellen” plummeted after Ellen DeGeneres came out as gay.
But … if this report is true, and Kylie really resents that people think that her daughter has a “porn star name,” that’s not Stormy’s fault.
Because “Stormi,” might have sounded like a sex-worker’s stage name even if Stormy Daniels had never become famous.
Even Stormy herself has a real name of Stephanie Clifford.
While Kylie’s alleged thoughts on Stormy come through an insider, Stormy’s thoughts on Kylie and her baby are out there for everyone to read.
TMZ caught up with Stormy Daniels not long after Stormi’s birth and asked her about the similar names.
Stormy replied:
“I will say congratulations (to Kylie), and I wish her all the best.”
She did offer a word of caution.
“And hang on to your heart, because little girls named Stormi are known to cause trouble.”
Honestly? We don’t doubt it.
The Kardashians are known for being reasonably sex-positive. They strip down on camera, they speak frankly about their sex lives, and Kim even has an infamous sex tape.
But there is still a stigma, even (shamefully!) in certain feminist spaces, against sex workers — whether they’re strippers or work in prostitution or actors in porn.
That said, there’s nothing here that explicitly ties Kylie’s alleged resentment of Stormy Daniels making headlines to Stormy’s sex work. It may be that Kylie just didn’t want Stormi linked to any controversies.
If that was her goal, perhaps she would have been better served if she’d, you know, checked some headlines before filling out that birth certificate.
After that 60 Minutes interview, Stormy Daniels isn’t going away any time soon.
