Shawn Mendes Comes Out as Straight

Shawn Mendes has an important announcement to make:

He is straight.

Yes, straight.

The 17-year old singer felt a need to record a video of himself setting the record… well… straight when it comes to his sexuality.

For what reason? We"ll let Mendes explain.

“So I don’t usually do this and bring up problems, but I was on YouTube just watching some of my interviews, and I was going down the comments and noticed a lot of people were saying that I gave them a ‘gay vibe," he says in the following footage peering directly into the camera and addig:

"First of all, I’m not gay.”

Okay then, Shawn.

He continued:

“Second of all, it shouldn’t make a difference if I was or if I wasn’t.

"The focus should be on the music and not my sexuality. Now I know 99 percent of you guys aren’t making assumptions like this, but this is just for the one percent of you that are.”

He wasn"t finished.

"I just want you guys before you judge someone on the way they speak or act, I want you guys to think, ‘Hey, maybe I shouldn’t be judging someone’ or ‘Wait, it actually doesn’t even matter; they can do or be or feel however they want to feel.""

Hmmm… wait a minute.

If it doesn"t matter whether one is gay or straight, how can you say others are "judging" you for giving off a gay vibe?

There"s no around this coming across as homophobic on the singer"s part, even if he did not mean for it to be so.

“Now I’m not frustrated because people were saying that I was gay at all," he added.

"I have no problem with that, because it wouldn’t make a difference to me.

"I’m frustrated because in this day and age people have the audacity to write online that I’m gay as if it were a bad thing.”

Again, Mendes is the one who made a point to record a video simply because, by his own admission, only one percent of people on his timeline made this allegation.

So who is really the one taking it as a bad thing?

"That’s all I really have to say about that. I just wish those one percent of people would grow up. I love you guys," he concluded.

Rob Kardashian: Straight Chillin with French Montana!

Rob Kardashian continues to remain estranged from his famous family.

But the troubled reality star has no problem at all spending time with those who formerly spent time with members of his famous family.

Kardashian, of course, has been seriously dating Blac Chyna for several weeks now.

She’s the mother of Tyga’s young son and Tyga is dating Kylie Jenner, basically making him part of Rob’s family.

Then, on Tuesday night, Rob appeared in multiple Snapchat videos with French Montana, the rapper who dated Khloe Kardashian for many months in 2014.

“@robkardashian get ready ‼️‼️,” Montana captioned a clip of the pair telling the camera about “a thing called get the bags ready.”

In the background of the barely-indecipherable video, Rob can be heard saying “chicken, chicken.”

Good luck making sense of all that.

Rob was very close back in the day with Khloe’s husband as well, with many believing his sister’s split from Lamar Odom was actually what started Kardashian down his dangerous path of overeating and substance abuse.

Unlike Kylie, however, who is reportedly furious that her brother is having intercourse with her chief rival, we doubt Khloe is too bothered by Rob’s apparent friendship with Montana.

He and Khloe remained on good terms, hanging out themselves these days on occasion.

During an interview with E! News at the Grammy Awards on February 15, Montana said that he and Khloe are “great friends” and will probably “be friends forever.”

As for Rob Kardashian?

He has lost 40 pounds and clearly become more social ever since he started dating Blac Chyna.

Might this relationship not be as toxic as his loved ones believe it to be?

Jenelle Evans Sets the Record Straight About Police Altercation

Earlier this week, area police paid a visit to Jenelle Evans’ house to intervene in a domestic dispute that involved a screaming match between her mom Barbara and her boyfriend David Eason.

No arrests were made, but Barbara was said to leave with Jenelle’s kids, Jace, 6, and Kaiser, 1.

Now, the Teen Mom 2 star has taken to Twitter to clarify the events of that day.

“Kaiser was never taken from my house… I was in the bathroom doing my makeup to go to lunch with my mom,” she tweeted. 

“Kaiser was in David’s arms and she kept yelling so he asked her to leave and she didn’t… Simple.” 

“That was my nephew and Jace she took… Not Kaiser.”

Come on, Jenelle, it’s never really simple when the police get involved, is it?

Of course, it could just be another routine day for the reality star, who’s been arrested a whopping 13 times in the past five years.

So yeah, when the cops show up at the Evans home, it’s NBD. She probably has doughnuts on hand for them at all times.

However, she made no mention of whether the entire incident was staged for MTV cameras, which just happened to be there before police arrived.

“Once deputies arrived on the scene, there were cameras already there filming the reported incident,” an officer with the New Hanover County Police Department told Radar.

Jenelle also confirmed that she no longer speaks to ex-fiance and baby daddy Nathan Griffith, noting that the two communicate through a third party to discuss visitation with his son.

So there you have it, folks. Just another beautiful day in the Evans household.

Straight Outta Compton: SNUBBED in All Major Oscar Categories!

This morning, the 2016 Academy Award nominations were announced, and many movie-lovers and industry insiders alike were surprised to see the critically-adored NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton missing from the roll in every major category.

Despite being considered a shoo-in by prognosticators, the film was snubbed for Best Picture (even though the Academy only nominated 8 out of a possible 10 films), and the acclaimed work of director F. Gary Gray and star O’Shea Jackson, Jr. was overlooked by voters.

Compton did receive one nomination – for Best Original Screenplay – but it’s worth noting that neither of the film’s principle screenwriters is black, which has resulted in criticism that the Academy has once again “white-washed” Hollywood’s biggest night.

The lack of diversity amongst Oscar nominees has been an issue for decades, but with nominations for 12 Years a Slave in 2014 and Selma in 2015, the notoriously archaic Academy seemed to be very slowly moving in a more inclusive direction.

Now, many fear that by all but ignoring one of the most popular films with a mostly-black cast in film history, Oscar voters may have squandered any goodwill they’d accumulated with the average movie-goer in recent years.

Fortunately, Straight Outta Compton remains proof positive that audiences of all colors will turn out en masse for a quality film about the struggles of minorities in America.

And in Hollywood, green will always trump gold.

Taylor Swift is Basically Shakespeare, Ryan Adams Says With a Straight Face

Ah, Shakespeare. Willy Shakes. Poet, playwright, subject of countless half-assed term papers, possible stoner, and arguably the most celebrated figure in the history of literature.

The Bard’s got quite a few achievements under his foppish Elizabethan belt, but has he ever released a multi-platinum album? Did even have a squad? We doubt it. So maybe Ryan Adams is on to something when he says Shakespeare and Taylor Swift are basically in the same boat. Or maybe he’s just being a total dumbass.

Adams recently covered Swift’s 1989 in its entirety, and while we – like most people – initially dismissed it as part of his ongoing attempt to remain relevant and sell some records to people who aren’t confused about the absence of “Summer of ’69” on the tracklist, it turns out Ryan actually has a ton of respect for Taylor.

Like, “thinks she’s on par with the greatest geniuses the Western world has ever produced”-level respect.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Ryan compared covering Taylor’s songs to “being in Ghostbusters or something, and then all of a sudden I have to go do Shakespeare.”

When the interviewer pointed out that that’s a bit of an “overgenerous analogy,” Adams replied, “Well, look, those songs are popular for a reason. She’s a popular artist for a reason.”

He may be onto something there.

Guys, we recommend you take your girlfriend to McDonald’s instead of a fancy restaurant for your next anniversary, and if she questions your decision, simply point out that Mickey D’s is more popular than any French eatery on the planet, and there must be a reason for that, non?

Then, when she dumps you, you can write an album of sad breakup music, and Ryan Adams will cover it the next time he’s out of ideas. It’s the circle of life.

Sam Smith Touts "McRomance," Swears: I"M STRAIGHT!

Sam Smith has a not-so-subtle message he would like to pass along.

The British singer, whose soulful voice and penchant for ballads have sparked numerous rumors regarding his sexuality, shared a photo Monday night on Instagram.

It featured Smith and girlfriend Tiffany Clare inside a McDonald’s and it included the simple caption of “McRomance.”

Yes, a romance. With a woman.

In case this point was not driven home sharply enough by that caption, Smith posted a different picture of Claire earlier in the week and wrote along with it:

“IM STRAIGHT STRAIGHT STRAIGHT FOR THIS GIRL @tiffany.clare.”

Hmmmm… we’re confused. We don’t get it. What, exactly, is Smith trying to say here?

These images and these antics comes on the heels of Smith telling ET Online that fans may not hear from him for a little while.

At least not in the professioanl sense.

“I’ve been playing now for three years nonstop,” Smith said. “And it feels right for me to just go home and live my life – just be a 23-year-old.”

That is perfectly fair and understandable.

We just hope Smith still makes time for the occasional photo bomb from time to time. That’s all we ask.

Justin Bieber -- Straight Booze, No Chaser ... with Rae Sremmurd (VIDEO)

Justin Bieber was boozing like a college kid during a Rae Sremmurd show … taking a huge swig straight from a bottle onstage in New Zealand.

We haven’t seen the Biebs let loose like this in a while — since cleaning up his act — but during the duo’s gig, Biebs took a dare and chugged from a bottle of Hennessy. 

Bieber never totally laid off booze, even though he battled some serious drug issues, but he’s gotta be having some regrets today … or at least a headache.

Ice Cube Photog -- "Raiders" Tees Are Straight Outta Line

Ice Cube and Forever 21 are not only a totally unexpected pairing, it’s an illegal one — according to the guy who says the retail giant ripped off his pic of the rapper to make a buck.

The t-shirts in question show Cube’s snarling face slapped on a mocked up Oakland Raiders logo. Perfect for that 20-something chick who’s just dying to rep old school rap and the silver and black … right? 

Patrick Hoelck says not so fast. He’s the photographer who took the famous pic of Ice Cube used on the t-shirt, and he says Forever 21, and another merch company called Control … never got his permission.

In the lawsuit he just filed … Hoelck says he sent both companies letters back in June demanding they yank the shirts. They didn’t, so now he wants a jury to shut ’em down, and award him their profits.

Side note: Copyrights aside, the shirt seems kinda stupid to us, since Cube’s sporting a Washington Nationals hat in the photo. Hardly screams Raider Nation.
