Tristan Thompson"s Plan: Win Championship, Win Back Khloe Kardashian
Defying the expectations of many NBA fans, Tristan Thompson helped lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to their fourth straight appearance in the NBA Finals over the weekend.
Well actually, “helped” might be a strong word.
It’s more like Tristan was present while LeBron James once again proved that if he’s on your team, you’re going to the Finals.
But we digress.
From a gossip perspective, the most interesting thing to happen to Tristan this past season has been his roller-coaster relationship with Khloe Kardashian.
And it’s not just on the court that Thompson has been proving the nay-sayers wrong.
Somehow, despite the fact that Tristan was caught cheating on Khloe while she was pregnant with his child, their romance is still alive.
From the very start of the scandal, it was rumored that Tristan and Khloe would decide the future of their relationship after the Cavs playoff run came to an end.
So in a way, Tristan might have more to gain from the Cavs world-beating postseason run than anyone else:
Not only will he have another shot at a title, he was given the gift of a two-month cushion between the day he got busted and the inevitable tearful conversation about his infidelity.
Of course, one way or another, the Cavs’ season will come to an in the next three weeks.
Which means the long-delayed talk is finally gonna go down.
Fortunately, Tristan has been doing more than riding LeBron’s coattails these past eight weeks.
He’s also been strategizing on how to save his relationship.
And it seems that his first order of business will be whisking Khloe off to some exotic locale to remind her of why she fell in love with him in the first place.
“It’s been a stressful and exhausting few months for both of them, but Tristan has promised to take Khloe away when it’s all over so they can get everything back on track again,” a source close to the situation tells Hollywood Life.
By all accounts, Khloe is open to the idea of giving Tristan another chance, but it won’t be easy for him to get back in her good graces.
Usually the most outspoken member of the Kard clan, Khloe has been keeping an uncharacteristically low profile in recent weeks.
Aside from sharing some photos of baby True, Khloe has mostly steered clear of Instagram and Snapchat.
Of course, when she does post about her romantic situation, it doesn’t sound all that promising for Tristan.
“You can be a good person, with a beautiful spirit, and still possess the authority to tell someone: ‘you got me f–cked up,"” reads a meme that Khloe posted last week.
Needless to say, it’ll be a long hard road out of the doghouse for Tristan.
And a lavish vacation might not be a sufficient demonstration that Tristan is really, really sorry for what he’s done.
That’s why so many of Khloe’s fans are expecting Tristan to really pull out all the stops.
Rumors about Khloe and Tristan getting married have been circulating since long before he got caught cheating, but as his situation seems to call for a grand gesture, don’t be surprised if Thompson finally pops the question.
If all goes according to plan, he and Khloe will both be sporting brand new rings soon.
Hopefully, Tristan can pick out an engagement rock without any help from LeBron.
