Bill Cosby & Roman Polanski Expelled From the Academy For Decades of Being Awful

Earlier this week, Bill Cosby was found guilty on three counts of sexual assault.

The news didn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s paid attention to the seemingly endless allegations against Cosby, but remarkably, it seems there are some who were caught off-guard by the verdict.

For starters, there’s Camille Cosby, who apparently believes her husband was convicted because of racism.

We’re no legal experts, but we’re gonna go out on a limb and say it had more to do with the overwhelming evidence against him.

Anyway, it remains to be seen if Cosby will actually serve time behind bars, but in the meantime, he’s already suffering the consequences of being one of the worst humans on the planet.

Toray, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences – the organization responsible for the Oscars and the Emmys – announced that Cosby has been expelled from its membership.

Not only that, Cosby’s fellow sex offender Roman Polanski has also been expelled by the Academy more than 40 years after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl.

Roman Polanski

“The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy’s values of respect for human dignity,” read a statement from the Academy.

They should’ve followed that up with “but only in cases where there’s a lot of publicity and it looks like we might wind up taking some heat.”

Obviously, the decision on Cosby was prompted by his guilty verdict.

But it remains unclear why the Academy decided to finally take action more than 4 decades after his alleged crime.

Most likely, the decision was a result of mounting pressure and the massive cultural shift that’s taken place in Hollywood over the past eight months.

Ever since the Academy expelled Harvey Weinstein in October, they’ve faced increased pressure to continue cleaning house.

Don’t get us wrong – better late than never, but we would be remiss if we didn’t ding the Academy for waiting until this scandal was middle-aged to do something about it.

Hopefully, they’ve learned a lesson from all of this.

When people are accused of genuinely monstrous acts, you don’t need to wait until dozens more accusers come forward of multiple decades pass to do something about it.

And it doesn’t matter how much you love their crappy sitcom, their pudding pop ads, or their overwrought psychological horror flicks.

Hillary Clinton Would"ve Been Drunkest President in Decades, New Book Claims

You know how sometimes you have a rough week at work, so on Firday, you decide to down a few adult beverages to take the sting out of yout latest misfortunes and failures?

Multiply that feeling by 40 bajillion and imagine that instead of accidentally hitting “reply all,” you missed out on the chance to make world history and have your face on money.

Now you have an idea of how Hillary Clinton feels.

To be fair, Clinton seems to have dealt with loss of the 2016 presidential election fairly well, all things considered.

But while she’s maintained a brave face publicly, we’re sure the defeat was traumatic, and many never fully recover from such a crushing blow.

Perhaps that’s why supporters, critics, and media figures just can’t help but let their imaginations run wild when it comes to the methods that Hillary might be using to cope with the devastation of losing the presidency to a guy who’s previous foray into politics consisted entirely of losing what was left of his mind over a freakin’ birth certificate.

Throughout the campaign, Team Trump made much of Clinton’s alleged health issues, with some far-right pundits even going so far as to suggest the 70-year-old grandmother is a raging alcoholic.

Now, a new book by New York Times reporter Amy Chozick reveals that that’s far from the case – but concedes that Clinton doesn’t enjoy her cocktails more than most contemporary political figures.

In an excerpt from Chasing Hillary published today by Radar Online, Chozick claims that if elected, Hillary would’ve been “the booziest president since FDR.”

“Beset by stereotypes that she is a hall-monitor type, buttoned up and bookish, churchgoing and dutiful, but not much fun at a keg party, in reality, Mrs. Clinton enjoys a cocktail – or three – more than most previous presidents,” Chozick writes.

Clinton has referenced her love of white wine when asked about her coping mechanisms, but the comments are usually of a joking nature.

“It wasn’t all yoga and breathing: I also drank my share of chardonnay,” she wrote in her 2017 memoir, What Happened.

Okay, so Hillary isn’t wandering the woods of Chappaqua smashed out of her mind on a thermos of gin and tonics, like some folks would have you believe, but it seems she likes to take the edge off with a beverage or three at the end of the night.

Relatable, and probably much healthier than Trump’s McDonald’s obsession.

Even so, we’re starting to hope there’s some truth to those rumors about the Rock running for president in 2020.

After that last election, Americans might be thinking that compararitively young health nut is a nice change of pace.

Harvey Weinstein: Decades of Sexual Harrassment Detailed in Scathing New York Times Piece

Since rising to fame as one of the central figures of the indie film renaissance in the early 1990s, Miramax and the Weinstein Company co-founder Harvey Weinstein has enjoyed a spot at the very top of the Hollywood food chain.

Weinstein is such a powerful figure that tales of him wielding his clout to secure everything from favorable reviews to Academy Awards are the stuff of legend within the movie industry.

Unfortunately, as is the case with so many powerful men in far too many fields, there’s a dark side to Weinstein’s ascendance that’s come to light slowly thanks to a number of brave women and their willingness to share their stories.

Weinstein’s been accused of sexual assault and harassment several times over the years, but he’s survived each scandal due largely to the tremendous amount of media influence he’s accrued over the years.

In October of 2015, actress Ashley Judd claimed she was harassed by an unnamed producer who was widely assumed to be Weinstein.

“I was sexually harassed by one of our industry’s most famous, admired-slash-reviled bosses,” Judd revealed in an interview with Variety.

“I was making Kiss the Girls at the time, and here I was, a declared feminist …  It took years before I could evaluate that incident and realize that there was something incredibly wrong and illegal about it.”

As the account followed closely on the heels of a different Weinstein sexual assault scandal, many believed that Judd was hinting that she had been assaulted by the then-Miramax chief.

Now, the allegations have been confirmed in a scathing New York Times exposé that Weinstein reportedly tried to prevent from being published.

In addition to detailing the abuse against Judd, the Times has published allegations from several women who worked for Weinstein and claim they were groped, harassed, or otherwise abused during their time in his employ.

An investigation by the Times revealed several undisclosed allegations against Weinstein across a thirty-year period.

The mogul has reportedly reached out-of-court settlements with his accusers on eight separate occasions.

The Times piece includes accusations from a temporary Miramax employee who says she was forced to massage Weinstein while he was naked, an episode that left her “crying and very distraught.”

The Times also excerpted a letter written by Weinstein colleague Lauren O’Connor to several execs at TWC that addresses the issue of Weinstein’s ongoing misconduct:

“There is a toxic environment for women at this company,” O’Connor wrote.

“I am a 28 year old woman trying to make a living and a career. Harvey Weinstein is a 64 year old, world famous man and this is his company. The balance of power is me: 0, Harvey Weinstein: 10.”

In a statement issued to the Times this afternoon, Weinstein did not deny the allegations against him, saying:

“I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.”

Sources say Weinstein will be taking an indefinite hiatus from his company.

We’ll have further updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
