Jana Duggar: Slammed For "Depressing" Comments About Jessa

If you’re a fan of the Duggar clan, by now you’re probably already familiar with the narrative surrounding Jana Duggar.

To many viewers, Jana is the “Cinderella Duggar,” forced to remain at home and help care for her parents’ massive brood while her brothers and sisters marry and start families of their own.

That characterization might be a little inaccurate (There could be lots of reasons that Jana has chosen not to marry.), but in fairness, Jana doesn’t do much to disabuse fans of the notion that she’s basically a put-upon fairytale character.

In an interview with TLC that was recorded several months ago but released this week, Jana offers some insights into what she’s most looking forward to in 2017.

“Jessa’s going to be having her little one, so I’ll be at that birth and looking forward to that,” she tells the network.

It may seem harmless that Jana’s most anticipated event of the year is Jessa welcoming her second child, but apparently, the remark struck a nerve for some viewers.

“So sad. At this age their lives should be full of excitement and promise. The only important things going on for them are projects and Jessa’s new baby,” one fan commented on the Duggars’ official Facebook page.

“She has nothing else to do but wait around for another sister to give birth. Jana your killing me. Your young your beautiful, grab some life and live it girl,” wrote another.

Look, if Jana wants to leave the house and start her own family and is being prevented from doing so, that’s legitimately very sad.

But this might be a case of fans reading a bit too much into an off-hand comment.

It’s worth pointing out that Jana’s twin, John David Duggar, is also single, but is not subjected to the same pressures and scrutiny as Jana.

Usually, the most common critiques of the Duggars (or at least the ones that don’t their efforts to cover up the Josh Duggar sex scandals) involve the family’s backwards notions about women and their place in the world.

In the case of Jana, however, it’s often the fans who play the old fashioned role and bemoan her lack of a husband and children.

See what you did, people?

You’ve made us defend the Duggars!

We’ll never forgive you for this.

Farrah Abraham Pays Tribute to Derek Underwood, Is So Depressing

Farrah Abraham is just so awful. All the time. Just the worst. The absolute worst.

And yeah, everybody says that all the time about her, but it"s just because it"s so intensely true.

For many people, it could be the truest thing they"ve ever known. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west, and Farrah Abraham is a human pile of garbage and porn and disappointment.

These are irrefutable facts.

But while Farrah is horrible, she"s still human, and the vast majority of humans are capable of being OK sometimes.

They"re at least capable of stirring some sympathy in other, less terrible souls, and believe it or not, that"s what Farrah"s doing in this new video she shared.

In the video, she and Sophia discuss "Daddy Derek," also known as Derek Underwood: the guy Farrah dated in high school.

He knocked her up, they broke up, then he tragically died in a car accident on December 28th, 2008.

Farrah was still pregnant at the time of his death, so Sophia never got to meet her father. And regardless of what you think about the most heinous Teen Mom of them all, that"s incredibly sad.

Farrah says that she and Sophia have special ways of honoring his memory during this time of year, and honestly, it"s enough to bring a tear to your eye.

Check out the sadness in the video below:

16 and Pregnant Stars By the Numbers: A Depressing Breakdown

When 16 and Pregnant debuted on MTV back in 2009, no one could"ve imagined it would launch one of the most successful realty franchises in recent history and make stars of its most memorable expectant moms.

We probably don"t need to tell you that the years haven"t always been kind to the ladies who chose to share their pregnancy and young motherhood experiences with television audiences.

You know that the paths taken by Jenelle Evans, Amber Portwood, Farrah Abraham and Leah Messer have been rocky in different ways, but what about the girls who never made it from the bush leagues of 16 and Pregnant to the majors of Teen Mom?

The Ashley"s Reality Roundup offered an insightful statistical breakdown of the lives of all the girls who were scouted by the show"s producers during its 5-season rundown, and the numbers offer a startling look not only at the show itself, but at the nature of teen pregnancy in America today:

1. 59 Girls Have Appeared on the Show

Reportedly inspired by the hit comedy Juno, 16 and Pregnant ran for 5 seasons and fetured just under 60 girls.

2. 95% (56 Girls) Chose to Raise Their Children

The vast majority of the girls kept their babies, despite the obvious risks and sacrifices of raising a child at such a young age.

3. 5% (3 Girls) Chose Adoption

A small percentage of the girls chose to put their children up for adoption, including Catelynn Lowell (pictured). Catelynn later had a second child with husband Tyler Baltierra, and the couple mainatins a relationship with their firstborn.

4. 25% (15 Girls) Have Married Their Baby’s Father

Lowell and Baltierra aren’t the only ones who eventually got hitched. A full 25% of the girls eventually married their baby’s fathers.

5. 10 of Those Marriages Ended in Divorce or Separation

It didn’t always last. Leah Messer (pictured) has now been divorced.

6. 75% Chose Not to Marry the Father

The vast majority of the girls opted to stay single. We assume Farrah Abraham has been a chaste virgin ever since she got knocked up. (Ed note: LOLOLOLOLOL)

Teen Mom 2 Looks Really, Really Depressing

For the most part, least.

Teasers for the upcoming season of Teen Mom 2 (premiering March 21st at 10pm on MTV), show Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin fighting as he awaits deployment, Leah Messer losing primary custody of her children, and Jenelle Evans going through yet another boyfriend.

We’ve chronicled their ups and downs in real time, but come Monday, fans will get a first-hand look at, for example, why Messer lost her children to ex-husband Corey Simms, and why Lowry and Marroquin cannot get along.

MTV offered a glimpse at this season, and it was a little (read: very) heartbreaking.  Lowry revealed that she suffered a miscarriage, while her husband admitted that he was really looking forward to having another baby.

Evans’ issues have more to do with boyfriend drama than actual parenting, and ever since she made public her history with her estranged father, we can’t help but feel bad for the deep-rooted relationship issues she suffers from.

Speaking of which, her new boyfriend, David Eason sounds like a sweetheart!  If Evans’ ex-fiance and baby daddy, Nathan Griffiths is to be believed, Eason has a history of domestic violence!  Let’s allow him to watch the children while Evans heads to court.  Again.

Then there’s Messer, who has been through two divorces and just broke up with her live-in boyfriend of nine months, T.R. Dues.  Messer spent a lot of time in court battling her first ex-husband, Corey Simms for primary custody of their twin daughters, and then she received devastating news about her daughter, Aliannah, who is battling muscular dystrophy.

The only slice of happiness in this otherwise depressing season looks to be Chelsea Houska’s engagement to Cole DeBoer.  After her awful baby daddy, Adam Lind, once texted “You fat stretch mark bitch…Tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake,” we are very pleased that Houska found love.

So, have your Xanax at the ready for Monday night’s premiere.
