Elton John: Recovering from Potentially Deadly Infection
Elton John sure sounds like he’s had a rough few weeks.
The 70-year-old was rushed to the hospital when it emerged that he had contracted a “harmful and unusual” bacterial infection during his recent tour in South America.
A representative confirmed the news on Monday.
“After spending two nights in intensive care followed by an extended stay in the hospital, Elton was released from hospital on Saturday, April 22 and is now comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice,” the statement reads.
“Infections of this nature are rare and potentially deadly. Thankfully, Elton’s medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully.”
Despite being struck down by the mysterious illness, Elton is “expected to make a full and complete recovery” and will continue his tour on June 3.
That shows just how much dedication the singer has to meet his fans and sing his back catalog of hits to them.
Unfortunately, the remainder of his April and May performances have been canceled, while he recuperates from the illness.
As you can probably expect from someone who has been in the business for many years, he has amassed a legion of fans who sent their well-wishes to him after learning he was unwell.
“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them,” John said in a statement, thanking fans for their support at this difficult time.
“I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”
We wish Elton a speedy recovery.

Gabby Douglas Misses VMAs, Back In Hospital For Serious Mouth Infection
While viewers were wondering where Gabby Douglas was at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, the gold medalist was battling a pretty serious mouth infection.
So serious that it sent her back into the hospital on Sunday night.
“Gabby is back in the hospital tonight being treated for a seriously infected past mouth injury,” the gymnast’s publicist told People Magazine.
“She continues to have deep swelling and adverse reactions to medication.”
Prior to that, Douglas Instagram’d a photo of herself in bed, wishing she were with her four teammates, Aly Raisman, Simone Biles, Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez , who presented Beyonce with Best Female Video.
“Out of the hospital & resting comfortably! #FinalFive so sad I can’t be with u all to present tonite@MTV thank u xoxo #VMAs #myview,” Douglas Instagram’d.
When only four of the five Rio 2016 teammates arrived on the red carpet, viewers wondered when Douglas was.
“I think she’s feeling a little better, but she’s staying home as a precaution,” Biles told People.
“We’re sad she couldn’t be here to enjoy this with us. We miss her!”
Douglas has not had it easy during and after this summer’s Olympic games. She didn’t put her hand over her heart when the national anthem play after her team won gold in the all-around competition. Instead, she said, she “stood to attention.
Douglas’ mom, Natalie Hawkins, came to her defense.
“I don’t think respecting your country or your flag boils down to whether you put your hand over your heart or not,” she told Reuters.
“When the Star Spangled Banner is played, most military members either salute or stand to attention.
“We grew up in the military community,” Hawkins added. “My mom spent almost 30 years in the military, my dad’s a two-time Vietnam vet.
“Because of that it was so insulting that they would accuse my daughter of being unpatriotic when we are so tied to the military family.”
All controversy aside, we hope Douglas gets well soon.

Kardashian Family: FREAKING OUT Over Khloe"s Staph Infection!
Earlier this week Khloe Kardashian canceled her book tour due to unspecified health issues.
We later learned that Khloe was suffering from a staph infection, which she probably contracted during her many hours at Lamar Odom’s hospital bedside.
When caught early and treated properly, staph infections usually aren’t life-threatening, but Khloe’s loved ones are reportedly freaking out over her condition, and given her family history, it’s hard to blame them.
According to TMZ, Kris Jenner’s father died from a hospital-borne staph infection that he contracted while recuperating from a car accident in 1975.
Sources say Kris went into a full-blown panic upon hearing about Khloe’s infection.
To make matters worse, doctors have reportedly ordered Khloe to keep her distance from 8-months pregnant Kim Kardashian.
It’s just a precaution to ensure that she doesn’t pass the infection along to her very pregnant sis, but it makes Khloe’s condition seem like it’s something to be afraid of, which has reportedly raised the level of concern amongst her siblings.
Fortunately, Khloe’s young, and we’re sure she’s receiving the best medical care money can buy.
We can understand why her family is concerned, but we’re sure Khloe will be back to giving interviews about her butt in not time.
It’s what she was born to do.

James Caan -- Hospitalized in Toronto For Chest Infection

James Caan checked into a Toronto hospital after suffering from a chest infection.
We’re told the 75-year-old actor, who’s in town filming “Operation Insanity” with Paul Sorvino, was admitted Tuesday night. Caan has since been released after being diagnosed with a mild chest infection.
A rep for James tells TMZ he will be back to work in just a few days and is doing fine.
