Gwen Stefani: Gavin Rossdale Almost Ruined My Life, But Look At Me Now!

Prior to her divorce from Gavin Rossdale, Gwen Stefani didn’t talk much about her personal life.

Things have changed for the Orange County native, who has gone (very) public with boyfriend, Blake Shelton.

Stefani covers the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar, and since high fashion is her version of lounge wear, it was no surprise to see page after page of the singer posing in gorgeous threads at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Stefani said she’s an open book, for the most part.  There are some things she needs to keep private because of her children, she explained.

Stefani has three sons with Rossdale – Kingston, 10, Zuma, 7 and Apollo, 2.

“As a famous person, you start to think,’I can’t say all that because I’ll embarrass them or hurt them in some way.’ And especially now because they can see everything and hear everything.

“But I’ve done nothing I’m ashamed of …” she said with a laugh.

“Well, we all have a few things we’re ashamed of.”

Stefani reflected back on her life up until now, which was filled with music, boyfriends and then her husband, whom she married in 2002.

Her youngest son was  “only 11 months old when everything happened,” Stefani explained, referring to an alleged affair between Rossdale and the couple’s nanny, Mindy Mann in February 2015.

“Everybody knows what happened next,” Stefani said.

“February 9,” she recalls. “I obviously know the date.

“It was the beginning of hell. Like six, seven, eight months of torture, trying to figure out this big secret.”

Though Stefani admitted she wanted to “tell everybody” what happened, she had to hold back so that her boys wouldn’t be embarrassed.

Stefani got back to work.  She joined, started to write songs for her album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like, and embarked on her romance with Shelton.

“What happened was praying,” Stefani said of coming back from what felt like the end of her world.

“That’s my childhood, that’s how I was raised. And I think I strayed from that. But you know when it gets that bad, you just get desperate? You’re on your knees. You’re like, ‘What do I do?’ You can’t even go to your parents and ask them what to do.”

The toughest part for Stefani is sharing custody with Rossdale.  Only spending half of her time with the boys is still hard on her.

“All I wanted my whole life was to have babies, be married, like what my parents have. Then I remember thinking,’There’s gotta be a reason for this.’ Of course you go through the ‘Why me?’ and feel sorry for yourself.

“But then I was like, ‘No, this happened to me already and I made something good out of it,’ and that was Tragic Kingdom.” 

We have a feeling good things are still to come.

15 Couples Whose Real-Life Romance Ruined a Show

It happens pretty often. Actors meet while working together on a show, and the next thing you know, they hit it off.

These 15 couples dated while working on their shows, sometimes playing a couple on the show while also dating in real life. Or, in some cases, they played siblings.

Either way, those relationships (and the subsequent break-ups) definitely had an affect on their shows.

While their characters dated on The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder dated in real life. Their relationship eventually ended, which was apparently one of the reasons Nina Dobrev decided to leave the show.

2. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter

They played siblings (okay, not traditional ones) on Dexter, but Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter began dating shortly after they met, and then running off to elope. They stayed together for a while, but Michael C. Hall reportedly had multiple affairs, and the couple split. Still, they had to keep playing siblings after they were divorced. Awkward!

3. Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki

While their characters were in and on-again, off-again relationship on The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki were dating in secret. Their relationship lasted about two years.

4. Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody

The O.C.’s Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody dated while they worked on the show, but their relationship didn’t exactly work out. Later, Bilson stated that the relationship caused stress on set.

5. Kat Dennings and Nick Zano

Kat Dennings and Nick Zano dated in real life while filming 2 Broke Girls. It didn’t last, though, and Dennings is now dating Josh Groban.

6. Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes

Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes started dating when they met on the set of Dawsons Creek, but actually split up before their characters got together. That really had to be weird for them.

Kristen Stewart: Twilight Kind of Ruined My Life!

Unlike most of her co-stars, Kristen Stewart has managed to carve out a solid film career for herself.

It was a bumpy start (The Runaways was terrible), but Stewart found success with Snow White and The Huntsman, Still Alice and American Ultra.

This past week, Stewart premiered her new film, Woody Allen’s Cafe Society, at the Cannes Film Festival alongside Allen and co-stars Jesse Eisenberg, Corey Stoll and Blake Lively.

During press calls for Society, Stewart spoke candidly about her jarring rise to fame after the first Twilight premiered in 2008.

“I got really exceedingly famous at 17, and at 17 you don’t really know how to interact with more than a couple of people.

“You’re trying to figure it out. Who are you? What do I seem like? Can I affect that? Should I think about that?” Stewart explained, according to The Guardian.

“So then when it’s thrust at you and that conversation is owned by the masses and not just you or the closest people to you it kickstarts this weird thought process that is really unnatural.”

Fans were obsessed over her relationship with co-star, Robert Pattison and it felt as though the world imploded in 2012 when Stewart was caught having an affair with Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.

The fall-out was horrendous, since Sanders was married to model Liberty Bell, and Stewart was still dating Pattinson.

Stewart said she “really shut down” as a result of everything.  Being thrust into the public eye so young took its tool on her.

“I was so guarded. And that really doesn’t provide a fully- lived life,” she explained.

“There are ways to interact with media and there are ways to interact with the public and, beyond that, just human beings. Because those are all very different things.

“So I’ve found this balance of ignoring the things I find worthless and really letting in the stuff that feels human and that is by not hiding and being honest.”

Stewart recently broke up with singer Soko, whom she avoided last night at the festival’s Vanity Fair party.  The actress refuses to put a label on her sexuality.

“Me not defining it right now is the whole basis of what I’m about,” she told Variety.

“If you don’t get it, I don’t have time for you.”

Kim Kardashian Single-Handedly Ruined the MET Gala

Once upon a time, a ticket to the MET Costume Institute Ball cost $ 50, which granted one access to a small, tasteful party attended by the cream of New York society.

Today, tickets cost $ 30,000 and no one gets in for free.

It’s a sh** show, led by Kim Kardashian and the millennials she works so hard to keep up with.

The event has been put on since 1946, but it was only in 1995, when Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour stepped in, did the media start paying attention.

“There was some point when the celebrities started to take over from the models — 2005, 2007,” former publicist Paul Wilmot told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Anna’s instincts were good: making sure the stars were dressed, that no one has ever gone for free, they’re always guests of somebody who paid.

“And the billions of impressions: This is big content, all these summer movie releases, everything is timed. There is an allure: This is the moment to go into character. It’s a theatrical fete, you won’t get a better set in the world.”

Wintour greets guests at the top of the Met stairs, and her approval of your outfit is easily deciphered.

“You get to the top of those stairs, where Anna greets everyone, and it’s like you’re being greeted by the queen of England,” veteran publicist Patty Siegel told THR.

“If she isn’t smiling, it means she doesn’t love your dress.”

In 1996, the late Princess of Wales attended with the late magazine editor, Liz Tilburis, who co-chaired that year’s event.

Diana’s appearance lent even more credibility to the gala, which was becoming more mainstream.

Then, in 2013, Kim Kardashian made her debut at the ball in custom-made Givenchy.  

That same year, Gwyneth Paltrow, who has attended 5 of the galas since 1999, declared that the magic had left the museum.

“I’m never going again. It was so un-fun,” Paltrow told USA Today.  “It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all.”

Paltrow went into further detail with Australia radio hosts Kylie and Jackie O, ensuring her removal from the guest list indefinitely.

“Do you want me to be honest? It sucked,” Paltrow admitted.

“It seems like the best thing in the world. You think, ‘Oh my god, it’s going to be so glamorous and amazing, and you’re going to see all these famous people.’

“And then you get there, and it’s so hot, and so crowded, and everyone’s pushing you.

“This year it was really intense. It wasn’t fun! Kanye West was playing, and he was furious, and he threw his microphone down. It was all drama! I don’t know why he was furious.

“And everyone was dressed in punk … and I feel that we’re all a bit old to be dressed punk, you know what I mean? I didn’t. I just went kind of normal…”

Since then, West’s wife has done what she’s always done best: promote the heck out of herself getting ready for/arriving at/enjoying herself inside the museum, a once-sacred enclosure shrouded in mystery.

We used to ask ourselves, “What are all the fancy people drinking?  What do they do in there?  Do they eat their meal? WHAT EXACTLY DOES A $ 30,000 TICKET GET YOU?”

Now, we just look at Kim Kardashian or Kendall Jenner’s Snapchat/Instagram to see how they’re (for lack of a better word) cheapening what was once considered the most glamorous night of the year.

In fact, Kardashian wants to have her family’s Christmas picture taken on the steps of the Met.

“I feel like we should all go together and all wear the same designer and all have our looks be like our family’s Christmas card,” Kardashian told her younger sister, Kendall in a Vogue video promoting the gala.

“And we should actually use our Met picture on the stairs as our family Christmas card since we never have time anymore to take photos.”

People I’d rather see at tonight’s gala: British Vogue‘s Alexandra Shulman (responsible for landing Kate Middleton on the cover of June’s issue), Amal Clooney, Allison Williams, and Alicia Vikander, to name a few.  

These women represent celebrities who are discreet, subtle in their star power and not concerned with texting at their table (yes, the Kardashians did that last year).

NO REALITY TV STARS.

I like my Kardashians on the small screen, where I can binge on episodes in my PJs.  I have no use for them at an event such as this.

Also, if Sarah Ferguson, Disgraced Duchess of York, shows up, I’m picking up and moving somewhere that doesn’t have wifi, and starting a vegetable garden.  If you need me, please send word via carrier pigeon.

Seeing Fergie at an event of this caliber will most definitely do me in.

Kim Richards: RHOBH Kinda Ruined My Life!

Anyone battling substance abuse knows that calling it an “uphill battle” is an understatement.

Kim Richards acknowledged this in a feature for People Magazine.

“Yes I’ve made mistakes, but I try and try again,” she said.  “Because I do love myself, and I love my children and I want to get this right.”

Richards told the magazine that her battle against alcoholism started when she was 24 and dealing with the end of her second marriage to oil heir Gregg Davis.

Prior to that, Richards said she had “sips” of alcohol “every now and then,” but it was at that age when she admits she had her “first real drink.”

Growing up in show business, Richards said she took care of herself.

“I was always disciplined and driven about my body and what I put into it,” she explained.

“But the pressure with the divorce and the custody battle, it got to me.”

Richards said she would have a glass of wine at night, but her alcohol consumption increased gradually.

“I started noticing I was drinking a lot,” she remembers. “That’s when my issue started.”

Over the next twenty years, Richards struggled with the addiction, and went to rehab in 2011.

Joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010 was “disorienting” for the actress.

“The drama started, and there was fighting and traveling, and I got overwhelmed.”

Things came to a blow with her sister, Kyle in the season one finale, when Kyle told Kim inside a limo she was sick and “an alcoholic.”

After an April 2015 arrest at the Beverly Hills Hotel, as well shoplifting charges at a Van Nuys Target a few months later, Richards is now “in a very good place.”

She tries to keep the guilt at bay.

“I’m sorry for people I’ve let down,” she told the magazine. “But my concern is to myself and to my children, first and foremost.

“I don’t beat myself up because it makes it worse. I have to own it and accept it and move on.”

9 Men Whose Lives Were Ruined By the Kardashians

Man. The Kardashians sure do a number on dudes.

Just ask this group, whose lives – for one reason or another – were never the same after the Kardashian and Jenner women finished with them.

Kanye can probably handle it. The rest of them?

1. Lamar Odom

Was Lamar Odom’s downward spiral triggered in part by his uneasiness with fame? And how his life continued to play out in the tabloids and on the E! show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, even after he and Khloe split up? We may never know for sure, but as he battles for his life and his prognosis looks ever more grim, the Kardashians’ role in this sad saga is sure to be hotly debated and heavily scrutinized.

2. Scott Disick

Now in rehab for at least the sixth time, Scott Disick has been a party animal for years and can’t avoid his share of the blame for his own choices in life. Who cheats on the mother of their children and chooses alcohol over one’s kids? Still, his issues with the spotlight undoubtedly led to many of the demons he’s struggled with, and eventually caused him to snap.

3. Kris Humphries

Remember Kim Kardashian’s second husband Kris Humphries? The one she was married to for 72 whole days? Yeah, his NBA career flamed out almost as quickly as their marriage. Having been involved in the conversation for most improved player in pro basketball, he soon became involved in one of the most ridiculous celebrity breakups of all time … then faded into obscurity where he belongs.

4. Brody Jenner

Brody Jenner’s life is pretty damn amazing, and he’ll tell you as much, but at the same time, he’s been anti-Kardashian long before it was cool. Brody maintains a close relationship with father Caitlyn, as well as his biological half sisters Kendall and Kylie. But he’s publicly feuded with Kim, openly dislikes former stepmom Kris, and for the love of Pete, he’s had to LIVE with all of these people!

5. Ray J

The man, the myth, the amateur porn who Hit It First has made a lot of money off of his X-rated rail-a-thon, and yet it probably hampered whatever chance he had of becoming a legitimate star in his own right. Ah, the duality of riding Kim Kardashian from behind while filming it. A paradox, if you will.

6. Rob Kardashian

As the only son in a house with five sisters, the deck was stacked against Rob Kardashian from the start. He tried and failed at making socks. He was funny on Keeping Up. He went on Dancing with the Stars. Things were going okay for awhile, as he became inseparable from Khloe and her husband, Lamar Odom. But after those two split up, he went off the rails, bailed on Kim’s wedding, put on a TON of weight, started shading his family on social media, and generally turning into a recluse. Sad.
