MTV Apologizes For Racist Eva Longoria-America Ferrera Tweet

There was plenty of controversy to be stirred by the 2016 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.

Like when Ricky Gervais confronted Mel Gibson about that whole “sugar tits” thing.

Or when Leonardo DiCaprio possibly threw some shade at Lady Gaga.

Or, heck, pretty much any time Gervais opened his mouth during his opening monlogue.

At one point during the ceremony, meanwhile, MTV Australia decided to get in on the scandalous act.

It all started when Eva Longoria and America Ferrera came out to present the award for Best TV Actor in a Drama.

The actresses engaged in a very well-received bit about Latina stereotypes, an exchange likely inspired by the Golden Globes’ own mistake when the show’s Twitter account referred to Ferrera as “Gina Rodriguez” when she announced the nominations back in November.

After viewing the presentation, MTV Tweeted in an attempt at humor:

“Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying #GoldenGlobes.”

The backlash came quickly and strongly, with MTV deleting the message and then offering up the following apology:

“Our Tweet was in reference to @EvaLongoria & @AmericaFerrera’s #GoldenGlobes joke. We sincerely apologise for causing offence.

“We get it was a bad call. We’ll leave the humour to @rickygervais.”

It’s like they always say: you can joke about almost anything.

But the most controversial the territory, the funnier the joke better be,

Check out Longoria and Ferrera’s humorous interaction above and then drool over all the impressive red carpet fashion below:

Orlando Bloom: Rejected By Katy Perry at the Golden Globes?!

At last night’s 2016 Golden Globes ceremony, Katy Perry rocked the red carpet with a cleavage-baring Prada dress that earned her plenty of attention on social media.

But it seems the fashion-tweeters weren’t the only ones who were taken by Katy’s form-fitting attire, as after-party attendees claim Orlando Bloom followed Katy around like a trained puppy.

Unfortunately, for Bloom, Katy reportedly wasn’t into his advances.

Onlookers describe Bloom and Perry as getting “cozy” at the post-Globes event sponsored by Netflix and The Weinstein Company, but apparently, Katy instructed the actor to cool it with the PDA attempts, and she left by herself at the end of the night.

Perhaps Orlando would have fared better on a different night, but it seems the actor’s timing was all wrong.

Insiders say Katy got back together with John Mayer for roughly the 4,000th time just two weeks ago.

Katy’s taste in men isn’t the greatest, and neither Bloom nor Mayer have the best reputations, but if this were a biggest douche contest, we’d have to give the edge to Mayer.

If nothing else, Orlando gets credit for taking a swing at Justin Bieber.

We think it’s safe to say that John Mayer has never made such a valuable contribution to society.

A Black Bachelor: Will It Finally Happen?!?

Every week on The Bachelor, viewers are treated to the MOST EXCITING, CRAZIEST AND UNPREDICTABLE ROSE CEREMONY ON TELEVISION HISTORY.

But here is something to which viewers have yet to be treated:

An African-American star.

As viewers have mentioned and complained about for years, not once in the history of this ABC favorite have you been able to watch The Bachelor online and see a black man or woman at the center of it.

But – The Bachelor Spoilers Alert! – that may soon change.

ABC’s Entertainment Chief Paul Lee was asked about the lack of diversity during his panel at the Television Critics Association Press Tour late last week and responded as follows:

“We’re doing a whole lot of tweaks. We had a Latino Bachelor, obviously. We’re doing a whole lot of tweaks…

“I’d be very surprised if The Bachelorette in the summer wasn’t diverse.

“Perhaps I shouldn’t have said that, but I think that’s likely to happen. I think the tweaks that [creator] Mike Fleiss have put in place will get us where we want to go.”

So that’s not really an explanation for why it hasn’t happened yet.

Nor is it a guarantee that The Bachelor himself or The Bachelorette herself will be African-American.

Still, it’s something, we guess. It’s a sign of some kind of progress.

Because no matter how much we enjoy looking at Ben Higgins (and we really, really enjoy looking at Ben Higgins!), this is getting a tad bit ridiculous.

In this, the 20th version of The Bachelor, there are only three non-white women vying for Ben’s attention.

Come on now. Tweak it up, ABC. Tweak it up good.

Kate Middleton: "Embarrassed" by Unflattering Birthday Pics???

Part of me just wants to leave you with a copy of the article.

The other part of me feels compelled to sit the author down like a teacher would with her second-grade student, and ask them why they thought this was a good idea.

Celebrity Dirty Laundry claims that a tweet posted by the British Monarchy to celebrate the Duchess of Cambridge’s 34th birthday was most unflattering.

“Neither pic is very complimentary. A young, chipmunk-cheeked Kate Middleton is barely smiling in the first pic,” the site claims.

“The smile in the second photo of the all-grown-up Duchess Kate is forced and the future Queen appears a bit weary, looking older than her years in a snapshot from not long ago.”

Mmmk.

“The Royal PR machine could have chosen better photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge to share, don’t you think? Did Carole Middleton select the pic of a young Katie? Is Carole trying to make Duchess Kate look bad now that Pippa Middleton is allegedly dating Prince Harry?”

Who’s Katie?

Alrighty.  First off, Pippa and Harry aren’t dating.

Second of all, after William and Catherine announced their engagement, the Middleton family released photos of Her Royal Highness as a child.

Why?  Because they’re adorable and it’s lovely to see Catherine as a youth, “chipmunk” cheeks and all.

THEN the article goes on to suggest plastic surgery as a way for Catherine put some pep in her step, claiming that her neck appeared “wrinkly” and “droopy” on Christmas.

“Is Prince William worried that Princess Kate will turn into a plastic surgery junkie? A nip here? A tuck there? A little bit of Botox or filler to smooth out those laugh lines? A little procedure to get rid of the bags under Kate’s eyes? Perhaps a neck lift? Just in time for the alleged billion dollar coronation in April!”

Not only is the report made up (it’s something you would write up if you were penning a soap opera), but attacking someone’s features is plain rude.

RUDE.
