The Josh Duggar-Ted Cruz Connection: Is It a Problem For the Candidate?

Last year, Josh Duggar posted a photo on social media that showed him posing with Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

At the time, Josh was a lobbyist for the ultra-conservative Family Research Council and a hero to the evangelical right.

In the months since that photo was taken, Duggar and Cruz would both find themselves at the center of major national news stories, but for very different reasons.

The Josh Duggar sex scandals went from tabloid murmurs to the stuff of network news broadcasts overnight, eventually bringing an end to the Duggar empire as we knew it.

Cruz has been making headlines for very different reasons as the sole GOP presidential candidate to withstand the onslaught from Donald Trump’s bully pulpit.

In recent weeks, the Cruz campaign has been dodging a potential PR nightmare thanks to the National Enquirer‘s report that Cruz has engaged in five extramarital affairs during his time in the Senate.

The tabloid went on to claim that Cruz cheated on his wife with Katrina Pierson – a former Tea Party activist who’s currently working for the Trump campaign.

Thus far, the Cruz team has been able to sweep the whole thing under the rug, and the proof promised by the editors of the Enquirer has yet to materialize.

But now more than ever, Cruz is probably very happy that he chose to severe ties with the Duggar family in the weeks following last year’s scandals.

With some already questioning the senator’s commitment to evangelical ideas, any reminder that he was once happy to be associated with a family whose name is now synonymous with hypocrisy could prove disastrous.

There was a time an endorsement from the Duggars could prove a major asset for a conservative political campaign.

The Duggar seal of approval was so sought-after at one point that Mike Huckabee continued to defend the family even after the allegations that Josh molested four of his sisters went public.

His rivals were sure to note remind potential Huckabee voters of this during the former Arkansas governor’s ill-fated campaign for the GOP nomination.

In hopes of avoiding a similar fate, you can be sure that Cruz will continue to do his best to keep his distance from the Duggars.

Kanye West: "Smitten" with Kris Jenner! Not In Love With Kim!

Well, this is…weird.

Celebrity author Ian Halperin’s new book reveals all sorts of “details” about the private lives of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kanye West and the rest of the family.

Radar Online got the scoop on portions of the book that focus on Kardashian and West’s 2-year marriage, claiming that the two are never together when the cameras aren’t rolling.

“She’s never with him,” a source close to Kardashian (whom Radar ID’d as a “female molde) told the site.

“I think they got married with some sort of agreement to have kids together, but to lead separate lives.”

The source said she was not at all surprised when Kardashian accepted West’s proposal in October 2013.

“Kim was always very open about wanting to meet a man more rich, famous and powerful than her,” the source pointed out.

“She definitely found that guy in Kanye.”

West, on the other hand, had his own ideas.

The rapper’s mother, Donda, died in 2007 due to complications from plastic surgery, and West  “never got over it until he met Kim and loved how big a family she had.”

The major draw for West?  His future mother-in-law.

“He was smitten with Kris Jenner,” the source said, adding that West found her “smart, loving, and business-savvy.”

“In fact, I don’t think he would have married Kim if Kris Jenner wasn’t on the scene.

“He was enamored.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer Released! Watch Now!

The first of several standalone spinoff films in the Disney"s reboot of the Star Wars franchise, the awkwardly-titled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story won"t hit theaters until December, but fans are already going nuts over the first full trailer released moments ago.

Little is known about the plot, except that it the film will detail the Rebel Alliance"s efforts to steal the plans for the Empire"s infamous Death Star,

The trailer introduces us to Jyn Erso – a rebel even by the Rebel"s standards – played by Academy Award nominee Felicity Jones.

Erso is part of a team of badasses – rogues, if you will – who are tasked with the potentially deadly mission of stealing the blueprints for the planet-destroying monolith that was blown up by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope.

If the chronology seems a bit confusing, allow us to break it down:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which recently made all of the money in the known universe, takes place about 40 years after the events of the A New Hope (aka the first film, aka just Star Wars).

The as-yet untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII will continue that story, but Rogue One, is its own thing – a rogue one, if you will – and will serve as a prequel to the entire franchise.

Get it? If not, don"t worry about it. Lots of stuff blows up in the trailer.
