John Berry Dies; Original Beastie Boys Member Was 52

John Berry, an original members of iconic rap group the Beastie Boys, passed away on Thursday at a hospice in Danvers, Massachusetts.

He was 52 years old.

The guitarist was credited by the band as the creator of its name.

He tragically suffered from frontal lobe dementia, however, which had grown worse in recent months, according to his father, John Berry III, via Rolling Stone.

Berry and Mike Diamond, who were classmates at the Walden School in New York, formed the Beastie Boys in July 1981 with Adam “MCA” Yauch and Kate Schellenbach.

The group’s first show even took place at Berry’s old loft at the corner of West 100th St. and Broadway on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City.

In 1982, not long after the release of their first EP, Berry and Schellenbach departed the Beasties Boys and were replaced by Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz.

Fast forward to 2012 and The Beastie Boys were elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Along with Run-D.M.C. and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, they were just the third rap group to earn this distinction.

Among their most popular hits, many of which you can still hear on the radio today, were “Fight for Your Right,” “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” and “So What’Cha Want.”

Yauch died at age 47 after a long battle with cancer in late 2012.

In 2014, Diamond confirmed that the Beastie Boys would not continue out of respect for their late member.

We send our condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of John Berry.

Sir Mix-a-Lot Defends Blake Lively, Big Butts Everywhere

XOXO?

More like XOX…  NO! What?!? Huh?!?

That was the reaction many people had after Blake Lively commented on her own body part at the Cannes Film Festival this week.

The gorgeous actress walked the red carpet in France in a striking gold dress, one that showed off her impressive figure.

But she caused quite a stir when she shared pictures of herself in the ensemble on Instagram and wrote as a caption:

“LA face with an Oakland booty.”

For those somehow unaware, this is a line from the classic Sir Mix-a-Lot track “Baby Got Back.”

It’s a reference to her rear end and it was taken as some to be racially insensitive because the implication is that her face is nice and beautiful and white, like people from Los Angeles)…

… while her butt more closely resembles the type of butt you see on residents in Oakland, a city with large percentage of African-American residents.

What does Sir Mix-a-Lot think about this unexpected scandal?

The rapper has actually weighed in! With a pretty insightful opinion!

“For her to look at her butt and that little waist and to say, ‘L.A. face with an Oakland booty’ doesn’t that mean that the norm has changed, that the beautiful people have accepted our idea of beautiful?” the artist told Pret-a-Reporter.

“That’s the way I took it.”

Sir Mix-a-Lot then explained further:

“Now let me do this, as far as the critics are concerned: I don’t want to come off like, ‘Oh, he’s an Uncle Tom,’ because I’m not.

“If what Blake Lively meant by that comment was, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve gained weight, I look horrible,’ if that’s what she meant – and I doubt that she did – then I’m with the critics.

“But no one in the world is gonna tell me that a woman that wears that dress is thinking that she’s fat. No, I’m sorry, it just doesn’t happen.

“It sounds like to me like she was giving the line props.”

He makes a good point, doesn’t he?

Perhaps a wealthy white actress should not compare herself to a random woman from Oakland, one could maybe take that side.

But it’s hard to argue that Lively wasn’t saying her butt is kind of big… yet she likes it that way. Why else would she show it off in this manner?

“I think it’s almost a nod of approval, and that was what I wanted,” Sir Mix-a-Lot concluded.

“I wanted our idea of beautiful to be accepted. I think now not only is it accepted, but it’s expected.”

Case closed, we say!

Now, as for whether Blake Lively is actually 40 years old…

Scott Disick Reveals Way Too Much on Instagram

Scott Disick just shared way too much on Instagram.

No, we’re not teasing a Scott Disick penis picture. Thank goodness.

This is something far less sordid, but far more hilarious.

Earlier this week, Disick shared a photo of himself in a kitchen, standing over a giant tub of protein powder.

Anyone who understands a major way in which Kim Kardashian and all those in her close circle make money should have been fully aware right away that this was a promotional post.

That is, Disick was paid by the protein powder company to pose with its product and pretend as if he just uses it in his everyday life.

Except Disick accidentally took followers behind this shady curtain with his initial message, actually copying and pasting the promotional INSTRUCTIONS that had been sent his way.

oops, Scott Disick

The mistake was caught by an astute Internet user.

As you can see above, Disick wrote the following as his first caption to this photo:

“Here you go, at 4 pm est, write the below. Caption: “Keeping up with the summer workout routine with my morning @booteauk protein shake!”

HA!

Disick quickly caught his error and changed the caption to read:

“Getting my summer routine on with my morning @booteauk protein shake!”

A few days prior, he shared a different picture of himself and the protein powder (below), getting the caption right off the bat this time.

“Time for changes, getting ready the summer with a little help from the @booteauk protein shake,” he wrote.

So there you have it, readers.

Along with club appearances that book him a ton of cash (below), Disick is far richer than he deserves to be because companies pay him to say what they want on social media.

We hope you knew this already.

We hope you realize that the Kardashians and Jenners all do the same.

We doubt Christine Burke cares. She’ll still party on a yacht with Disick because, whatever, she’s still partying on a yacht.

The the average Internet user should care and not purchase any product they see members of this family talking about or posing with. It’s just a form of advertising, not a personal recommendation.
