Mary Poppins Sequel Draws Ire of the Entire Internet

It may than a spoonful of sugar for the following piece of news to go down well with movie fans around the country:

A sequel to Mary Poppins is in the works.

Mary Poppins

The original musical came out in 1964, starring Julie Andrews as a singing nanny who traveled by flying umbrella.

It won five Academy Awards and remains one of the most beloved films in Hollywood history.

Hence why critics are aghast over the possibility of it being ruined in any way by some watered-down, money-grabbing follow-up.

Fortunately, there are reasons to believe the unexpected sequel is in good hands.

It will star Emily Blunt as Poppins herself and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda as a friend named Jack.

We’re talking one of the most popular actresses in the world and THE GUY WHO CREATED HAMILTON.

Titled “Mary Poppins Returns,” the film will be released on Christmas Day of 2018.

It will find the iconic nanny reuniting with the children she helped raise, Jane and Michael Banks, with the latter now having three young kids of his own and the family having recently suffered a personal loss.

“Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack (Miranda), [Mary Poppins] helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives,” reads the Disney press release.

Mary Poppins Returns be directed and produced by Rob Marshall, the same man who recently helmed Disney’s big-budget adaptation of Into the Woods,” which featured Blunt in a key role.

Mark Shaiman will produce an brand new score for the film, while also pen original songs with Tony Award-winner and frequent collaborator Scott Wittman.

“I am truly humbled and honored to be asked by Disney to bring P.L. Travers’ further adventures to the screen,” Marshall said via statement.

“The iconic original film means so much to me personally, and I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation.”

Are you excited for a Mary Poppins sequel, given the amazing names involved?

Or does Twitter user @1DStalker sum up your feeling on the matter with the following Tweet?

“I’ve just seen that a Mary Poppins sequel has been confirmed and I shall now be logging off bc I am DONE WITH THE WORLD.”

Kailyn Lowry & Joe Marroquin Reveal Reason For Divorce

We’ve known for quite some time now that Kailyn Lowry and Joe Marroquin’s marriage is on the rocks.

The first sign that these two may be calling quits came when Kailyn and Javi unfollowed one another after publicly fighting about a sexually explicit photo he sent to another woman.

Shortly thereafter, Kailyn confirmed she and Javi are getting divorced in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, and based on her emotional response to the end of her marriage, it doesn’t seem like Marroquin has much of a chance of winning her back.

According to her statements in interviews and on social media, Kailyn feels “nothing” about her split from Marroquin.

She’s tweeted that her focus remains on her education and her children and that she and Javi will work out a custody arramgement when he returns from his tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force.

But it wasn’t always that way:

In the above preview for the upcoming season finale of Teen Mom 2, it’s Javi who’s cutting off all attempts at reconciliation, and Kailyn who seems distraught by the prospect of breaking up.

The reason for the split?

Well, Javi might argue that it’s more complex than this, but it seems pretty clear he’s dropping Kailyn because she doesn’t want to have any more children:

“You don’t want to be with me because I don’t want to have any more kids?” Kailen asks him point-blank.

“Well, that’s a big reason why,” Javi says. “I didn’t say I don’t want to be with you, I said we’re not going to work.”

Kailyn sees through the BS, responding:

“Right. So, we’re not going to work out because I don’t want to have any more children?”

“Right. And your excuse is bullsh-t,” Javi shoots back.

It’s then that Kail says exactly what every viewer at home is thinking:

“It’s about the fact that it’s so f–king hard to have two kids by myself and go to school. And then imagine if I had a third kid! I want to be working full time when I graduate. I want to be working!”

Looks like Javi’s not the sensitive, empathetic soul we initially thought.

Sydney Holland: Sumner Redstone"s Ex Joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

She’s philanthropic! She’s a working woman! She wants to be a Housewife!

Meet Sydney Holland, a gal who bills herself as a producer, but is more well-known for dating studio executive Sumner Redstone, 93.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news that Holland, 44, had pitched herself to producers to the join the cast of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Holland and Redstone – who is chairman emeritus of Viacom and CBS – were set up by Patti Stanger on The Millionaire Matchmaker.  They dated for five years before Redstone broke it off after Holland had an affair with former actor, George Pilgrim.

When Redstone found out that Holland and Pilgrim were shacking up in her Sedona home, he kicked her to the curb.

“He exploded and told Holland to ‘get the fuck out of my house’ and within two days every trace of her was gone, including Holland’s two-year-old adopted daughter, Alexandra Red, whom Holland has described as delighting Redstone, toddling around the house and sitting on his lap,” a source told Vanity Fair.

“‘Sydney is out of his life,’ explains the source, who is familiar with the situation. ‘It’s now, ‘Sydney who?’ There’s no fucking with this man ever. As Ace Greenberg [the late former chairman of Bear Stearns] used to say, ‘If you mess with Sumner you are going to lose.’”

Holland also flips houses (reportedly with money “given” to her from Redstone), according to Variety.  She purchased homes owned by Jessica Simpson, one leased by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, and has managed to make a profit on most, if not all, projects.

Holland’s reps reportedly sent a “sizzle reel” to producers to show that she can hold here own against Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Eileen Davidson, Erica Girardi (Erika Jayne), Yolanda Foster, Kathryn Edwards and Lisa Vanderpump.

Though rumors have made the rounds about casting decisions for season seven, neither Andy Cohen nor Bravo have made any official statements about who is leaving, and who is staying.

While we wait for word on whether Holland is a go or not, let’s dream us some tag lines!

How about: “I dig for gold, then turn a profit.”

Or, “Live with a rich old man long enough, and your investment just might pay off.”
