Christina and Tarek El Moussa: Are They Dating Other People?

Christina and Tarek El Moussa’s split may have shocked fans, but only because they kept their marital issues so private for much of the year.

The fact they’re apparently on such good terms, despite the issues that led to the demise of their marriage, also helped keep up appearances.

The Flip or Flop couple’s breakup was revealed earlier this week following a surprising report about a police incident dating back to May.

Tarek and Christina separated after an argument in which he stormed out of the house with a gun to “blow off steam” and she called 911.

Details of the 911 call El Moussa placed after this have been revealed – and confirmed by the couple, though they say it was a misunderstanding.

In any case, they haven’t begun divorce proceedings yet, and want to continue working together – both as parents and on their HGTV hit.

“We plan to continue working together in front of the camera,” they said. “We have been working towards this for the past five years.”

“As you can imagine, fame is a mixed bag. We decided to separate while we reevaluated the next steps in our married life.”

“We believed this was in the best interests of the children and the best way to determine a path forward,” the couple adds.

As for whether they will get back together someday?

Don’t bet on it, based on this candid assessment:

“We have both dated other people following the separation, but neither of us is ready to announce anything in terms of another relationship.”

The HGTV tandem also explained that Christina’s 911 call about Tarek’s alleged suicide attempt was not as bad as it sounds, saying:

“His intentions were misread. Once [police] were there it was determined that he had no negative intentions towards himself or anyone else.”

“There was no violence, no threat, no arrest.”

Christina had been “crying and shaking” when police arrived, which they didn’t explain, but sounds like a pretty bad argument happened.

In any case, the couple tried working out their issues through therapy and counseling, but was unsuccessful, and they ended up separating.

El Moussa family insiders revealed that while this may surprise fans, “in a lot of ways they just seemed wildly incompatible” in general.

“She has champagne tastes; he’s a beer-from-a-can kind of guy,” one source said, which worked fine when they could only afford the latter.

Working together to get by in a tough real estate market and to do the best with what they had, they were on the same page for awhile.

Then they started to make it big, and bigger still.

The source blames Flip or Flop, at least in part:

“She didn’t really expect to become a TV star, but she wants to enjoy their success and build their brand and really likes being out there.”

Basically, when one party likes the public aspect of their success more than the other, and starts to favor a different kind of lifestyle?

They’re neither the first, nor the last, to split for such reasons.

“Christina would be on board for plot lines producers came up with like freaking out over the wrong tile [or] finding a dead rodent in the corner.”

Tarek, conversely, “was always more reluctant” as a “star.”

“He’d pull it off, but he was never going to be a natural.”

Tarek, 35, and Christina, 33, are parents to daughter Taylor, 6, and son Brayden, 1, and say they are strongly committed to co-parenting.

At least outwardly, they seem to be doing well there. We wish them continued success figuring this out, whatever conclusion they reach.

Aleppo Residents Record Mass Slaughter in Real Time, Tweet Goodbye

With the Syrian army closing in this week on rebel-held areas in Aleppo, thousands of civilians in this war-torn city have been trapped in small pockets of opposition territory.

By some estimates, 50,000 residents are essentially waiting to either be killed or taken hostage, sitting helplessly in a one-square mile radius of town.

A UN spokesman has referred to the horrific situation as a “complete meltdown of humanity.”

Earlier this month, a seven-year old girl named Bana Alabed made global headlines when she posted multiple messages on social media that implied she and her mother were about to be captured.

Alabed and her mom, Fatemah – who have been tweeting the horrors from East Aleppo since September – appear to have avoided said capture…

… but they now fear as if their days on Earth are numbered.

Tweeted Fatemah on Monday:

She has since written the following, posted about seven hours ago:

“Dear world, there’s intense bombing right now. Why are you silent? Why? Why? Why? Fear is killing me & my kids.”

Here is a photo of Bana Alabed:

Fatemah is far from the only Aleppo resident recording this mass slaughter in real time.

As events continue to unfold in the area and the death toll continues to mount, those trapped in the city are screaming at the world over social media, saying goodbye forever; wondering why no one is helping them; or both.

“This may be my last video. More than 50,000 civilians who rebelled against the dictator [Syrian President Bashar] al-Assad are threatened with field executions or are dying under bombing,” Lina Shamy, an activist in eastern Aleppo, said in a video shared on Twitter.

Calls for a ceasefire by the United Nations have been ignored by Syria and Russia, who is aiding the government with an intensive air campaign.

Officials from these nations have vowed to continue the offensive until the rebels surrender or die.

Elsewhere, a teacher and father (who tweets under the handle @Mr.Alhamdo) wrote on Tuesday afternoon of his simple desire to see his young daughter taste a banana for the first time.

He now doubts this will ever happen.

“I just wanted to make my daughter taste the banana,” he Tweeted. “She likes such food. She hasn’t tasted it yet. I might not be able to do that.”

There are no words to express how we feel about the situation in Aleppo.

It’s heartbreaking. It’s surreal. It’s the very worst of humanity.

We can only offer our thoughts and prayers to all involved.

Leonardo DiCaprio Pays Touching Tribute to Alan Thicke

Last night, the world learned that beloved sitcom star Alan Thicke passed away after suffering a massive heart attack while playing hockey with his son.

Thicke has been mourned by millions on social media, including many celebrities who knew the actor personally.

Of course, despite his many roles over the years, Thicke remains best known as Jason Seaver on the long-running ABC series Growing Pains – a show that also launched the career of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Leonardo DiCaprio wasn’t an original member of the Growing Pains cast, but he’s often said that when he signed on in the show’s final season, at the age of 16, he was welcomed like family.

Today, the Oscar-winner posted a moving tribute to Thicke on his Facebook page:

“Alan was a devoted father, husband, friend and role model. He knew how to harness the power of the entertainment industry to be a positive influence in so many lives – including mine.

“I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Alan early in my career. He had tremendous class, a huge heart, and he taught me and so many others the valuable lessons about humility and gratitude.

“I’ve seen him a number of times over the years and when Alan Thicke walked in the room, quite frankly, no one was cooler. I miss him already – my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Thicke family during this difficult time.”

Actor Kirk Cameron, who starred on the show as Thicke’s son, Mike Seaver, also shared come kind words about one of his first co-stars on social media:

“I spent Monday through Friday for seven important years with Alan Thicke as my ‘TV dad.’ I’m shocked and truly heartbroken today at the news of his death,” Cameron wrote on Instagram.

“Alan was a generous, kind and loving man. I am so blessed to have grown up with him. Chelsea and I send our love and prayers to his family tonight. We will cherish the memories…’sharing the laughter and love."”

Thicke is survived by three children, including his eldest son, pop singer Robin Thicke.
