College Student Dies from Pancake-Eating Contest
Caitlin Nelson, a student at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, passed away Sunday after choking three days earlier during a pancake-eating contest.
She was 20 years old.
A social work major at the Fairfield, Connecticut-based institution, Nelson went into convulsions Thursday night during the flapjack contest, which was held as part of a Greek Life charity dinner.
Witnesses tell The Associated Press that the junior ate four or five pancakes before she fell on the floor and started shaking uncontrollably.
The Fairfield Police Department said cops rushed to the charity dinner and attempted to clear Nelson’s airway, but their attempts failed.
“There was a lieutenant there in two minutes,” a police source told The New York Daily News on Monday. “He ran across campus to try to help her. They couldn’t get the airway open.
Nelson was later transported to New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and and pronounced dead on April 2.
Her vital organs have been harvested and will be used to help other patients.
Lieutenant Robert Kalamaras, who was the first to arrive on the scene, said Nelson suffered from food allergies, but investigators don’t think this condition contributed to her death.
“You have a family that lost their very young and very vibrant daughter, and you have the Sacred Heart University community that lost one of their students. It’s just a tragic accident.” Kalamaras said in a statement, adding:
“Unfortunately, the pancake was impacted in there, in her throat, and the officers were trying to get it out.”
On Sunday night, as you can see above and below, the campus held a candlelight vigil in Nelson’s honor.
This would be a tragic story in almost any circumstance, of course, but Nelson’s father was a Port Authority police officer and died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Nelson worked as a a certified youth mental health counselor and volunteered at the Resiliency Center of Newtown, Connecticut a nonprofit group helping those affected by the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
“It’s about healing and helping,” Nelson told TapIntoClark.net, a local New Jersey news website, at one point. “It’s about paying it forward.”
“Like her father, right up until the end she was giving of herself, and proof of that is her organs are all being donated,” Robert Egbert, a spokesman for the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, told The New York Post of Caitlin.
“She indicated throughout her life that she was an organ donor. Like her father, who gave everything he possibly could so others could live right up until the end, Caitlin just did the same thing.”
Added Paul Nunziato, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association: “My heart is broken for Caitlin’s family.
“Like her dad, who gave all he possibly could in the final moments of his life so others may live, Caitlin also gave all she could so others live.”
What a horrible tragedy.

Demi Rose Mawby: Is She Banging Tyga Again?!?
It’s all over for Tyga and Kylie Jenner.
This much we know. For the most part.
But the break-up of this power couple took fans by surprise last month, considering their relative stability for several weeks prior and the talk that wedding bells could even be in the air for Kylie and Tyga.
What changed?
How did they go from Sure Thing to No Thing so quickly?
Based on the Instagram account of Demi Rose Mawby, some Internet users now believe they have an answer.
And it’s a pretty simple one that goes something like this:
Tyga cheated on Jenner with Demi Rose Mawby.
Mawby is a 22-year old model from Great Britain who struck up a brief romance with the rapper in May of last year, during one of Tyga and Kylie’s many breaks in 2016.
They met at a party in Cannes and “we really liked each other,” Mawby admitted to the Sun. “But logistically it didn’t work out in the end… you know, everything happens for a reason.”
Demi, who has appeared in music videos with DJ Khaled and Chris Brown, has been uploading more photos than usual to her social media page of late, however.
And these aren’t just your basic, run-of-the-mill selfies, either.
They show off Mawby’s cleavage and some even include hearts drawn over various parts of the model’s body.
Is this influx of sexy photos a mere coincidence? Or is Mawby basically seducing Tyga online?
Is she confirming that she and the annoying artist have rekindled their romance?
Neither Tyga nor Jenner has said much about this pause in their relationship, but an insider tells People Magazine that it may very well be nothing to get concerned over.
It’s sort of just how the stars roll.
“They tend to take little breaks all the time and then get back together. It’s definitely possible they’ll work things out again,” said this source last week.
A second recent report, meanwhile, lands somewhere in between.
It claims that Tyga and Kylie aren’t doing great, but aren’t totally broken up, either.
“Kylie is sad as she and Tyga are living separate lives,” an insider tells Hollywood Life, adding:
“Lately she has been spending more time with friends and less time with Tyga, as things really are cooling off between them.”
If this rumor about Tyga banging Demi Rose Mawby is accurate, we have a feeling things will go from cool to ICE COLD.
Then again, we could be making too much out of Mawby’s new round of Instagram photos.
She does have over four million followers. And it’s not because she writes messages of hope or sings online or does anything except flaunt her nearly-naked body on a frequent basis.
Yes, these pictures have been even more frequent of late.
And we’re a celebrity gossip website; of course we’re going to ask questions and speculate.
But we’ll keep fans apprised on whether or not Mawby is back in Tyga’s bed once again once we do some more research.

Sugar Bear on June Shannon Weight Loss: Holy S--t Man!
We"ve observed and documented some impressive feats of celebrity weight loss over the years at The Hollywood Gossip.

Simply put, however, we"ve never seen a body transformation before quite like that of former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star June Shannon.
And it"s clear we aren"t alone.
In the following clip from this Friday’s Mama June: From Not to Hot, the former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star heads to her ex-home in McIntyre, Georgia to flaunt her new figure for ex-husband Sugar Bear.

June tells the camera crew for her WE tv show:
“Just being back in McIntrye brings back a lot of bad memories. People who haven’t seen me in a couple of years are going to be shocked."

That says it all, right?
Shannon formerly weighed approximately 460 pounds; then she underwent gastric sleeve surgery and stuck to an intense diet and exercise regimen.
Her goal was to slim WAY down, and it seems fairly obvious to anyone who"s seen her lately that she accomplished that and then some.
She also endured several plastic surgeries, including excess skin removal on her neck and arms, along with a tummy tuck and a boob job.
