Survivor Series 2016 Results: WTH Just Happened?!?

Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar put on one of the least memorable WWE matches in history at Wrestlemania 20.

Both men were about to leave the company. Both were booed throughout the contest. And it concluded with both on the ground, courtesy of a Stone Cold Steve Austin Stunner.

At Survivor Series on Sunday night, however, Goldberg and Lesnar put on one of the most memorable matches in pay-per-view history.

For a very different reason.

Having not wrestled in 12 years and going up against the man who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania, Goldberg was expected to perhaps put up a decent fight against Lesnar.

And then to succumb to the heel who has been destroying all opponents in the ring for about two years now.

Instead, however, the match lasted about two minutes.

Goldberg shoved Lesnar to the mat. He delivered two spears to the occasional UFC star. And Goldberg then hoisted Lesnar in to the air for a Jackhammer and the pin.

1… 2… 3! And that was it!

Twitter reacted in absolute shock, and anger, to this unexpected squash. To wit:

Do we understand the response of those who can’t believe or understand why the WWE would give such a push to a 50-year old wrestler who has said Survivor Series was a one-time deal?

Absolutely.

But come on. This was a legitimately stunning result.

It has the entire Internet talking. Shouldn’t that be the goal of nearly every big pay-per-view?

We can also see an angle in which Lesnar comes out… acknowledges he was only acting as a part-time wrestler due to his UFC commitment… and then challenges Goldberg to a match at Wrestlemania, one which Lesnar swears he’ll train for.

Hard.

Who would not tune in to see that payoff?!?

As for the other action on the card, which most viewers have likely forgotten about already…

Women’s 5-on-5 Elimination Match: Raw (2 survivors) defeated SmackDown.

Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) defeated Sami Zayn via pinfall to retain the title.

Tag Team 10-on-10 Elimination Match: Raw (1 survivor) defeated SmackDown.

Cruiserweight Championship: The Brian Kendrick (c) defeated Kalisto via disqualification.

Men’s 5-on-5 Elimination Match: SmackDown (2 survivors) defeated Raw.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF BILL GOLDBERG UTTERLY DOMINATING BROCK LESNAR?
