It really is all over for Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa.
About a month after news of their separation broke, People Magazine has now confirmed that Tarek has filed for divorce from Christina.
The parents of two adorable kids (a six-year old daughter named Taylor and a one-year old son named Brayden) are best (heck, only) known for starring on the HGTV renovation program Flip or Flop.
Neither Tarek nor Christina have released a statement regarding the divorce filing.
But both sides did speak out in mid-December after we learned that they had been living apart since May.
At some point that month, the couple got into an argument that resulted in Tarek storming out of their California residence… with a gun in hand.
Panicked, Christina called the authorities, who eventually tracked Tarek down in the woods.
He denied having any kind of suicidal thoughts at the time and simply said he brought the weapon with him as protection against animals in the woods.
Once this strange and scary incident was made public, the HGTV stars were forced to announce their separation.
“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage,” the pair said in the statement on December 12, adding:
“We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.”
The El Moussas said they went to a few counseling sessions, yet were unable to save their union.
“We are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be,” they concluded.
Over the past few weeks, it’s come out that Christina is dating Gary Anderson, who both witnessed the frightening fight/gun incident mentioned above and who also worked as the family contractor.
According to In Touch Weekly, it was an argument over how close Christina has grown to Anderson that led to the couple’s infamous fight.
“Christina grew close to Gary,” an insider tells the tabloid, explaining:
“Tarek was suspicious that she was getting involved with someone… Tarek saw Christina’s phone and [believed] there was some inappropriate texting going on between Christina and Gary.”
However, in a joint statement to the publication, both Tarek and Christina deny any kind of cheating allegations.
“Neither of us was involved in a romantic relationship with any third party prior to our separation, or believes the other was.”
Since he became single, Tarek has reportedly dated the family nanny.
In other words: both sides clearly moved on long before this divorce decision.
Where do they go from here?
HGTV has said the current season of Flip or Flop will continue to film and the network will re-evaluate the future of the series some time this year.
But sources have claimed the show will come to an end in 2017, with the situation simply having grown too awkward and ugly and the ratings unable to justify continuation.
We’ll need to wait and see.
For now, we can simply send our best wishes to both halves of the former couple and pass along a message to Christina:
If it doesn’t work out with Anderson… call us!
