Justin Bieber Breaks Down, Offers Message of Hope in Manchester

Justin Bieber can often give folks a reason to dislike him.

On Sunday night, however, the artist gave us a reason to stand up and applaud.

Bieber was one of several major musicians to join Ariana Grande on stage in Manchester for a special tribute concert just a few days after a terrorist killed 22 people at her concert in that same city.

This event was dubbed "One Love Manchester" and it drew such big names as Grande, Bieber, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry.

It also raised approximately $ 2.6 million for a Red Cross Manchester Emergency Fund that will assist victims of the attack and their families.

Bieber, meanwhile, sang acoustic versions of “Love Yourself" and "Cold Water” prior to delivering a heartfelt speech to all those in attendance.

“I just want to honor those who were lost, those that were taken from us,” the singer said as he fought back tears, continuing as follows:

“We love you so much, to the families we love you so much. Put both hands up to honor those people right now.”

Justin then drew on his faith in an attempt to deliver a message of hope.

"God is good in the midst of the darkness; God is good in the midst of evil," he said.

"God is in the midst, no matter what is happening in the world. And he loves you, and he"s here for you."

During his performance, Bieber also started a chant of the word “love” among the crowd.

The speech below, along with Grande"s closing number, were probably the emotional highlights of a very sentimental evening.

The mood at the concert was understandably somber after a terrorist attack in London – which left seven people dead and 48 injured after three men drove into a crowd and attacked with knives – took place less than 24 hours ahead of the concert.
