Monday on Teen Mom OG Season 5 Episode 16, Gary Shirley and Kristina Anderson tried to say that Amber Portwood was a bad mother.
You’ll be shocked to know this didn’t go over well.
If you watch Teen Mom OG online, you know that Amber Portwood and her ex Gary Shirley, have not always been on the best terms.
Well, after discovering that Gary and his wife, Kristina Anderson, were talking smack about her, Amber proceeded to freak out.
Sadly, this was not shown on TV.
We saw the aftermath, though, in which Gary got upset, telling her that Amber wanted a “break” after her split from Matt Baier.
That would be more than reasonable, depending on one’s definition of a break. Amber was looking for a summer-long “break.”
“I can’t take a break. Millions of parents can’t take a break because they had a bad day at work or because they got a divorce,” he said.
He then said Amber needed to suck it up – both in terms of her role in the present as a parent, and in owning her actions of the past.
“I did not make her snort a pill. I did not make her take a pill. I did not make her do drugs. I did not make her go to prison,” he told Kristina.
“I’m simply saying, ‘You broke up with Matt, got another boyfriend, before you even seen your kid.’ That’s my problem right there.”
“Put your damn kid first.”
Amber’s relationship with Andrew Glennon did move very fast. In fact, they’re already expecting a baby of their own, as we know.
Will that mean even more tension between Amber and Gary regarding Leah as her resources are stretched thinner than ever?
Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, proving that the Teen Mom family is indeed a family, Maci Bookout flew out to Arizona to visit Catelynn Lowell in rehab.
Cate opened up to Maci about why she decided to enter treatment – because she was so depressed following her miscarriage.
“I just want to be able to have a baby and be OK,” Lowell said, after which point Maci opened up about going through something similar.
Bookout said, “I didn’t tell Taylor for probably two months. I think I was just afraid – like, what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.”
Maci then added, “Then I realized I couldn’t deal with it by myself. And I know that he would want to be there for me.”
Like any family, they needed each other, and Cate and Maci both found comfort knowing they were not going it alone.
Tyler also felt a sense of comfort.
His father was still in rehab, too, after all, and he was playing the role of supportive spouse as well as parent to their daughter.
No one ever said it was easy.
