As previously reported, LeBron James is headed to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The world’s best basketball player has signed a four-year, $ 154 million contract with the Purple and Gold, leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in the process.
Naturally, this decision has raised a number of questions.
To wit:
Will the Lakers be able to also trade for unhappy San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard?
Will DeMarcus Cousins sign a free agent deal with the Lakers?
Does LeBron really want to deal with Lavar Ball?
Can the Lakers actually challenge the Golden State Warriors for the championship during LeBron’s tenure this?
Just how awful with the Cavs be next year?
And, of course, how will this major sports move affect Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian?!?
Thompson, of course, has played his entire professional basketball career as a teammate of LeBron’s.
The two are said to be very close, with James even pressuring the Cavs in 2015 to give Thompson a five-year, $ 82 million deal, despite his one-dimensional nature on the court.
However, Thompson’s romance with Khloe was also said to annoy LeBron, who feared that the Kardashian curse was working its black magic against the team at various points this past season.
Just a few weeks ago, the Cavs were swept in the Finals by the Warriors, shortly after which both LeBron and Tristan took flights to Los Angeles.
The former will be employed there by the Lakers for the foreseeable future, while the latter touched down in order to spend time with Khloe and his daughter, True.
But might Thompson now try to finagle his way to the Lakers as well?
Tristan has been trying very hard of late to prove that he’s a good father and decent person.
He has shared photos of his kids on Instagram, along with a video of him being all cute and cuddly with his daughter.
Sources have said that Khloe is now back in her home state full-time, and she’s made it clear that she’s gonna try and make it work between herself and her unfaithful baby daddy.
In response to a Twitter user last month who said she was disappointed in the example Khloe was setting by staying with Thompson, the reality star clapped back:
“You have no knowledge of what goes on in our household or the enormous rebuilding this takes to even coexist. I’m proud of my strength.”
The thing is, if Thompson remains on the Cavs, it will be nearly impossible for him to truly co-parent with his scorned girlfriend. The guy will be living in Cleveland for like half the year.
This brings us back to LeBron’s decision to join the Lakers in free agency.
He and Khloe have a relationship, or so we’ve heard.
They’ve grown somewhat close over the past couple years as a result of Kardashian attending so many Cavs games.
Insiders have hinted that Khloe has been in LeBron’s ear about asking Lakers management to trade for Thompson.
Los Angeles can’t really fit Thompson under its salary cap and still pursue Leonard or free agents next summer such as Jimmy Butler and Klay Thompson.
He’s not really the type of player who would benefit the Lakers, either, right now.
But we all know the sort of power and influence that Khloe and her family can wield, don’t we?
Would it surprise anyone at all if Kris Jenner hasn’t been the phone all night, speaking to James, his team and higher-ups on the Lakers?
She probably has Magic Johnson as a Favorite on her cell phone.
The Cavs are looking to rebuild and would welcome young assets such as Kyle Kuzma and/or, for certain, Lonzo Ball in exchange for Thompson.
This would give LeBron a trusted veteran to have on his squad while he goes for title number-four, and it would give little True a father at home far more often than if Tristan remained in Cleveland.
It would also makes the Kardashians happy, which would make LeBron’s time in Los Angeles far more enjoyable.
The only person who would NOT like such a trade would be Thompson because it would make it far more difficult to cheat on Khloe when he’s residing in her city.
So that unhappiness should settle it, right?
