Kailyn Lowry Rules at Halloween, Coparenting!

Recently, Kailyn Lowry treated Lux to his first Disneyland trip. As a mom, she makes sure that her sons experience the joys that life and childhood have to offer.

Over the weekend, she and her sons enjoyed an early Halloween celebration. And yes, of course there are pictures.

On top of showing that she knows how to do Halloween right, Kailyn Lowry also made it very clear that she’s totally nailing this whole coparenting thing.

First of all, look at these three precious boys and their mom.

Kailyn is positively glowing with maternal joy.

Remember — we all love Halloween as adults, either because we like the parties or because we like the movie marathons or because we like yard decorations or we like this time of year or it’s Gay Christmas or we just love any excuse to dress up and drink.

But children? Halloween is a truly magical, wonderful night as children.

It’s an adventure.

You get to dress up and go to people’s houses and get free candy.

As adults, we can all just buy candy. Kids don’t have that luxury.

For them, especially at the ages of Isaac and Lincoln, Halloween is a miracle.

But Kailyn’s sons weren’t the only kids invited to the pre-Halloween festivities.

Here, we see Isaac and Lincoln posing with Vivi.

Who is Vivi, you might ask?

Jo Rivera and his fiancee, Vee Torres, were hanging out with Kailyn because Isaac is Jo’s son, too.

Vivi is that couple’s young daughter.

Coparenting is not always easy, but unless there are very good reasons to do otherwise, kids might be better off spending a holiday with both parents (if they’re getting along amicably) than being juggled back and forth between alternating holidays.

And yes, Javi Marroquin was also there — which is no surprise.

Kailyn and Briana DeJesus are feuding over Javi, if reports are to be believed, so we’d say that Kailyn cares about him quite a bit.

Let’s not politicize Isaac and Lincoln’s meeting with this police mascot, folks.

It’s not a political statement. Also, children need to know how to interact with and, usually, to trust police.

(You can make all of the furry jokes that you like, though)

Sadly, Lincoln and Isaac might have more police contact than any child should need to if Chris Lopez, Lux’s father, doesn’t change his ways.

We’ve all learned the scary reason Kailyn keeps Chris Lopez away, and it’s about so much more than unsigned paternity papers.

Reportedly, Chris Lopez has been physically abusive towards Kailyn, even going so far as hitting her while she was holding their baby.

So Chris Lopez is conspicuously absent from this photo — with good reason.

A shame that things were too awkward and Javi Marroquin couldn’t bring his alleged girlfriend Briana DeJesus.

(Kidding! But can you imagine?)

No, but seriously.

Not all families look like a creepy 1950s fantasy with a man and a woman and 2.5 kids.

It’s fine if they do, but a lot of families are a lot more complicated. What matters is that you find a healthy and safe way to make it work, and that you always put the kids first.

And that’s what Kailyn Lowry is clearly doing with two of her baby daddies.

Happy pre-Halloween, everybody.

Ben Affleck on Co-Parenting With Jennifer Garner: We Try!

It’s been 18 months since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner separated following a decade of marriage.

At first it seemed to be the typical Hollywood separation – rumors of infidelity and excessive boozing, conflicting reports from both sides, etc.

But then, something happened that no one could have predicted…

Weeks passed by, then months, and still neither party filed for divorce.

So here we are, a year and a half later, still talking about Ben and Jen’s marriage, which appears to have been brought back from the dead.

Of course, when discussing their relationship publicly, neither Affleck nor Garner makes any promises about the future, or even confirms that they’re still living together.

It’s a tough tightrope to walk, especially when one has an endless slate of projects to promote, as Affleck seemingly always does.

These days, Ben is plugging The Accountant, which appears to be his answer to the question, “Hey, what if the Jason Bourne movies had the world’s most boring title?”

At a recent premiere event, Lauren Zima of Entertainment Tonight asked Ben about the task of co-parenting with his estranged wife.

Like a master of media manipulation, Affleck gamely answered the question without giving away any new information about his marital status:

“We do our best,” the actor said. “We try our best.”

He then seamlessly transitioned into self-deprecating goofy-dad mode:

“My areas of expertise with the kids [are] spotty at best,” Affleck said.

“Not homework. I only play an accountant in the movie. In real life, I’m badly wanting.”

This is a master class, folks.

Once Ben starts ragging on himself for sucking at long division, Zima would look like an a-hole if she steered the conversation back to his marriage.

It’s the sort of media savvy that only comes from a couple decades in the spotlight.

Affleck doubled down on his approach when asked what items he has to have in his trailer during shooting.

“[It’s] mostly stuff from my kids,” he said.

“It’s the only personal stuff I have — the drawings and art. It’s a good place to hang up the latest artwork to come out of school.”

He knows it’s night-impossible to steer an interview from cutesy kid stuff to rumors that he’s moving back in with Garner.

The guy knows that he’s doing.

They don’t let just anyone be the Batman, ya know?

Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley: Can They Make Co-Parenting Work?

Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley may not be back together, but that doesn’t mean they can’t raise their daughter, Leah as a team.

Me and Gary sat on his front porch and talked about everything,” Portwood told People Magazine ahead of Teen Mom OG‘s season premiere tonight.

“[We were] like ‘Okay, what should we do?’ And we made the decision that he would take primary custody, simply because we didn’t want to take her out of her school.

“She’s going to a really great school and she’s in an advanced class and I don’t want to take that away from her.”

Last week, MTV shared a preview of Portwood discussing custody with her friend, Krystal.

Portwood revealed that the animosity between her and Gary was affecting the 7-year-old, so she decided to put whatever issues she has with her ex aside for the well-being of their daughter.

“What we did was we did joint custody where it’s open communication,” Portwood told People.

“It actually says in the contract that it’s open communication to see BooBoo during the school year.

“I can call everyday and go pick her up from school if I wanted to. I have her on my weekends and during the summer we had her back and forth 50/50. It was great. I would have her for like a week straight and we’re doing really good with this.”

What’s even better is that Portwood and Shirley don’t have to go back to court to discuss custody.  It’s not, however, smooth sailing for this famously volatile duo.

I mean, come on. It’s as smooth as it can be,” Portwood said with a laugh, referring to how she and Shirley communicate.

“Me and Gary don’t exactly have the greatest way of communicating, but we’re doing better. It’s going the way that everybody would think it’s going.”

Portwood gushed about Leah, and what a good big sister she is to Shirley’s daughter Emily with his wife, Kristina Anderson.

“She’s so smart,” Portwood said of Leah.

“I know every mom says that about their kids, but she’s just excelling. She’s so beautiful; I don’t know where she gets it. It’s crazy.

“She’s the greatest big sister to Emily. She loves that little girl. It’s the cutest thing. And Emily kind of looks like her when she was little. She’s the cutest little thing.”

Teen Mom OG returns to MTV tonight at 10 p.m. ET
