Gabby Douglas Bullied: Mom Comes To Olympian"s Defense

Gabby Douglas went from America’s Sweetheart to persona non grata after some were offended she didn’t put her hand over her heart while the National Anthem played at gymnastics medal ceremony.

The Olympian’s mom Natalie Hawkins, is sick of the bullying, and spoke to Reuters about the hell Douglas, 20, is being put through.

She’s had to deal with people criticizing her hair, or people accusing her of bleaching her skin. They said she had breast enhancements, they said she wasn’t smiling enough, she’s unpatriotic.

“Then it went to not supporting your team mates. Now you’re ‘Crabby Gabby’,” Hawkins said.

Last week during the medal ceremony for the all-around finals, Douglas stood to attention wile the National Anthem played rather than put her hand over her heart.

“I don’t think respecting your country or your flag boils down to whether you put your hand over your heart or not,” Hawkins said. “When the Star Spangled Banner is played, most military members either salute or stand to attention.”

“We grew up in the military community. My mom spent almost 30 years in the military, my dad’s a two-time Vietnam vet. Because of that it was so insulting that they would accuse my daughter of being unpatriotic when we are so tied to the military family.”

Hawkins can’t understand why Douglas is being dragged through the mud.

“You name it and she got trampled. What did she ever do to anyone?”

The stress from being constantly criticized is getting to Douglas, according to her mother.

“What was going through her head was ‘I’m being attacked for everything I do so I might as well not do anything. Because no matter what I do, I am being attacked."”

The bullying has gotten to Douglas, who hasn’t done as well during these Olympic games aside from winning gold with her teammates.

Selena Gomez: WHO Just Came to Her Defense?!?

Remember Samuel Krost?

We didn’t think you would.

But here’s the important thing:

Samuel Krost absolutely remembers Selena Gomez.

Back in November, Krost – a seemingly random New York University graduate who somehow knows Gigi Hadid pretty well – was spotted out for the first time with Gomez.

Gomez and Krost grabbed dinner with some friends following the singer’s appearance at Glamour’s 25th annual Women of the Year Awards.

They were even seen holding hands during their evening out.

And then Gomez and Krost were seen holding hands AGAIN a couple months later outside the SLS Hotel.

These sightings and this apparent relationship led many people to wonder: Who the heck is Samuel Krost?

We tried to answer that question at the time with the following photo gallery:

The romance must have fizzled out pretty quickly because no one has heard about Krost in months… until this week.

For whatever reason, Krost jumped on Instagram yesterday and wrote a very sweet note to Selena.

Actually, the note was to Selena’s critics, and it seemed to confirm that he and the artist once had something special.

In the since-deleted message, Krost wrote:

“To all the haters: Selena is a real girl with a real heart and real feelings. All you superficial [sic] who are just unhappy with your love lives, understand that love is real.

“Although we have ventured on separate paths, at least I know that love exists. I love you, Sel.”

krost note

Wow. Dude just dropped the L Bomb multiple times.

We had no idea he and Gomez were ever that serious.

Krost also seemed to tag Gomez in the comments of the post and also @’d her, seemingly in an attempt to make sure she saw the posting.

It’s unclear why he would then take it down.

But one astute social media user screen-captured the tagging, asking a simple question at the bottom of her post:

what the f-ck he was trying to do lmao?

WTH, Krost?

Who knows?

But it was pretty nice of him, wasn’t it?

Gomez hasn’t exactly been under much fire of late, so we don’t know why Krost might have thought she needed his kind words.

Whatever, though. Who doesn’t like hearing kinds words about them?!?

Samuel Krost is the one male sitting here with Selena and her friends. He shared this photo on Instagram in February of 2016.

In a new interview with Australia Vogue, Gomez admits that she’s difficult to be with because she’s so famous.

She openly asks who would who date her… and now we appear to have an answer!

Samuel Krost would date you, Selena! He already has! He seems to want to do so again!

We like him. Go him another shot.

Buddy Ryan Dies; NFL Coach, Defense Guru, Father of Rex & Rob Ryan Was 82

Former NFL head coach and influential defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan passed away Tuesday, according to his agent and family.

Buddy, the father of the Bills’ Rex and Rob Ryan, was 82.

Ryan, who coached in the NFL for 26 seasons, built some of football’s top defenses with their relentlessness, physical, chaotic approach.

“I wonder who just lost their defensive-coordinating job in heaven,” former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael told ESPN.

Buddy’s death was confirmed by the Buffalo Bills, who employ his twin sons Rex (the team’s head coach, pictured above) and Rob Ryan.

James David “Buddy” Ryan was a Korean War vet who went to Oklahoma State, then got a Master’s from Middle Tennessee State.

In 1968, in his first pro job, Ryan was the linebackers coach for the Joe Namath-led Jets, which scored a major upset Super Bowl win.

“That’s something my dad was very proud of,” said Rex Ryan. “When [former Jets coach Weeb] Ewbank hired him, he had to make a difference.”

“If he felt he wasn’t making a difference,” Rex recalled his father telling him, “then his career as a professional coach would be short.”

Ryan’s first job as a defensive coordinator came in 1976 with the Minnesota Vikings under Bud Grant, like Ewbank a Hall of Fame coach.

It was with the rival Bears, however, where he concocted the “46 defense” that overwhelmed the NFL with its aggressiveness and unpredictability.

Ryan’s defenders, featuring Hall of Famers like linebacker Mike Singletary and ends Dan Hampton and Richard Dent, ran it to perfection.

“Some say the 46 is just an eight-man front,” said Ryan.

“That’s like saying Marilyn Monroe is just a girl.”

Ryan’s defense propelled the Bears to a 15-1 season and Super Bowl title, and they are often considered the best team in NFL history.

The Bears routed New England in the championship game, 46-10, after which Ryan and head coach Mike Ditka were both carried off the field.

After Chicago, he went on to the Philadelphia Eagles as head coach for five seasons, from 1986-90, making the playoffs three times.

Following that, he returned to defensive coordinator duties with the Houston Oilers, then coached the Arizona Cardinals in the mid-90s.
