Lily-Rose Depp and Timothee Chalamet: Dating!

While Johnny Depp continues his slow collapse into a morass of self-parody, man jewelry, and strategically ripped denim, his daughter is still attempting to build a life and career for herself far removed from her father’s increasingly long shadow.

And she’s well on her way with her first A-list romance:

According to E! News, Lily-Rose Depp confirmed that she’s dating actor Timothee Chalamet this week by laying on the PDA during a date night in NYC.

Okay, so Chalamet might not be a household name just yet, but the young actor has already built up one hell of a resume.

With an Oscar-nominated performance in Call Me By Your Name and a memorable turn in Lady Bird to his credit, it’s only a matter of time before someone casts him as a Jedi or a superhero.

This kid is so talented we’re willing to overlook the obnoxious spelling of his first name, which is the highest praise we can think of.

Neither party has spoken publicly about the relationship so far, but onlookers say their interactions Monday night left little doubt that they’re an item.

“They were very sweet together,” an eyewitness shared with E! News.

“They wrapped their arms around each other in line and linked arms the entire time,” the source added.

“They seemed very happy to be together.”

An insider tells E! that the couple dined on peasant fare, enjoying “fried chicken at a fine dining restaurant.” 

“When they left, they stopped on a street corner and shared another passionate kiss,” the onlooker added. 

“They huddled together in the rain but loved being outside and were laughing and smiling the entire time. They seemed very into each other.”

The enthusiasm about this stylish new couple is reflected in the comments Gen Z-ers are posting on social media:

“THEYRE SO CUTEEEE,” one fan commented on Instagram.

“Omg omg omg omg yassss,” wrote another user.

We hate to rain on anyone’s parade, but Timothee is in for a hard slog if these two get serious.

That’s not a knock on Lily, but rather a hard fact about her increasingly unhinged dad.

Lily is obviously set for life, but Timothee is just starting out as an actor, and being forced to apologize for every dumb thing Johnny Depp says is a burden no one should have to bear.

But that’s a concern for way down the line.

We’re just throwing out there because we’re old and crotchety and we need to pass the time until the prune juice kicks in.

Lily-Rose Depp’s career is taking off in a big way, and the 17-year-old actress and model seems to be on the verge of becoming a household name in her own right.

Sure, like any teen she’s made some mistakes, but fortunately, no one watches Kevin Smith movies, so she should have no trouble bouncing back from the atrocity that was Yoga Hosers.

Of course, with success in Hollywood comes the many pitfalls of fame, including tabloids and social media vultures scrutinizinf your appearance at every turn.

As you can see, Lily-Rose is a bit on the thin side, even by model standards.

Radar Online recently published photos of the teen out for lunch in West Hollywood and described her as “scary skinny” and “dangerously thin.”

We wouldn’t go quite that far.

Yes, Lily is a model, and ladies in her profession tend to go light on the calorie intake, but she’s also 17.

That’s significant because teenagers tend to have rapid-fire metabolisms.

Remember subsisting on a diet of fried chicken and malt liquor your freshman year of high school and never gaining a pound.

Okay, maybe that was just us, but the point is, your metabolism slows down with age, so it’s really not that weird for someone Lily-Rose’s age to be a few pounds under what might be considered a healthy weight.

She may have slimmed down a bit lately, but there could be any number of reasons for that, and we doubt it’ll negatively impact her health.

As for her career, Ms. Depp is blowing up lately.

In fact, her dad predicts she’ll be an A-lister in no time.

Of course, he also says Lily-Rose’s sudden success worries him.

We guess that’s not surprising.

Any dad would be concerned in Johnny’s position, and Depp knows more than anyone how cruel Hollywood can be to newcomers and grizzled vets alike.

But we’re sure he’s doing his best to keep an eye on her.

In fact, it looks like he’s employing a wide variety of disguises, following Lily-Rose to her premiere in hats, weird facial hair, and more scarves than any sane man would wear in Southern California.

Johnny Depp on Lily-Rose Depp: She"s Gonna Be HUGE!

The last time Johnny Depp spoke about Lily-Rose Depp in an interview, he sounded more than a little nervous about the 16-year-old’s sudden fame.

He even went so far as to describe Lily-Rose’s success as “disturbing.”

It’s not that Johnny wants to stand in the way of his daughter’s dreams, of course. But having been in the industry for as long as he has (and having seen what Hollywood can do to young women), it’s only natural that he’s a bit concerned.

Of course, Lily has Captain Jack himself to help her navigate the rough waters of fame, and that gives her a major advantage over other up-and-coming starlets.

Perhaps that’s why Johnny seems so much more chill about Lily-Rose’s future in his new The Daily Mail:

“What’s happening to Lily-Rose is something that I didn’t expect to happen this early, that’s for sure! It’s such a funny thing when you see your daughter transitioning from your baby, your little girl, to suddenly being a young woman. If you’re not really looking for it, you can miss it, and Lily-Rose is on that road already and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. 

“She’s been snatched up by Karl Lagerfeld – which is a coincidence, as he spotted her mother when she was the same age, too – and when I see her with make-up and all that stuff, it’s really disturbing, because she’s a very beautiful girl, and it’s all happening so fast. 

“Her becoming an actress was never my dream or my desire for her, but that’s what she enjoys doing, and it’s her passion and it’s where she ended up. And she’s got the goods – she can certainly deliver. 

Okay, so he still sounds pretty taken aback, but ultimately, the 52-year-old actor seems more proud than anything.

In the same interview, Johnny was asked about Lily-Rose coming out as bisexual, and his response was every bit as chill as you would expect:

“She’s got thousands of followers on social media, and they were all taken completely by surprise,” Johnny said.

“But not me. I already knew because she tells me everything – she’s not afraid to say anything to me. We’re super-tight and I’m very proud of our relationship.”

She might be very young to be receiving so much attention, but something tells us Lily-Rose will be just fine.

That’s an awful lot for any teenager to take on, but fortunately, Lily-Rose has her dad to guide her through the perilous path of sudden stardom.

“She knows that I’m always there for her,” Depp told the magazine.

Yes, Johnny may not always be the best at taking care of himself, but the man is insanely protective of his kids.
