Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 29 Recap: JoJo No-Shows!
Did the minis make a comeback on Lifetime? And did Abby Lee Miller actually use her celebrity platform to promote an important cause?
On Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 29, we got an answer to both of those questions, while a key member of the elite team no-showed …
If you watch Dance Moms online, you’ll see that on a serious note early this week, Kira revealed some devastating news to the other moms.
She and Kalani had to go home to Arizona after a young teen dancer from their hometown committed suicide. The moms are devastated.
As a result, Miller decides to choreograph a routine that calls attention to such an important epidemic, and for that, she receives due credit.
Meanwhile, Abby reveals the positions of the Elite Team’s pyramid, with Jojo and Kendall at the bottom, and Kalani and Nia in the middle.
Brynn earns the top spot for doing the best in the group piece last week, but the competition promises to be even stiffer this time around …
Abby announces she will be pitting two duets against each other, beginning with “War and Peace,” as performed by Brynn and Nia.
Jojo and Kendall will be dancing in the second duet, a ballet number called “Push and Pull,” and a surprise as they never do ballet.
“I really have to nail it,” Jojo says, knowing the pressure is on her, and later, we learn that it may be just too much pressure to handle.
The Junior Elites, meanwhile, will dance in one of the ALDC’s darkest pieces ever, called “Suicide Hotline,” in honor of the late young dancer.
Holly and the rest of the moms worry if Abby will give this number her all, since she’s a self-centered train wreck and largely MIA lately.
It’s a fair point, but Abby promises to be completely focused on this, because just maybe “we are going to save a kid’s life,” she hopes.
Again, due credit.
As the rehearsals begin, Abby works with Jojo and Kendall, and quickly it becomes apparent that the former is having some problems.
“I can just tell by the look on Jojo’s face that Jojo doesn’t really like this dance,” Kendall explains, and Jessalyn is none too happy either.
She knows it will make Jojo look bad, and worries that it could ruin her “brand.” Yes, seriously. Soon, Jojo cracks and refuses to do it.
Abby is furious, but Jessalynn is steadfast in support of Jojo; Ashley fears that this dance mom is the one standing in the way, not Miller.
The next morning, Kendall continues to rehearse, but neither Jessalynn nor Jojo show up, much to the chagrin of the ALDC shot-caller.
Sari volunteers Areana to replace Jojo. Abby’s response?
“Well, thank you. I appreciate you shoving your daughter down my throat every five seconds,” she says, before selecting Kalani instead.
Harsh.
As Kalani and Kendall continue to work on the ballet number, the other moms continue to trash Jessalynn as a hypocrite for not showing.
After all, as they bitterly note, she is often first one to call out any other team member who doesn’t show complete loyalty to the ALDC.
Truth?
At the same time, Ashlee and Holly are worried that their daughters’ duet has been relegated to an afterthought amidst all of this drama.
Has it?
