Former American Idol Star Busted for Heroin Distribution
Antonella Barba was maybe the most controversial contestant in American Idol history.
And not much has changed for the former singer many years later.
According to TMZ and other outlets, the Season 6 near- finalist was arrested on Thursday morning and charged with a felony.
She is being held in jail without bond because she allegedly tried to sell over 100 grams of heroin.
Yes, heroin.
Not many other details are available at the moment, but Barba is looking at significant jail time if this really is the crime she is accused of committing and if she is found guilty.

Despite finishing just outside the Top 12 on Season 6, Barba made numerous headlines in 2007 for a very different kind of scandal in which she found herself.
She gained notoriety for posing in a wet t-shirt in the fountain of the World War II Memorial in D.C. — and also for allegedly having photos taken of her while she gave someone oral sex.
Barba continued to be voted on to subsequent rounds during her run on Idol, stirring up quite a debate over whether she was earning the favor of viewers for her singing talent…
… or for these more lewd and explicit exploits.
We’ve blurred out the most private part of this photo, but here’s one of the pictures that got Barba in trouble back in the day:
She was also arrested for shoplifting in New York City in 2011.
She was charged with two misdemeanors at the time.
Still, the following year, Barba appeared on an episode of Fear Factor.
She has also acted in a number of short films since… had a small role in 2017’s All About the Money… and, earlier this year, she appeared on a “Where Are They Now?” segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
No one from Barba’s camp has commented on her arrest just yet.
In related news…
Fellow American Idol alum Haley Reinhart, – who also appeared on this same Jimmy Kimmel Live! segment- was arrested on one count of battery after getting into a bar fight in Chicago last year.
Reinhart was found guilty in February.
However, the judge agreed to strike the conviction from her record if she has no run-ins with the law in the next two years.
We’ll update this story with more news as it breaks.
As far as we know, Barba remains behind bars right now, pending an upcoming hearing.

American Idol Recap: Who Won Season 16?
ABC’s rebooted American Idol crowned its first winner on Monday night in an episode that was so bloated with guest appearances, and other pointless things to keep viewers on tenterhooks before getting to the good stuff.
Seriously, there was so much filler that it could have passed as a whole nother show entirely.
The two-hour live finale kicked off with Lionel Richie performing “All Night Long,” and it was still as impressive as it was in 1983.
The top 10 contestants joined him on the stage to throw their vocals into the ring for it, but they were overpowered at every turn by Lionel’s excellent vocals.
When we finally got to the first round of results, it was more than halfway through the show, which is problematic. Ryan Seacrest confirmed which of the three were going home.
As expected, Gabby Barrett secured the lowest amount of votes overnight and left the show in third place.
Something very unexpected happened after that. Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe aka the final two confirmed that they were, indeed, dating.
It was a great twist in an otherwise polarizing finale, but things took a cheesy turn when they performed a duet of “Over the Rainbow” together.
There’s saying you’re in a relationship and then there’s throwing it at the audience like you’re selling it.
In the end, Maddie Poppe was crowned the winner. If you’ve been keeping up to speed with the show this season, you will likely be well aware that Maddie has been the most consistent throughout the whole process.
Her performances have been solid, and she has made every single moment of the process count. Out of all the top 10, she is the most marketable star.
The real test will be whether a lesser-viewed Idol can still propel contestants to stardom. Despite returning after a hiatus, the ratings have not been great.
But ABC has faith, and the show will be back for Season 17 in 2019.
The rest of the finale was filled with performances from celebrities such as Bebe Rexha, Nick Jonas, and even judges Luke Bryan and Katy Perry.
With the revived season officially in the can, it’s time to look ahead to the next season. The good news is that the judging panel will remain intact next season.
Despite some issues with the format, the judges have been very constructive.
Katy has been a real treat as a judge. Instead of trying to apologize to Taylor Swift live on air at every opportunity, she’s been helping these contestants realize their true potential.

Katy Perry: Did She Sexually Harass an American Idol Singer?
Katy Perry kissed a boy on the American Idol premiere this past Sunday night…
… and he didn’t like it.
On the season premiere of the rebooted American Idol, the popular singer and this season’s lead judge greeted 19-year-old contestant Benjamin Glaze with a playful peck on the lips.
She did so after Glaze told the panel that he had never kissed anyone before.
The episode was filmed in October, but did not air until this week — and the quick spit swap seemed like a harmless exchange of bodily fluids at the time.
But then Glaze spoke to The New York Times a couple days later and…
“I was a tad bit uncomfortable,” he said. “I wanted to save it for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special.”
Benjamin works as a a cashier in Enid, Oklahoma and explained that he comes from a conservative background.
He has been keeping his lips to himself on purpose and then Perry came along and simply laid one on him.
Added the aspiring artist in this interview:
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no.
“I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
Even prior to these quotes going viral, Perry had been criticized harshly by insiders who basically alleged she has no clue what to do or say as a judge.
The unwanted kiss took place after Glaze entered the audition room and judge Luke Bryan mentioned Perry’s 2008 track “I Kissed a Girl,” asking:
“Have you kissed a girl and liked it?”
Pretty weird thing to bring up, right?
Producers clearly were aware of Glaze’s background and told Bryan to touch on it.
Glaze said he had never gotten to first base and added:
“I have never been in a relationship and I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship.”
Perry proceeded to call the teen over and he gave Perry a peck on the cheek… prior to her pulling him close for one on the lips.
The singer, it should be mentioned, did NOT earn a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
But it should also now be mentioned that Glaze penned a lengthy message on Instagram to clarify his stance on this surprising scandal.
“I am not complaining about the kiss from Katy Perry at all,” he wrote Wednesday afternoon, adding in detail:
“The way certain articles are worded is not done by me and my true intentions are not accurately represented in every article you read about the situation.
“I am not complaining about the kiss I am very honored and thankful to be apart of American Idol the main purpose for the show is to find stars and new music artist.
“I do wish i would have performed better in the moment.
“I should have picked another song to sing and calmed myself down regardless of the kiss i should have been able to perform under pressure.”
The singer continued:
I do not think i was sexually harassed by Katy Perry and i am thankful for the judges comments and critiques.
I was uncomfortable in a sense of how i have never been kissed before and was not expecting it.
