Megyn Kelly Defends Blackface, Asks: What is Racist?

Oh, crazy, desperate, race-baiting, ignorant Megyn Kelly…

… how we’ve missed you!

The formerly controversial Fox News host moved over to NBC at the outset of 2018, determined to shed her polarizing reputation and settle in as a harmless and happy morning personality.

She wanted to be the next Kelly Ripa, basically.

The thing is, though, there’s already a Kelly Ripa on television — and Kelly quickly learned that you can’t go from ranting and raving about the plight of the rich white person on Fox to casually discussing makeup and paleo recipes on NBC.

Viewers do not forget.

So, with her Today Show ratings dwindling, Kelly has returned to what she does best:

Making really dumb, close-minded and misguided statements.

She sided with Brett Kavanaugh a few weeks ago, for example, arguing that the Supreme Court justice nominee was innocent of sexual misconduct simply because he said so.

And now Kelly is here to wonder why people dressing in blackface is such a big deal.

“I have to give you a fair warning, I’m a little fired up about Halloween costumes this morning,” Kelly said on Tuesday to open a segment.

“I mean, truly, political correctness has gone amok. There are strict rules on what you may and may not wear by someone who thinks is the boss of you.”

“Isn’t the whole purpose of Halloween to dress up and pretend you’re someone other than yourself?” she continued. “I feel like it’s so absurd. Who comes up with these rules?”

What rules, you may be wondering?

Receiving flak for painting one’s face black for a costume, Kelly used as a major example.

“What is racist?” she actually asked.

“You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface for Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was OK just as long as you were dressing as a character.”

For the record:

Blackface was a form of theatrical make-up used predominantly by non-black performers to represent a caricature of a black person in the 19th century.

It contributed to the spread of racial stereotypes such as the “happy-go-lucky darky on the plantation” or the “dandified coon” and it was very offensive to African-Americans.

It was stereotypical and insulting and a reminder to African-Americans that they were viewed as a lesser other by those who wore it.

This really isn’t complicated.

But Kelly brought up Real Housewives of New York cast member Luann de Lesseps to try and prove her point.

Luann faced backlash in April when she attended a Halloween party dressed as legendary singer Diana Ross.

de Lesseps said soon afterward that she understood the criticism and apologized for it. But Kelly doesn’t comprehend why she had to do so.

“People said that that was racist! And I don’t know, like, I thought, like, ‘Who doesn’t love Diana Ross?"” said Kelly, adding:

“She wants to look like Diana Ross for one day. I don’t know how that got racist on Halloween. It’s not like she’s walking around [wearing blackface] in general.”

Patton Oswalt spoke for most of the free world when he responded to Kelly’s viewpoint as follows:

oswalt tweet

It seems hard to believe that Kelly herself believes this one.

But we’re pretty sure we know what’s going on here:

She’s auditioning for a return to Fox.

Someone is clearly yearning to be employed by a company that will appreciate her racist views.

Teresa Giudice Asks Fans to Pray for Her as Joe Faces Deportation

The Giudice family is rallying against Joe’s impending deportation and asking their fans for support.

Teresa is still making time to do Real Housewives events — it’s part of her job, after all.

At a recent gathering, she asked fans in the audience to keep her family in their prayers as they fight to stay together.

Teresa Giudice took part in the East Coast Vs. West Coast Real Housewives Brunch at the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Us Weekly reports that, while she was there, she used her platform to ask for emotional support from the audience.

“Teresa said to please pray for me and my family,” an eyewitness reveals.

The eyewitness adds: “She really hopes Joe is out of jail to see [their daughter] Gia graduate.”

Additionally, “She said she cannot wait to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Not everything that Teresa discussed was as upsetting as a family being torn apart.

According to the eyewitness, Teresa “was in really good spirits and made the crowd laugh several times.”

“She explained that Dina [Manzo] and Jacqueline [Laurita] were asked to recommend beautiful women for the show,” the eyewitness reports.

“Dina recommended Teresa,” she shared.

The eyewitness then reveals: “Teresa said she does not know why Caroline [Manzo] did the show.”

Shade.

“And,” the eyewitness shares. “There was a joke about if Teresa did the show, her husband would go to jail.”

That prophecy has been fulfilled, then.

As far as doing the show, “she said she f–ken shouldn’t have.”

“She said it is Jacqueline’s fault for her doing the show,” the eyewitness adds.

“Teresa said she suckered Joe into doing the show,” the report says.

The eyewitness continues: “and now that he is away, he has watched himself and says he was an a–hole.”

Apparently Gia and her mom have been looking at universities, but Teresa is strongly encouraging for her to stay close to home.

“Teresa said she is sick of driving far,” the eyewitness reports. “So is pushing for her to go to Rutgers.”

“She said she drives too much,” the report continues. “From dropping off and picking up kids and going to see Joe, she is sick of driving.”

Teresa also dished on her 17-year-old daughter’s academic performance, which is … a hell of a thing to do.

“She said Gia struggles in school,” the eyewitness says. “And has tutors and she is tired of paying for them.”

The eyewitness reports: “She said she gets good grades, but she is not a genius like her middle daughter, who gets straight As and is the smart one.”

Teresa addressed other topics, beyond comparing the relative academic performances and intelligences of her children.

Specifically, Teresa had some not-so-kind words regarding her feud with Caroline, Jacqueline, and Kathy Wakile.

“She said she is sad she let them into her house, to be betrayed by them,” the eyewtiness reports.

“Fame and money will do that to family,” the eyewitness characterizes of Teresa’s words.

“She said,” the report concludes. “You never go against family.”

Teresa and Joe have four daughters. Gia is 17, Gabriella is 14, Milania is 12, and Audriana is 9.

For them to lose their father to deportation — a horror that is sadly all too common these days — is nothing short of tragic.

While Teresa and Joe aren’t perfect (fraud convictions and table-flipping are only the tip of that iceberg), they love their children.

(Even if Teresa openly gossips about Gia and also doesn’t seem to understand that academic performance isn’t synonymous with intelligence)

Seeing this family put on a brave face while getting torn apart is heartbreaking.

Tim Allen Defends Roseanne Barr, Asks Very Dumb Question About Comedian"s Firing

Tim Allen just doesn’t understand.

Speaking Thursday at the Television Critics Association’s press tour, the veteran actor basically asked those in attendance was simple question:

Can’t someone just be overtly racist in public without suffering consequences in this country?!?

Allen spoke on the topic of Roseanne Barr’s firing by ABC with journalists at the aforementioned gathering, with his remarks generating both headlines and many raised eyebrows.

(Barr, of course, was let go by the network and had her revived sitcom canceled after she referred to an African-American political advisor as an “ape.”)

“I go away back with Rosie and that’s not the Rosie I know,” Allen said, expounding about his friend and her situation as follows:

“She was the most diverse and tolerant woman I’ve ever known for a long time. Whatever got in her head, isn’t the Roseanne I know.”

Allen then expressed sympathy and shock for the ways of the world, especially when it comes to supposedly funny people who dare to utter controversial statements.

“It’s a very icy time. I’m a veteran comedian for 38 years and I’ve never seen it, like Lenny Bruce said at the Purple Onion, ‘We’ve gone backwards.’ There are things you can’t say. There are things you shouldn’t say.

“Who makes up these rules? And as a stand-up comic, it’s a dangerous position to be in because I like pushing buttons. It’s unfortunate.”

Who makes up these rules?

We can answer that ridiculous inquiry, Tim.

In Roseanne’s case, ABC executies made up the so-called “rules.”

Roseanne was an employee who was fired by her employer for actions the latter deemed inappropriate and/or actions it felt no longer made her a worthwhile employee.

It’s that simple.

People get fired from their jobs everday. Roseanne is just one of those people.

Allen is one of the few outspoken Republicans in Hollywood.

In May of 2017, he said he was “stunned” by the cancelation of the sitcom on which he starred, Last Man Standing, hinting strongly that he thinks it was yanked off the air due to his Conservative views.

(It has ran for six seasons at the time and ratings had been falling for years.)

Allen also once compared life in Hollywood for a Republican to life in Nazi Germany for Jewish people.

He’s back in the news now because FOX has actually brought back Last Man Standing, hoping it finds a similarly impressive audience to the one Roseanne enjoyed before the network axed that show’s comeback.

As for Barr?

She has oscillated between being regretful for her actions and blaming others for taking them out of context.

She recently swore to Sean Hannity that she is not racist and she has received support from non-Tim Allen celebrities as well.

“Roseanne Barr is my sister in comedy and she is my universal sister and what I won’t do… is throw her away for making a mistake,” Mo’Nique told KTLA last Friday, July 27, adding at the time:

“We’ve all said and done things, baby, that we wish we could take back… but when you’re in the public eye, you can’t.

Said Barr to Fox News the day before that:

“I’ve apologized a lot. It’s been two months. I’ve apologized and explained and asked for forgiveness.”

Oh, well, if it’s been two months… nevermind then!

All automatically gets forgiven after 60 days, right?

IS SHE WORTHY OF FORGIVENESS?

Audrey Roloff Details "Empowering" Delivery Experience, Asks Fans for a Favor

Audrey Roloff gave birth on Tuesday night.

Okay, not quite.

As all Little People, Big World fans know quite well, Audrey Roloff really gave birth in mid-September.

But the TLC series on which Audrey has risen to fame took fans behind the scenes of this miraculous experience this week, documenting the labor that led to Ember Jean’s entrance into the world.

It was pretty special to watch.

Now, in a new Instagram post, Audrey has provided followers with even more details about what has to be the most memorable day of her existence.

It started with her afraid that she would be so long past her due date that it would be unsafe to have a natural delivery.

“This was the hardest and most empowering day of my life,” opened Amber as a caption to the image above, adding:

“When I went into active labor at 2:30 in the morning I quickly reached into my nightstand drawer, grabbed a sharpie, and wrote ALWAYS MORE on my hand.”

This may sound like a bunch of hooey coming from some people, but we buy it coming from Audrey.

She has never shied away from discussing her faith or from what this saying means to her, as she did again here.

“These words have propelled so much of my life, and they have become my mission – to inspire women to ALWAYS believe in the MORE that is within them.

“I knew that this day, more than any other day, I needed to be reminded that I ALWAYS had MORE strength, endurance, and hope through Christ.”

Roloff continued to get personal with her Instagram followers, writing:

“During labor, these words increased my faith and permeated my body with unexplainable peace and power.

“Every now and then during contractions I would catch a glimpse of my hand, clenched tightly to Jeremy’s, and I would see those words, blurred by sweat and tears – ALWAYS MORE.”

As any mother knows, there’s nothing that can come close to giving birth.

It’s an experience unlike any other.

And Audrey used this motto to get her through it:

“Always more strength through contractions, always more hope when I felt discouraged, always more purpose through the pain, always more perseverance to endure, always more opportunity to be courageous, always more reason to trust, and always more victory through Christ.

“I remember saying them outloud repeatedly just before I stared to push.”

And then Ember was in her arms.

Amazing. The whole thing really is pretty amazing.

“Guess what you guys….” Ember added. “The hospital room that i delivered Ember in was room 320 are you kidding me God?!? ah. Always more is based on Ephesians 3:20.

“You can’t make this stuff up!!!”

You can try to profit off it, however.

As we’ve cited in the past, Audrey transitioned against here from honesty about her faith to an attempt to sell her followers on something she makes money off.

“Because ALWAYS MORE has helped me through some of the toughest trials in my life, I created a 7 Day Always More Devotional that I hope might encourage you through whatever hard circumstances you might be facing today!” she concluded on her page, adding:

“Click the link in my bio to download it for FREE! ALWAYS believe in the MORE that is with you. #alwaysmore #emberjean.”

Now, yes, the Devotional is free.

But as we point out above, Roloff asks for your personal information in order to send it along.

And you know she’ll use this to include you on her newsletter and to make other offerings, many of which will ask for money.

Is this just an example of Audrey being an entrepreneur and it’s all good?

Is her heart in the right place and she just wants to help your religious efforts.

Or is this pretty tacky, writing a lot about God and then using her birthing experience to build up her email database?
