Grant Gustin Hits Back at Body Shamers After The Flash Costume Pic Leaks!
Fresh after the announcement that Ruby Rose will play Batwoman in the Arrowverse, a very unflattering photo of Grant Gustin in a new Flash costume leaked.
The The Flash star took to Instagram to assure concerned fans that no, that’s not the final look for the Season 5 costume.
But he also took aim at the hateful trolls who decided to body-shame him. Body-shaming is never okay.
After an unflattering photo of Grant Gustin posing in a new Flash costume was leaked, some fans were alarmed by the new costume’s look.
Worse, some trolls decided to body-shame Gustin for his narrow build.
In response to the backlash, Gustin took to Instagram, writing: “So here’s the thing about this bulls–t photo leak.”
“It’s a cool suit,” Gustin affirms about his actual costume. “There’s a terrible photo that I was unaware was being taken, much less being posted.”
“Some things need work and they will be worked on,” Gustin acknowledges. “We’ll get there.”
(So, again, this is not the final look — this is an image from a fitting)
“As far as the body shaming,” Gustin continues. “That’s what pisses me off. Not even just for my sake.”
“I’ve had 20+ years of kids and adults telling me or my parents that I was too thin,” Gustin shares.
That is awful. Unless someone is unhealthy, there is no such thing as too thin or whatever. And even if someone is unhealthily thin, that’s still nobody’s business.
“But there’s a double standard,” Gustin acknowledges. “Where it’s OK to talk s–t about a dude’s body.”
True. Though we should point out that, just weeks ago, other vicious trolls singled out his unbearably gorgeous costar, Candice Patton, and body-shamed her over an alleged weight gain.
“I do my best to stay in shape and add as much size as I can throughout these seasons,” Gustin shares.
Honestly, that’s really not necessary, and we’ll explain why in a bit.
“I’m naturally thin, and my appetite is greatly affected by stress,” Gustin explains. “Stress is something that ebbs and flows for me throughout a season.”
Some people stress-eat. Others can’t eat when they’re stressed.
Gustin explains: “Thus, gaining weight is a challenge for me.”
“I didn’t cast a slim actor as The Flash,” Gustin explains. “I went to an audition for a role I never dreamed I’d actually book.”
“But, here I am 5 seasons later,” Gustin affirms. “I’m happy with my body and who I am.”
That is great!
“And,” Gustin continues. “Other kids who are built like me and thinner than me should be able to feel the same way.”
He’s right!
Gustin adds: “Not only that, but they should be able to feel like THEY could be a superhero on TV or film or whatever it may be some day.”
“I love the suit that has been designed for me,” Gustin shares to reassure worried fans. “And I think when everyone sees it in its entirety, you will love it too.”
Remember when some snapshots of the Titans cast leaked and fans were worried, but the photos were misleading and the real looks were revealed to be much better?
It sounds like this is happening again.
“Things have been adjusted since that leaked shot was taken,” Gustin promises. “And more things will continue to be adjusted until it feels right.”
Gustin also took to his Instagram stories to say: “F–k whoever leaked that.”
Gotta be honest, I’m a little behind on my Arrowverse shows — though I still know the spoilers. (Honestly, who didn’t know who Jessica Parker Kennedy was playing?)
But this case of body-shaming is especially odd because Flash is always, always supposed to be slimmer. He should have a track team build.
Unfortunately, a lot of television shows present male bodies in only one form, whether we’re talking about Teen Wolf of Arrow. Anybody else, even if large portions of the audience would find them attractive, keeps their shirt on.
This perpetuates the idea that there’s only one acceptable way to be attractive on camera.
Well, Flash is not supposed to be a “hunk.” He’s supposed to be a slender speedster.
But even if that were not the case, that would still be no excuse to body-shame anyone. Grant Gustin is a real person with real feelings.
And so, by the way, is Candice Patton.
So not only is there zero reason to body-shame either of them, but even if their bodies didn’t “look right,” you don’t get to ruin somebody’s day because their flesh prison isn’t shaped like you wish it were.
Other people don’t exist merely for your viewing pleasure.
We’re reasonably confident that the finished costume will look great. Even if it doesn’t, that won’t be the fault of any of the actors. Please be nice.

Samantha Grant Trashes Chrissy Teigen as "Pudgy Airhead," Ignites Greatest Feud of Our Time
Samantha Grant has gone ahead and really done it now.
The estranged half-sister of Meghan Markle has spent the past year or so attacking her famous sibling, going after the new Duchess for ignoring their father and for essentially abandoning her family.
In Samantha’s very misguided opinion, that is.
About a week ago, for example, Samantha – who is 17 years older than Meghan and who did not grow up in the same household as Prince Harry’s better half – Tweeted the following:
Act like a humanitarian, act like a woman. If our father dies, it’s on you Meg.
How lovely, right?
A few days after Grant penned these kinds words to Markle, the pair’s father gave yet another interview to yet another British publication.
And, yet again, Thomas Markle absolutely BLASTED his daughter, accusing Meghan of cutting him off and holding a grudge against him for skipping her wedding and actively taking credit for everything Markle has accomplished.
This is not even hyperbole.
“What riles me is Meghan’s sense of superiority,” Thomas said to The Daily Mail, adding over this past weekend:
“She’d be nothing without me. I made her the duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.”
Markle has most remained silent while having her name endlessly dragged through the mud by her relatives.
But Chrissy Teigen could no longer sit idly by after reading Thomas’ latest insult-filled Q&A.
It’s unclear whether Teigen even knows Markle, but the former model has become well known for honest, open and hilarious approach to social media.
She’ll basically write anything, about any topic, at any time.
Heck, she once publicly told husband John Legend he could no longer bang her doggy style.
So… into the Markle-infested waters did Teigen wade on Sunday, Tweeting in response to Thomas’ ridiculous interview:
“this guy…this guy sucks. what is wrong with him? let your daughter be happy, please. this is embarrassing.”
Naturally, this set off Samantha Grant, who is constantly looking for any opportunity she can find to make headlines.
“So this pudgy airhead… who knows nobody in the family is opening her pie hole?” wrote Grant on her private Twitter page, concluding of her dad and of Chrissy:
“This guy” is our father and deserves a lot of respect. You are the one who sucks.”
We can’t help but wonder whether Donald Trump ghost wrote this Tweet for Samantha.
Teigen has not yet responded to Grant.
She may not do so because Grant is not worthy of anyone’s time and is just desperately trying to milk her 15 Minutes of Fame for as long as humanly possible.
But Teigen has never exactly been afraid of a fight, having taunted Donald Trump to the point that he recently blocked her.
We sort of hope she ignores Grant, but we sort of hope she goes all Chrissy Teigen on her as well.
Stay tuned!

Grant Hart Dies; Rock Legend Was 56
Sad news out of the music world today, as multiple outlets are reporting that Grant Hart, drummer for the legendary punk band Husker Du, has passed away at the age of 56.
Reps for the band say Hart had been battling cancer.
Though the members of Husker Du went their separate ways following a bitter breakup in 1989, they recently reunited to promote Savage Young Du, a three-disc compilation of the band’s early work.
It’s nearly impossible to overstate Husker Du’s impact on the indie rock and grunge scenes of the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Icons such as Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, and Ryan Adams have all cited the group as among their most profound influences.
As co-songwriter on some of Husker Du’s best-loved hits (“The Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill” and “Turn on the News”) Hart was an instrumental force in shaping the band’s signature sound.
With eccentric lyrics on titles such as “Diane” and “Books About UFOs,” Hart arguably did more than any individual songwriter to expand the range of punk rock’s subject matter.
Never content with genre labels, Husker Du continually cast off labels and expectations, forever surprising fans with experimental takes on old material, such as their groundbreaking cover of The Byrds’ 1967 hit, “Eight Miles High.”
Through it all, Grant Hart was at the forefront, pushing his bandmates and contemporaries to take their art in bold new directions.
Countless fans, friends and fellow musicians have paid tribute to Hart in the hours since news of his death went public.
And one tribute in particular has justly gone viral.
On Facebook, Hart’s bandmate Bob Mould recalled their first meeting and the subsequent decades of their often-turbulent relationship, writing:
“The next nine years of my life was spent side-by-side with Grant. We made amazing music together. We (almost) always agreed on how to present our collective work to the world.
“When we fought about the details, it was because we both cared. The band was our life. It was an amazing decade.
“We stopped working together in January 1988. We went on to solo careers, fronting our own bands, finding different ways to tell our individual stories.
“We stayed in contact over the next 29 years — sometimes peaceful, sometimes difficult, sometimes through go-betweens. For better or worse, that’s how it was, and occasionally that’s what it is when two people care deeply about everything they built together.”
Mould concluded:
“Grant Hart was a gifted visual artist, a wonderful story teller, and a frighteningly talented musician. Everyone touched by his spirit will always remember.”
“Godspeed, Grant. I miss you. Be with the angels.”
It’s a sentiment that’s echoed by thousands of rock fans today.
Our thoughts go out to Grant Hart and his family as they mourn the loss of a legend.

Hugh Grant Welcomes Fourth Child Since 2011!
Hugh Grant is a dad for the fourth time … IN AS MANY YEARS.
The British actor, 55, welcomed his fourth child, a daughter, last week. Swedish television producer Anna Eberstein, 37, is the mother.
“I can confirm that I have another grandchild,” Eberstein’s mother Susanne told Swedish paper Örnsköldsviks Allehanda. “It is wonderful.”
It is her second child with Grant, the Daily Mail reports.
The pair are also parents to son John, 3. Grant is also father to daughter Tabitha, 4, and son Felix, 3, his children with Tinglan Hong.
Yes, there are two three-year-olds, and Anna Eberstein’s came first, so Hugh appears to be prolifically alternating between the two.
Although fatherhood came as a bit of a surprise to Grant, a longtime bachelor, he says it’s changed his life for the better of late.
“Lots of people warned me … [that] the baby period is not that exciting. But I am excited, actually,” Hugh told The Guardian.
“I thought, well, I’ll bluff through … but very little bluffing has been required. I’m absolutely thrilled, I really am. And I feel a better person.”
Good to know. Congrats to the happy couple … or the happy parents, if they’re no longer a couple!! Either way, babies are wonderful!

Betsy Drake Dies; Actress, Ex-Wife of Cary Grant Was 92
Betsy Drake – star of over a dozen films and third wife of screen icon Cary Grant – has passed away at the age of 92.
Reports indicate that Drake died at her home in London on October 27, but news of her passing just became public last night.
Though her acting career was short-lived, Drake’s life was the stuff of Hollywood lore, and her marriage to Grant (the longest of his five unions) made her a household name for fans of celebrity gossip in the 1950s.
Of course, Drake was far more than just a Hollywood housewife.
After quitting acting, Drake turned to writing, but the manuscript for her first novel was lost at sea (along with $ 200,000 worth of jewelry) when she survived the sinking of the SS Andrea Doria in 1956.
Drake went on to study at Harvard and the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute.
Along with Grant (with whom she remained close friends throughout her life), Drake was an early proponent of the psychological benefits of LSD.
At the time, the drug was still legal, and she and Grant introduced several friends to hallucinogens long before they became popular in the mid-60s.
Drake was ahead of her time in many other ways, as well.
Though she gave her up her career to dote on Grant, she later became something of proto-feminist, often commenting on modern marriage and the state of women in the film business in ways that shocked the old guard.
“The freedom to eat rare meat, drink red wine and not watch television made up for the agony of divorce,” she once remarked in an interview.
Drake never remarried, and friends say she spent her final years writing poetry, painting, and riding her beloved bicycle.
