Dennis Hof No Drugs Found at Death Scene ... Was Healthy Weeks Before
Dennis Hof was the picture of health before his untimely death, and there are no obvious signs he was under the influence when he died … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us no drugs or alcohol were found near Hof’s body Tuesday when paramedics arrived at his Love Ranch home in Crystal, Nevada. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Sources close to the late owner of the famous Bunny Ranch brothels say Hof did not drink or take drugs of any kind — and insist even his signature cigar was fake.
Also interesting … we’re told 72-year-old Hof was given a clean bill of health just 2 weeks ago after undergoing cataract surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Our sources say Hof appeared to be in tip-top shape last weekend during his birthday celebrations.
We’re told friends became concerned Tuesday when they weren’t able to get a hold of him, as sources say he was always up by 4:30 AM and easily reachable by cell unless he had company.
Since he wasn’t answering Tuesday, his pals assumed that was the case … until Ron Jeremy discovered his body at his home around 11 AM.
Hof was in the middle of a campaign for State Assembly in Nevada before he passed.

Thomas Ravenel: Evil Kathryn Dennis is Using Our Kids Ratings & Fame!!
Last month, Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis filed to amend custody of her two children following the arrest of baby daddy Thomas Ravenel.
Though Thomas is facing a criminal trial, he’s also making time to fight this custody filing.
Thomas is alleging that Kathryn is only making this move to get better ratings — and that Bravo put her up to it.
RadarOnline got their hands on some documents from Charleston Family Court.
Thomas is suing, but he’s not aiming directly at Kathryn.
Instead, the disgraced former politician is suing Bravo and production company Haymaker Media, Inc.
Thomas claims that they “encouraged, condoned and/or gave Plaintiff express or implied consent to initiate a lawsuit against the Third Party Plaintiff.”
This suit being, of course, “for custody of Plaintiff’s and Third Party Plaintiff’s minor children.”
“The Plaintiff filed and was encouraged to file this lawsuit,” Thomas’ team alleges.
And they say it was done “for the express or implied purpose of providing material for the filming of Season 6 of Southern Charm.“
Thomas is trying to stop Bravo from airing any footage of Kathryn’s kids. Even though it’s a reality show and she’s their mom.
“The Third Party Plaintiff requests that this Court enjoin the Third Party Defendants,” the suit says.
The papers continue: “from disseminating and/or airing any Season 6 and/or otherwise unaired video footage which features the minor children.”
Thomas wants no footage relating “in this matter and/or which directly or indirectly concerns the minor children, this litigation, and/or the custody dispute.”
He specifies that the dispute is: “between the Plaintiff and the Third Party Plaintiff.”
“And,” the papers say, he wants this footage to remain unaired on Bravo “permanently.”
Thomas is also asking the court to force the defendants to pay all attorney fees.
“Defendant is informed,” the suit claims.
“And believes it is not coincidental that Plaintiff initiated this litigation during the filming of the next season of Southern Charm,” the documents conclude.
Kathryn Dennis is a reality star.
While she’s not literally always filming, she does spend a lot of her life during periods when she’s filming.
That is how the reality business usually works.
Thomas should know that — he spent five years on the show that he’s now suing.
If there is a special component to Kathryn’s timing, it probably has less to do with reality television.
It probably has more to do with Thomas Ravenel’s arrest in September for assault and battery.
The arrest stems from harrowing accusations from Nanny Dawn, one of two women who have come forward to accuse Ravenel of rape.
Kathryn insisted that she was going to avoid directly commenting on the allegations at first.
(She did manage to get a 50/50 custody split around that time, very quietly)
But an arrest is much more difficult to gloss over for the sake of one’s shared children.
Kathryn very likely seeks to limit how much her very young children are exposed to what’s sure to be a highly publicized trial.
It was the month following Thomas’ arrest that Kathryn filed to amend their custody arrangement.
There is doubt that Thomas’ team’s argument that Kathryn’s sinister plot to have custody of her own children is a ploy for ratings.
It seems more likely that, at “worst,” she cynically figured that right now — while he’s facing trial — may be her best shot at getting custody.
If Thomas ends up going to prison, she’s a shoe-in for custody anyway.
But if Thomas avoids prison time or is acquitted, she may never have this good of a chance in court again.
And again, how much of their father’s trial do Kensie and Saint really need to be exposed to?
We’re no legal scholars, but some wonder if perhaps Thomas doesn’t believe that he has a real chance of blocking Bravo from filming.
It may be that he hopes to instead plant a seed of doubt in family court about Kathryn’s intentions.
If he can successfully portray his ex as an opportunistic glutton for fame, the court may be less inclined to see things Kathryn’s way.
But the guy who’s about to face trial for rape is going to have an uphill battle to convince anyone that he’s the good parent.

Ashley Jacobs: Kathryn Dennis is LYING About Being Sober!
One woman’s redemption arc is another woman’s villain origin story — but is everything as it appears?
Former Southern Charm villain Ashley Jacobs says that she never wanted to be Kathryn Dennis’ enemy.
But Ashley also says that Kathryn isn’t sober and has never been sober, and that her trip to rehab was a publicity stunt.
Ashley Jacobs took to Instagram to chat with fans … and she began by sharing that she was asked to return to Southern Charm.
(Others, including Patricia Altschul, have suggested that Ashley was never invited back)
“They wanted me to film with Eliza Limehouse and one other cast member,” Ashley claims.
Ashley even furnishes additional details, writing: “They asked us to film while getting our nails done.”
“Kathryn and Eliza do not get along,” Ashley shares. “So it felt like a setup.”
Ashley and Kathryn’s feud was a major storyline last season.
“My intent is not to hurt her,” Ashley says.
Contrary to how it has appeared, Ashley writes: “I have no animosity towards her.”
You know how sometimes a discussion seems settled, and then someone texts I just think it’s funny that …
That’s what Ashley does here.
“But I think it’s wrong to pretend you are sober and to use it as a platform if it’s not true,” Ashley writes.
Ashley explains that she objects to Kathryn’s alleged lies because they’re an insult to real sober folks.
“There are people that are truly trying to turn their lives around,” Ashley says.
She insists that: “It’s not something you lie about.”
Ashley, we should probably note, is a registered nurse.
People in the medical profession can be particularly sensitive to what addiction can do to people.
“Considering [Kathryn]was seen at [Vintage Lounge] and several [other] bars on Saturday night drinking… I think it’s pretty clear,” Ashley concludes.
Ashley then doubles down on her insistence that Ashley is not and has not been sober.
“She was never sober,” Ashley insists. “Rehab was paid for by Bravo.”
“She didn’t complete the program,” Ashley claims. “It was a publicity stunt.”
“As soon as she came back to Charleston she was seen drinking at Halls, Vintage, Deco, Republic… the list goes on,” Ashley reports.
“She doesn’t try to hide it,” Ashley adds.
“In Charleston everyone is aware,” she says to explain that she’s not starting this rumor. “I’m not broadcasting it.”
“In Charleston everyone knows,” Ashley repeats. “She just hides it well on social media.”
Despite having just put Kathryn on blast and accusing her of being a lying hypocrite as well as an addict, Ashley laments that they’re not friends.
“The interesting thing is,” Ashley points out. “She was painted as the villain for several seasons.”
Yep. And then, very notably, Kathryn became a much more chill person.
“I know she understands what I am going through,” Ashley says.
“I wish we could have used the common ground as a foundation for a positive relationship,” Ashley says.
If Ashley really did hope to become friends with Kathryn, these comments are not the way to do it.
Perhaps she just figures that it’s too late anyway.
We have to say that dating Kathryn’s ex who is also her baby daddy was probably not the best way to make a good first impression.
Also, no amount of “editing” could make their on-camera interactions last season seem anything but hostile.
We know that Ashley has admitted that she did not respond well to being on a realtiy show.
(We are also fully aware of the way that Thomas would bait her into getting upset, as was pointed out by the other stars)
But ultimately, Ashley chose to have an adversarial relationship with Kathryn.
As for Ashley’s accusation against Kathryn … we obviously can’t vouch for them.
We can confirm that Ashley tested positive for marijuana (who cares) and cocaine (okay that one’s not ideal) in her system.
It was because of that drug test that Thomas got custody of their children. Only this summer did Kathryn start fighting back.
While Kathryn has spoken about her sobriety, that word can mean different things to different people.
Some people get sober from hard drugs but continue to use marijuana, often as a medicine.
Others might do the same but continue to drink alcohol, especially socially.
That said, we’re not saying that this is what Kathryn is doing.
We’re inclined to take Ashley’s statements with a grain of salt.

Thomas Ravenel Accuses Kathryn Dennis of Exploiting Kids for "Marketability" and Fame
Thomas Ravenel continues to prove that he’s simply the worst.
We doubt anyone familiar with the former Southern Charm lead would argue this point, but please allow us to explain why it must now be emphasized once again…
As previously reported on The Hollywood Gossip, Kathryn Dennis recently filed to amend her ongoing child custody agreement with Ravenel.
The stars are no longer together, but they will forever be parents to a four-year old daughter named Kensie and a nearly three-year old son named Saint.
Dennis filed these papers and asked a judge to grant her full custody of the toddlers after Ravenel was arrested for sexual assault.
Obtained by People Magazine, the documents accuse Ravenel of relying “upon the use of full-time nannies” to care for his kids, while also referencing the pair of sexual assault allegations brought against him.
Dennis also alleges that Ravenel “has drunk alcohol to excess, mixed with prescription drugs, that has caused him to be impaired during periods of time in which he had custody of the children.”
She says plenty more as well.
Dennis claims her ex of exhibited “periods of impulsive and uncontrollable bouts of anger” and “extreme narcissism and anger management problems.”
Moreover, Dennis went after Ravenel’s most recent girlfriend, Ashley Jacobs, writing that he encouraged her to “verbally assault and attack” Dennis on the Bravo series, something for which Jacobs has actually apologized.
On November 6, responded to these scathing claims.
He actually filed a counterclaim, strongly denying all of Dennis’ allegations and accusing Kathryn of acting “in bad faith.”
Ravenel doesn’t believe Dennis actually cares about the well-being of her kids or that she really thinks Thomas is a bad influence on them.
Instead, Ravenel writes in his official reply that Dennis filed her complaint “for the purpose of garnering media attention, creating material for her storyline on Southern Charm and ensuring her marketability as a reality TV star.”
Indeed, there’s simply no way Dennis would want to keep her kids away from someone accused by two women of rape, right?
She must have a self-centered motive and simply must be making these claims to advane her own career.
(That second sentence was written with sarcasm, in case you couldn’t tell.)
In his filing, Ravenel allegsd that Dennis’ attempt to seek primary custody was “for the sole and/or primary purpose” of securing her role on the Bravo program and “progressing her storyline as the ‘rehabilitated mother who regains possession of her minor children.’”
(Dennis lost custody of the kids and entered rehab in 2016 after she failed a drug test. She has since earned back 50/50 custody.)
It’s hard to get much more cynical than that.
Ravenel even says that the producers of Southern Charm encouraged Dennis to seek full custody in order to have “dramatic material for next season.”
No one from the network has responded to this charge just yet.
Ravenel is asking the court to issue a restraint prohibiting Dennis from discussing their litigation on the show, on social media and with the press.
He’s also asking the court to prohibit their kids from being filmed or featured on Southern Charm.
Ravenel is saying all of this just days after a South Carolina judge found probable cause for second-degree assault and battery charges against Ravenel stemming from an incident in 2015.
A nanny who worked for the star has said on legal record that Ravenel “corralled” her into his master bedroom at that time, dropped his pants, blocked the door and “proceeded to rip my clothes off.”
She doesn’t explain how, but the nanny says she managed to extricate herself from the situation before anything further took place.
Ravenel has denied this claim and has said he will not return to Southern Charm for Season 6.

Dennis Hof Dead, Owner of Bunny Ranch Where Lamar Odom OD"d
Dennis Hof — the owner of the famous Bunny Ranch where Lamar Odom overdosed — has passed away at the age of 72. Law enforcement sources tell us they got a 911 call from Hof’s Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada around 11 AM. We’re told the call was for…
Dennis Hof, Famous Brothel Owner, Dead at 72
Dennis Hof, a world famous brothel owner and reality television personality, was found dead Tuesday at his often-frequented Love Ranch in Nevada.
He was 72 years old.
A Republican candidate for the state Assembly in a southern Nevada district, Hof reportedly died in his sleep just hours after a celebration that featured pornography star Ron Jeremy… former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio … and anti-tax activist Grover Norquist.
This news was confirmed by Hof’s campaign manager, Chuck Muth.
Jeremy, the best known porn star on the planet, actually found Hof’s body early on Tuesday.
Hof formerly anchored the series Cathouse, which aired on HBO and which chronicled life at his sex-laden residence.
However, he recently made national headlines after earning a primary victory over a three-term Republican in a rural district in Southern Nevada.
The Nye County Sheriff’s office said Tuesday that it was investigating Hof’s death.
“We had a wonderful event last night,” Muth told the Reno Gazette Journal. “He was having the time of his life.”
In the celebrity gossip universe, Hof was perhaps best known for running the brothel at which Lamar Odom suffered a near-fatal overdose in 2015.
Speaking to NPR earlier this year, Hof was unabashed about his work as a legal pimp, along with his political aspirations.
“Dennis Hof is the Trump of Pahrump,” he said, outlining the way people spoke about him in the most populous town in the district and adding of himself:
“He’s rich, he’s famous, he’s got nerves of steel. He likes hot girls.”
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported a few months ago, however, that numerous former prostitutes had accused Hof of sexual assault.
The cases were never prosecuted and, according to USA Today, Hof denied the allegations.
Hof posted bail for Liberace’s former lover, Scott Thorson, in 2013, after Thorson took up residence at the Bunny Ranch.
He also hosted a “Get My Grandpa Laid” contest on the Howard Stern show later that year, often doing these sorts of explicit publicity stunts in order to stay in the news.
As for his unexpected candiacy?
“It’s all because Donald Trump was the Christopher Columbus for me,” Hof said of why he won his primary. “He found the way, and I jumped on it.”
And Hof could actually still win the seat for which he was running.
Ballots for the November 6 election have already been printed.
Outlets say that notices of Hof’s death will be posted at the polls.
If he should win, according to a spokesman for the Nevada secretary of state, the seat would be considered vacant.
Commissioners from the three counties in the district would then appoint another Republican to the position.
“This is not anything that I would have ever guessed would happen,” said Hof’s Democratic opponent, Lesia Romanov.
“My heart goes out to those who care about him. Just a crazy turn of events.”

Kathryn Dennis: I"m a Domestic Violence Survivor. This is My Story.
Over the past several weeks, each time we’ve written about Kathryn Dennis, it’s been in relation to Thomas Ravenel.
That’s what happens when you share two kids with the lead of a Bravo reality show…
… and then that lead gets accused of sexual assault by two women.
In this case, however, we’re here to talk about the Southern Charm star and a different man from her past.
We don’t know his name.
But we do know that this individual sadly has had a major impact on Dennis’ life.
On Sunday evening, the 27-year old posted both the following image on Instagram and included with it a lengthy message about how she is a surivor of domestic abuse.
Dennis proceeded to tell her story via this social media platform, prefacing the emotional post with a caption that reads:
“This is my past, perfectly put…. worth the read. This is the real aftermath.”
The reality star then went into painful detail as follows:
I spend a lot of time thinking about those questions. I never saw myself in these situations and neither did anyone else. I had strong opinions, a sharp mind, and an independent spirit.
But before I knew it, I was left with a broken spirit, mixed opinions, and an anxious and uncertain mind. I didn’t know who I was anymore.
Dennis never names her abuser.
She doesn’t get into specifics about the incident or incidents, either.
Instead, she focuses more on the effects this experience has had on her life — and continues to have on her life.
It was the deepest, darkest secret I kept.
And this wasn’t about any particular situation/relationship as much as it was my relationship with men. It ran deep and dark, and I never realized the impact it had on myself and on my self-worth.
In these depths of despair, I couldn’t see a way out of this cycle. It seemed anywhere I turned pushed me further and further away from getting to a safe place physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I looked around and within and realized that my self-worth had been damaged long before I even realized it was possible. This made me really question myself.
And this is how Dennis concludes:
Was it me? Was this normal behavior, and I was the one in the wrong?
I knew deep down inside that wasn’t the case, but I was stuck in quicksand being guided by those who kept my head above, but my feet locked in.
Powerful stuff, no?
Tragically, there are millions of women out there who can relate to most everything Dennis describes here.
She went on to share a handful of memes, such as the ones below:
Kathryn’s revelation about her past trauma with domestic violence comes just weeks after her ex-boyfriend, Ravenel, was arrested for second degree assault and battery.
The ex-Bravo personality was taken into custody on charges related to sexual assault claims made by his former nanny, Dawn, who cared for his and Kathryn’s two kids, Kensington, 4, and Saint Julien, 2, years ago.
Ugly stuff all around.
Very unfortunately for Dennis, it sounds like she may have more challenging times ahead as a result.

Kathryn Dennis Reacts in Shock to Ashley Jacobs Apology
Earlier this week, Southern Charm star Ashley Jacobs took most of the Internet by surprise when she issued an apology to Kathryn Dennis.
The Bravo stars had gone back and forth for most of this show’s fifth season, with their feud mostly based on the fact that both had slept with awful lead cast member Thomas Ravenel.
Dennis is actually the mother of Ravenel’s two young children, atlhough she was only his “egg donor,” according to one of Jacobs’ insults from this last batch of new episodes.
Ashley has also accused Dennis in the past of being on drugs and of being a terrible mother whose kids see more of their father’s girlfriend (Jacobs, at that time) than they do of their own mom.
Pretty heinous stuff all around.
So… how did Dennis respond after when Jacobs penned a lengthy Instagram mea culpa that said she owes all Southern Charms fans, but especially “Kathryn in particular” an apology?
By basically laughing in her rival’s face, that’s how.
In a video shared to her Instagram Story page, fellow Southern Charm star Danni Bird gave followers a look at Dennis’ response today.
You can see in the footage that Denis is shocked by Ashley’s post, reading out loud, for instance, how Jacobs claimed she “learned a tremendous lesson” and responding:
“This lesson? That’s a tremendous word for you!”
Dennis also reacted to Jacobs’ conclusion of the apology, which read:
“I can’t rightfully describe how sorry I am, but I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t at least try. Yours Truly, Ashley.”
“Yours Truly?!?” Dennis says. “She’s writing this to nobody.”
That’s not exactly a very personal way to sign something, it’s true.
But Jacobs does go on in detail about how out of line she was to call out a parent for, well, anything.
It’s a role to which the child-less Ashley cannot relate.
“After many chats with my friends and family with children, I never understood the unbreakable bond a parent has with their child,” the 33-year-old wrote in her message, adding:
“I can listen and learn and be more respectful in the future but until I’m blessed with a child, I can never truly understand the sacrifices a parent makes on behalf of their children.”
This could be a load of BS.
But it’s some fairly well written BS.
The letter, however, is addressed to Ashley’s fans, not to Dennis herself, prompting another priceless response from Kathryn:
“Are you kidding me?”
Jacobs, meanwhile, broke up with Ravenel last week, perhaps finally seeing the light after he had been accused of rape by two women.
This split came a day after Ravenel quit Southern Charm, taking no responsibility at all for his actions in the process.
“I crossed a line and hurt people who don’t deserve it,” Jacobs said in her apology, seemingly coming across as serious.
But not to the main person who she was trying to appease.
“Do you think somewhere a village is missing its idiot?” Bird replied while reading Jacobs’ note, eliciting a laugh from Dennis.
Kathryn also re-shared a still from Bird’s video and captioned it “@dannibird for real?” with laughing emojis.
Yeah. We somehow doubt she and Jacobs will be meeting for coffee any time soon.

Ashley Jacobs Actually Apologizes to Kathryn Dennis in Open Letter
Ashley Jacobs says she is very sorry.
But critics still say she is full of it.
Scroll down, read the latest piece of news about these Southern Charm stars, and try to decide for yourself on which side of this debate you fall.
“To all the Southern Charm fans, in general. And to Kathryn, in particular. I owe you all an apology,” Jacobs wrote in a note posted to Instagram on Tuesday, August 21.
Seems like a strong start, right?
Jacobs and Dennis engaged in a tense relationship throughout Southern Charm Season 5.
At the time, Jacobs was dating Thomas Ravenel, Dennis’ ex-boyfriend and the father of her two kids.
This created some understandable awkwardness, but perhaps now Jacobs has seen a bit of light after she broke up with Ravenel late last week.
(And after Ravenel was accused of rape by two different women.)
Continues Jacobs in her unexpected mea culpa:
“I’d like to apologize for how I treated Kathryn, and how badly I disrespected her. I’m not sure what made me think it was okay to speak to a mother that way.
“It wasn’t.
“It was not my place to say anything at all, much less the reckless comments I made. I crossed a line and hurt people who don’t deserve it.”
What are the sort of “reckless comments” to which Jacobs is referring here?
Well… she once called Dennis nothing but Ravenel’s “egg donor,” saying her kids “weren’t planned on.”
She also slammed her parenting style, suggesting Dennis was on drugs, and alleging she sees Ravenel’s children more than Dennis does.
You know, that sort of stuff; the sort of stuff ripe for a reality TV rivalry.
But now that Jacobs is no longer with Ravenel, and now that she maybe sees him for the monster he appears to be, Jacobs has seemingly come around.
“After many chats with my friends and family with children, I never understood the unbreakable bond a parent has with their child,” the 33-year-old writes here, adding:
“I can listen and learn and be more respectful in the future but until I’m blessed with a child, I can never truly understand the sacrifices a parent makes on behalf of their children.
“Some children may not truly get it until they have their own baby.
“It makes me feel horrible that I may have taken my own parents for granted and thus I’ve learned a tremendous lesson from all the good parents out there.
“I can’t rightfully describe how sorry I am, but I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t at least try.”
Wow, huh?
Jacobs started to appear on Southern Charm last year after she got together with Ravenel, who sahares four-year-old daughter Kensie and two-year-old son Saint with Dennis
It’s unclear if she’ll play a role on Season 6 now that Ravenel has announced his departure from the show.
It’s also unclear, to some, whether Jacobs is even sincere in writing all of these very kind words.
“Ashley just wants attention,” a critical insider tells Entertainment Tonight, adding that these women have not had any contact since the fiery Season 5 reunion.
“Kathryn is focused on more important things,” the source concluded when asked whether Dennis will respond.
Jacobs swears she means all of this, though.
“I have tried to ask her to lunch/coffee so I could apologize to her person to person,” Jacobs replied to one comment before revealing that she “attempted to apologize to her person to person a few months ago” to a different user.
No other Southern Charm cast member has remarked on this attempt to end the nasty feud, but we can guess what Patricia Altschul thinks about Jacobs.
Actually, we don’t need to guess.
“My new favorite word is ‘famewhore,’” she told Entertainment Tonight in July of Jacobs.
“I love to use it whenever possible, so… famewhore! Famewhore! Famewhore! I think it’s hard to fall in love after five dates.
Call me a skeptic, and the fact that she was so adamant about getting a ring, getting clothes, getting jewelry, getting Vuitton luggage.
“I mean, it seemed a little too obvious to just be love.”

Jason Hoppy: Dennis Shields" Death PROVES Bethenny Frankel Is a Bad Mom!
If you thought that you hated Jason Hoppy before, when he was stalking and harassing Bethenny Frankel, you’re about to be even less of a fan of his.
Dennis Shields was found dead last week, and while Bethenny was mourning the loss of her ex-boyfriend, Hoppy and his attorney readied their move.
Hoppy is already trying to use Shields’ death to hurt Bethenny in court.
Us Weekly had an insider in court on Thursday, August 16, when Hoppy’s attorney brought up Dennis Shields in a disgusting attempt to cast doubt on Bethenny’s qualifications as a mother to the couple’s 8-year-old, Bryn.
“It was reported that he died of an Oxycodone overdose,” Hoppy’s attorney reportedly said in the courtroom.
You can immediately see where this is going. Ugh.
Hoppy’s attorney continued: “Our concern is while his death is very sad, this raises serious concerns about Ms. Frankel’s parental judgment.”
For the record, Dennis Shields’ final words revealed that he had mixed ordinary medications that may have had a deadly interaction, but that’s the least of the problems with this argument.
“Dennis Shields spent a great deal of time with Bryn,” Hoppy’s attorney asserted. “And even cared for Bryn at times when Ms. Frankel wasn’t around.”
Well, Shields was part of Bethenny’s life for a couple of decades and he also dated her. That’s normal.
“Considering Mr. Shields’ addiction,” Hoppy’s team argued. “What does that say about Ms. Frankel’s parenting that she would allow this person to care for her daughter?”
That is heavily loaded with assumptions about Shields’ health and unfounded prejudices against people who use prescription painkillers.
“This doesn’t just constitute a lapse in judgment,” Hoppy’s attorney claimed. “This was just downright dangerous parenting.”
This didn’t come up in court out of nowhere. Apparently, Hoppy’s team waited until things were going well for Bethenny before bringing up such a loaded attack.
“Bethenny, in Bryn’s best interest, asked for a new trial,” the courtroom insider reports.
“The minute the judge agreed to that today,” the source continues. “Jason’s side brought up the Dennis stuff.”
One wonders how long they waited after news broke of Shields’ tragic passing before preparing to use this as a weapon in court.
That said … we have to remember that attorney’s are sworn to zealously represent their clients.
The courtroom insider said that the judge noticed that this was quite an escalation.
The source shares: “The judge said now you’re throwing ‘grenades.’”
“Jason and his team were OK with Bethenny as a mom when they walked into the courtroom,” the insider reports.
That chagned when things stopped going their way, it seems.
“But then once Bethenny got what she wanted,” the insider describes. “They didn’t think the was a good mom.”
Hoppy’s team also tried to dredge up Bethenny’s The Real Housewives of New York City behavior, as if it reflected her skills as a parent.
“There was a recent episode in which she appeared to be intoxicated,” Hoppy’s team reportedly argued. “She was running around without clothes on and then she passed out and it was said she passed out from mixing Ambien with alcohol.”
Arguing that someone’s child-free behavior on a reality series disqualifies them from being a parent is usually a stretch, akin to confusing an actor with a movie role they played.
“Our concerns are whether Ms. Frankel may have some type of substance-abuse problems,” Hopps’ attorney had the nerve to say. “So we would ask the court to order drug testing of Ms. Frankel to find out whether that’s an issue.”
Outrageous.
Dennis Shields: Final Words Shed Light on His Tragic Death
Just a week ago, Dennis Shields was found dead in his Trump Tower apartment.
Though the ex-boyfriend of Betheny Frankel’s cause of death has yet to be officially declared in an autopsy report, we now know his final words.
And his final statement may shed a lot of light on what preceded his unfortunate passing.
TMZ reports that Dennis Shields was able to speak a few words to EMTs who arrived and attempted to save his life.
Sources say that, in those final moments, he told paramedics and police that he had taken his prescribed oxycodone and Vicodin and a sleeping pill.
His intention, he revealed at the time, was to address the pain from his back injury.
Though his assistant had already administered Narcan before emergency responders arrived, everyone’s best efforts were unable to save him.
That combo of drugs turned out to be tragically lethal.
As TMZ notes, that combination of drugs can be dangerous and even potentially deadly.
Doctors and other medical experts strongly advise against mixing opioids with sleeping pills or any type of sedative.
Taking these medications in what are individually safe amounts can become unsafe, due to interactions between the powerful medications.
Had this been a simple overdose of oxycodone, perhaps the three doses of Narcan — two from his assistant and one from EMTs — that Shields received would have been able to save him.
This is so heartbreaking.
TMZ‘s law enforcement sources report that they did find prescription pill bottles scattered throughout his house.
They did not find any ilicit substances or drug paraphernalia which might be associated with them.
If you are overdosing or experiencing another medical crisis, it is always adviseable to be honest with the people who are trying to save your life.
The “pill bottles scattered everywhere” image might seem suspicious for some, but it’s not uncommon for folks to accidentally hold on to their empty prescription bottles.
(They may cling to them as a reference, or forget that they have them, or decide that they want to remove the label for privacy before recycling them)
Earlier this week, The Real Housewives of New York City star and Skinnygirl mogul Bethenny Frankel broke her silence on Shields’ death.
Though they were not dating at the time of his passing, they have had an on-again, off-again relationship for ages.
Bethenny is mourning his passing. At his funeral, she broke down in tears.
On Instagram, she shared a throwback photo of him and her late dog, Cookie, back-to-back.
Both Shields and Cookie have since passed.
“Rest In Peace,” Bethenny captioned the image. “My sweet babies who gave me endless unconditional love.”
It is important to stress that the medical examiner’s office has yet to announce an official cause of death for Dennis Shields.
It is always possible that the dangerous combination of drugs that he took in a desperate attempt to quell his back pain were not the cause, or not the sole cause.
The medical examiner is likely waiting for the results of a toxicology report. Those can take time, especially when investigators are checking for every possibility.
We hope that Shields’ loved ones, including his four children, can find peace and closure after this tragic loss.
