Deborah Ramirez: Second Woman Accuses Brett Kavanaugh of Sexual Misconduct

Deborah Ramirez, a former Yale classmate of Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, has come out and accused the embattled judge of sexual misconduct.

She’s the second woman in about a week to have done so.

In an explosive article penned by Ronan Farrow (the reporter who exposed allegedly heinous sex-related crimes by Harvey Weinstein and Les Moonves) and investigative journalist Jane Mayer, Ramirez says Kavanaugh exposed his penis to her during a party their freshman year of college.

The 53-year old admits to having been very drunk at this dorm gathering, but that Kavanaugh “caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”

She says he then laughed at the incident, which allegedly took place at some point in 1983 or 1984.

Farrow and Mayer write that Ramirez was initially hesitant to come forward due to “gaps in her memory” as a result of the alcohol consumption that night. However…

“After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”

This is what Ramirez says about what transpired:

“I wasn’t going to touch a penis until I was married [because] I was raised a devout Catholic in Connecticut… I was embarrassed and ashamed and humiliated.”

Describing her memory of Kavanaugh’s act and subequent reaction, Ramirez told the magazine:

“I can still see his face, and his hips coming forward, like when you pull up your pants.”

The aspiring Supreme Court Justice, who is currently scheduled to testify in from of Senators on Thursday morning in response to an attempted rape allegation by Christine Blasey Ford, has issued the following statement:

This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen.

The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple.

I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name — and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building — against these last-minute allegations.

And then there’s this from White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec:

This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats designed to tear down a good man.

This claim is denied by all who were said to be present and is wholly inconsistent with what many women and men who knew Judge Kavanaugh at the time in college say.

The White House stands firmly behind Judge Kavanaugh.

Sources say President Donald Trump has no intention on asking Kavanaugh to withdraw his name from consideration, while Senator Diane Feinstein has called for a delay of all hearings and testimonies until the FBI can investigate both allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh.

According to The New Yorker article, “Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaugh’s nomination.

“Soon after, Senate Republicans issued renewed calls to accelerate the timing of a committee vote.”

A roommate of Kavanaugh’s in college tells the publication that he may not have been present at this Yale party in question — but that he is “100 percent” sure that Kavanaugh would have done something like this during his time at Yale.

The judge was part of a fraternity (Delta Kappa Epsilon)back then that whose members waved a flag made of women’s underwear around campus during his time as a brother.

The Yale Daily News has also noted that Kavanaugh became a member of Truth and Courage, one of Yale’s secret societies for seniors that was nicknamed “Tit and Clit.”

In 2015, referring to his high school, he said in a speech that “what happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep and that’s been a good thing for all of us, I think.”

This may not be the case after all, however.

“I would think an FBI investigation would be warranted,” Ramirez told The New Yorker of her claims.

Ford has also encouraged the FBI to look into her allegations against Kavanaugh.

Neither Republican Senators nor President Trump have given the agency a green light to do so, however.

Sara Ramirez Calls Out ABC Over "Biphobia" Joke

Sara Ramirez may no longer work on an ABC show.

But that doesn’t mean the actress has stopped watching ABC shows.

The former Grey’s Anatomy star made this clear on Thursday via Twitter, responding in negative fashion to a joke that was made last month on The Real O’Neals.

On the episode in question, which aired on January 17, Noah Galvin’s openly gay character, Kenny, compared being bisexual to having “webbed toes” or “money problems.”

Where’s the humor in those references?

That’s what Ramirez wants to know.

Ramirez – who portrayed bisexual character Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy for 10 years and who then came out herself as bisexual – wrote that she was “truly disheartened and disappointed” by the joke, adding that she would “invest my brand where I’m respected.”

The actress addressed ABC and The Real O’Neals producers in her Tweet, encouraging them to “own” and “address” the mistake in order to “empower our #Queer and #Bisexual youth & community w/accurate positive reflections.”

In response to a fan who thanked Ramirez for speaking out against “biphobia,” Ramirez Tweeted the following:

“As someone who worked 4 them 4 10 years+,am truly disheartened & disappointed quite frankly.I will invest my brand where I’m respected.”

And then there was the response below from PFLAG.

Formerly known as Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, PFLAG is the largest domestic organization for parents, families, friends, and allies united with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.

It actually worked with The Real O’Neals on the episode that featured this joke and it released a statement in response to the backlash.

Read the statement here:

Ramirez also linked on Twitter to a Change.org petition that seeks to “End Biphobia and Bi-erasure on The Real O’Neals.”

Those who watch Grey’s Anatomy online or on television for a decade fell in love with Ramirez as Callie, the tough-minded surgeon who dated Mark Sloan and married Arizona Robbins.

She surprised many fans when she left the role last May.

“I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now, I’m taking some welcome time off,” Ramirez said in a statement at time, adding:

“[Series creator] Shonda [Rhimes has] been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations.

“I send my love to Ellen [Pompeo], the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!

Rhimes did not kill Callie off, so the door does remain open for a future return.

After four months after departing the series, Ramirez got on stage at the 40 To None Summit and delivered a speech about her sexuality.

“So many of our youth experiencing homelessness are youth whose lives touch on many intersections, whether they be gender identity, gender expression, race, class, sexual orientation, religion, citizenship status,” she said.

“And because of the intersections that exist in my own life – woman, multiracial woman, woman of color, queer, bisexual, Mexican-Irish American, immigrant, and raised by families heavily rooted in Catholicism on both my Mexican & Irish sides – I am deeply invested in projects that allow our youth’s voices to be hear.”

Ramirez went on to say that she wants to “support our youth in owning their own complex narratives so that we can show up for them in the ways they need us to.”

After saying these inspiring words, the actress Tweeted:

”#ThankYou @TrueColorsFund 4 the work you do 2 end #LGBTQ #YouthHomelessness & your support #Woman #Latinx #Bisexual #Intersectionality.”

Ramirez married Ryan DeBolt in 2012.

We wish her the best and give her props for always speaking her mind when it comes to important issues.

Sara Ramirez Comes Out as Bisexual

Sara Ramirez has made a major admission about her personal life:

She is bisexual.

The actress, best known for her long-running role as Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy, made this admission on Saturday in Los Angeles at the 40 To None Summit.

This is what Ramirez said to those in attendance at the event:

“So many of our youth experiencing homelessness are youth whose lives touch on many intersections, whether they be gender identity, gender expression, race, class, sexual orientation, religion, citizenship status.

“And because of the intersections that exist in my own life – woman, multiracial woman, woman of color, queer, bisexual, Mexican-Irish American, immigrant, and raised by families heavily rooted in Catholicism on both my Mexican & Irish sides – I am deeply invested in projects that allow our youth’s voices to be heard.”

Ramirez went on to say that she wants to “support our youth in owning their own complex narratives so that we can show up for them in the ways they need us to.”

Following the appearance, Ramirez shared the quote on Twitter and Instagram.

She also wrote the following:

“#40ToNoneSummit #SpeakingMyTruth! Will post full video of speech soon! #ThankYou @TrueColorsFund #WomanOfColor #Bisexual #Queer #Immigrant.”

In a separate Tweet, the beloved TV star added:

”#ThankYou @TrueColorsFund 4 the work you do 2 end #LGBTQ #YouthHomelessness & your support #Woman #Latinx #Bisexual #Intersectionality.”

Ramirez is married to Ryan DeBolt. They wed in 2012.

She came on board Grey’s Anatomy full-time on Season 2 of the ABC series.

At that time, she served as a love interest to George O’Malley, but she eventually married a fellow female doctor a few years after George was killed in a bus accident.

So this ended up being an example of art mirroring real life.

The 40 to None Summit was named after the 40 percent of youth experiencing homelessness who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

The actress left Grey’s Anatomy after 10 years this past May, a move that surprised show creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes.

“This one was different because it wasn’t a big planned thing,” Rhimes said at the Vulture Festival in NYC on May 22 of Ramirez departing.

“I had a different plan going and when Sara came in and said, ‘I really need to take this break,’ I was lucky that we’d shot the end of the season with her going to New York.”

We wouldn’t be surprised if Ramirez returns to the series at some point.

We congratulate her on this brave announcement.

She joins the following celebrities as stars who are out as bisexual:

According to various outlets, Ramirez was found unresponsive on July 7 on an especially hot day in Las Vegas.

His family members tells TMZ that paramedics came across the rapper in an unresponsive state, with his body temperature hovering around 107 degrees.

Ramirez also had severe burns on his body.

DTTZ was taken to a nearby hospital at the time and placed on life support, where he remained until yesterday.

Sara Ramirez is Leaving Grey"s Anatomy: Read Her Statement

On Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 Episode 24, nearly every character wrapped up the season in a happy state.

Moreover, there were no shooting or natural disasters or plane crashes or major deaths of any kind.

Still… there was one development on Thursday night that was even more surprising than the lack of a crazy finale from Shonda Rhimes:

Sara Ramirez has left the series.

This is not actually a significant shock to anyone who follows the actress on Twitter.

In late April, Ramirez Tweeted her gratitude for having played the role of Callie Torres for 10 seasons, writing on Twitter:

“That’s a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy #ThankYou all for an enriching & unforgettable #Rollercoaster ride!”

With Ramirez’s contract due to expire this summer, many believed this was either a negotiating ploy for a better deal or a fond farewell.

Following the conclusion of Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 last night, we know now it to have been the latter.

“I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now, I’m taking some welcome time off,” Ramirez said in a statement.

“[Series creator] Shonda [Rhimes has] been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations.

“I send my love to Ellen [Pompeo], the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!”

Callie did at least get a satisfying ending.

After weeks of fighting with Arizona over the custody of their daughter, she was surprised when her ex-wife decided that they could work out an arrangement that would enable Callie to move to New York and still see Sophia on a semi-regular basis.

Ramirez becomes just the latest key Grey’s Anatomy cast member to leave the show, but she does so under far less acrimonious circumstances than Katherine Heigl, Isaiah Washington or Patrick Dempsey.

The latter’s beloved McDreamy was hit by a truck and killed off last season.

Wrote Rhimes in a glowing statement of her own:

“Dr. Callie Torres came into our lives dancing it out in her underwear almost a decade ago, and I could not be happier or more proud of her journey.

“Sara Ramirez’s performance inspired me as well as millions of fans each week. We wish her the best on her well-deserved time off. I will miss Callie tremendously but am excited for what the future holds for Sara.

“She will always have a home at Shondaland.”

Sara Ramirez Hints at Grey"s Anatomy Departure

Is Grey’s Anatomy about to lose another core cast member?

We may be reading too much into a single Tweet (we are a celebrity gossip site, though, that’s sort of what we do), but Sara Ramirez has left fans of this drama buzzing via the following message she wrote on Thursday night:

That’s a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy #ThankYou all for an enriching & unforgettable #Rollercoaster ride!

She could definitely just be referring to the end of filming on Grey’s Anatomy Season 12.

But her contract is up in June and Grey’s Anatomy is known for losing series regulars, especially in recent years.

Sandra Oh departed the series after Season 10, taking her character to an entirely different country in order to head up the wing of a hospital.

Then, last season, Shonda Rhimes and company killed off Patrick Dempsey’s Derek Shepherd in a move that still has folks buzzing… including Ellen Pompeo.

What other hints are there that Ramirez could be next?

Her character of Callie is involved in a storyline that finds her fighting for custody of her daughter with ex-wife, Arizona.

This is because Callie wants to move to New York with her new girlfriend, which gives the show a very easy to way write Callie out.

Neither Ramirez nor any ABC rep has responded to requests for confirmation of the star’s departure or of her sticking around.

Since typing the aforementioned mysterious Tweet, Ramirez has simply written “”#TGIT #BuckleUp for the ride! #GreysAnatomy” on her social media account.

Folks who watch Grey’s Anatomy online have seen the actress on their screens since Season 2, while she was made a series regular in Season 3.

Several longtime cast members, meanwhile, have contract that also expire this summer, although ABC has already renewed Grey’s Anatomy for Season 13.

Set in a hospital, it’s the sort of series that can easily bring in new doctors and characters when the situation calls for it, making it similar to ER, a drama that ran for approximately 49 seasons.

In other words: no matter what happens with Sara Ramirez, Grey’s Anatomy will be on the air for as long as Shonda Rhimes wants it to be.
