Deborah Ramirez: Second Woman Accuses Brett Kavanaugh of Sexual Misconduct
Deborah Ramirez, a former Yale classmate of Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, has come out and accused the embattled judge of sexual misconduct.
She’s the second woman in about a week to have done so.
In an explosive article penned by Ronan Farrow (the reporter who exposed allegedly heinous sex-related crimes by Harvey Weinstein and Les Moonves) and investigative journalist Jane Mayer, Ramirez says Kavanaugh exposed his penis to her during a party their freshman year of college.
The 53-year old admits to having been very drunk at this dorm gathering, but that Kavanaugh “caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”
She says he then laughed at the incident, which allegedly took place at some point in 1983 or 1984.
Farrow and Mayer write that Ramirez was initially hesitant to come forward due to “gaps in her memory” as a result of the alcohol consumption that night. However…
“After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”
This is what Ramirez says about what transpired:
“I wasn’t going to touch a penis until I was married [because] I was raised a devout Catholic in Connecticut… I was embarrassed and ashamed and humiliated.”
Describing her memory of Kavanaugh’s act and subequent reaction, Ramirez told the magazine:
“I can still see his face, and his hips coming forward, like when you pull up your pants.”
The aspiring Supreme Court Justice, who is currently scheduled to testify in from of Senators on Thursday morning in response to an attempted rape allegation by Christine Blasey Ford, has issued the following statement:
This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen.
The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple.
I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name — and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building — against these last-minute allegations.
And then there’s this from White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec:
This 35-year-old, uncorroborated claim is the latest in a coordinated smear campaign by the Democrats designed to tear down a good man.
This claim is denied by all who were said to be present and is wholly inconsistent with what many women and men who knew Judge Kavanaugh at the time in college say.
The White House stands firmly behind Judge Kavanaugh.
Sources say President Donald Trump has no intention on asking Kavanaugh to withdraw his name from consideration, while Senator Diane Feinstein has called for a delay of all hearings and testimonies until the FBI can investigate both allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh.
According to The New Yorker article, “Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaugh’s nomination.
“Soon after, Senate Republicans issued renewed calls to accelerate the timing of a committee vote.”
A roommate of Kavanaugh’s in college tells the publication that he may not have been present at this Yale party in question — but that he is “100 percent” sure that Kavanaugh would have done something like this during his time at Yale.
The judge was part of a fraternity (Delta Kappa Epsilon)back then that whose members waved a flag made of women’s underwear around campus during his time as a brother.
The Yale Daily News has also noted that Kavanaugh became a member of Truth and Courage, one of Yale’s secret societies for seniors that was nicknamed “Tit and Clit.”
In 2015, referring to his high school, he said in a speech that “what happens at Georgetown Prep stays at Georgetown Prep and that’s been a good thing for all of us, I think.”
This may not be the case after all, however.
“I would think an FBI investigation would be warranted,” Ramirez told The New Yorker of her claims.
Ford has also encouraged the FBI to look into her allegations against Kavanaugh.
Neither Republican Senators nor President Trump have given the agency a green light to do so, however.

Les Moonves, CBS CEO, Accused of Sexual Misconduct
One of the most powerful men in the entire entertainment industry is facing accusations of sexual misconduct.
According to an article in The New Yorker by Ronan Farrow, the 68-year-old allegedly kissed and touched women without their consent, on multiple occasions.
The damaging expose touches on incidents that go back 20 years in some cases, while also delving into broader cultural issues at CBS.
Moonves has worked as the chairman of this network since February of 2016.
Said the company in a statement shortly after news of Moonves’ alleged misdeeds went public:
All allegations of personal misconduct are to be taken seriously.
The Independent Directors of CBS have committed to investigating claims that violate the Company’s clear policies in that regard.
Upon the conclusion of that investigation, which involves recently reported allegations that go back several decades, the Board will promptly review the findings and take appropriate action.
It added in this statement:
The timing of this report comes in the midst of the Company’s very public legal dispute. While that litigation process continues, the CBS management team has the full support of the independent board members.
Along with that team, we will continue to focus on creating value for our shareowners.
Moonves has been married to CBS talk show host Julie Chen since 2004.
After filling a number of executive positions at CBS beginning in 1995, he served as co-president and co-CEO of CBS Corporation predecessor Viacom, Inc., from 2004 until the company split at the end of 2005.
Just over two years ago, he replaced Sumner M. Redstone as the head of the network.
Farrow, meanwhile, is the same reporter who recently won a Pulitzer Prize for his scathing story on Harvey Weinstein.
He wrote in extreme detail about how the veteran movie producer would allegedly abuse and assault an endless array of women over the many decades he worked in Hollywood.
As chairman and CEO of CBS Corporation, Moonves oversees all operations, including the CBS Television Network, Showtime, The CW, CBS Television Studios and CBS Interactive.
As part of his legacy, the network has been the most-watched network for 10 straight seasons and 15 out of the past 16 years.
He is yet to comment on these allegations.
But Moonves is merely the latest major name in this industry to be accused of sexual misconduct, as women across the nation respond to the #MeToo movement by gaining the confidence needed to speak out against their abusers.
Good for them, we say.
And if any of the allegations against Moonves are true, then very very very very bad for him.

Chris Hardwick: Ousted from Nerdist Amist Sexual Misconduct Charges
We hate to say it, but…
Yep, him too.
In the wake of horrifying accusations against Chris Hardwick, Nerdist Industries – the content company founded this television host and personality – has severed all ties with the comedian.
The breaking news comes about one day after actress Chloe Dykstra accused an ex-boyfriend (who she did not name, yet who everyone assumed to be Hardwick) of abhorrent behavior during her time dating him.
“Chris Hardwick had no operational involvement with Nerdist for the two years preceding the expiration of his contract in December 2017,” said the company via statement on Friday, adding:
“He no longer has any affiliation with Legendary Digital Networks.
“The company has removed all reference to Mr. Hardwick even as the original Founder of Nerdist pending further investigation.”
Nerdist also posted the following message on Twitter, which aims to assist those who have been a victim of abuse.
In an essay written on Medium titled “Rose-Colored Glasses: A Confession,” Chloe Dykstra, a 29-year old actress who is the daughter of an ex-baseball player, outlined an allegedly abusive relationship with an unnamed ex-boyfriend that she endured in her early ’20s.
During this romance, Dykstra claims she suffered “long-term abuse,” sexual assault and career blacklisting.
Early in this relationship, Dykstra (pictured below) alleged that there were “rules” established by her lover that she had to follow, including reserving her nights for him… not having close male friends… not drinking alcohol … and not talking in public places out of fear people were listening due to his celebrity.
She wrote in this essay that, after the two started dating, she once turned down sex because she wasn’t feeling well.
Simple and understandable, right?
Not to this man.
“He responded, ‘I just want to remind you, the reason my last relationship didn’t work out was because of the lack of sex.’ It was a veiled threat. I succumbed,” she wrote, expounding:
“Every night, I laid there for him, occasionally in tears. He called it ‘starfishing.’ He thought the whole idea was funny.”
Totally and completely disgusting.
Again, Dykstra did not name Hardwick.
However, she Liked the Tweet of an Internet user who linked to her her story with the caption, “Chris Hardwick is trash.”
In her essay, the actress also explains that she was referring to a man nearly 20 years older who went from “a podcaster to a powerhouse CEO of his own company.”
This is a picture of Hardwick with Dykstra:
“I made the choice to accept his controlling behavior, as he’d just left his long-term girlfriend and I assumed that he was going through some serious emotional discomfort,” she wrote.
“This was a huge mistake.”
Dykstra wrote about that she pondered suicide multiple times and had reached the lowest point in her life when she was looking over the 101 freeway while standing on an overpass.
After three years, she ultimately left Hardwick for someone else.
In response, she claimed this boyfriend contacted companies she worked with to get her fired by threatening to never work with them.
Moreover, she said an unnamed woman she had trusted helped destroy her friendships.
At 25 years old, Dykstra said she was blacklisted.
Chloe ended her post by saying she is now in a “much better place” and:
“This story, post, whatever this is, serves as both closure for me as I say farewell to my twenties and stumble my way into my thirties, and it serves as a warning for every single one of you, regardless of gender…
“Please, please, keep an eye out for those red flags.”
Hardwick has not yet responded to this story.
He’s the latest in a long line of celebrities to be accused of sexual harassment, assault or misconduct.
We’ve listed many of them below:

Nev Schulman Accuser Files Police Report Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct
Back in may, Catfish host Nev Schulman was accused of sexual misconduct.
The woman who brought forward her #MeToo story had appeared on the show, and says that she worried that he might do the same with other women.
Now, she has revealed that she filed her report about the alleged incident with the police.
Ayissha Morgan tells The Blast that she officially filed two police reports related to her allegations of sexual misconduct that she leveled towards Nev Schulman.
She says that both reports were filed on May 25.
The reports, filed with the Houston Police Department, were made “for what happened during my participation on the show.”
She accuses a production assistant of having plied her with alcohol in order to take advantage of her.
She also accuses Schulman, the host of Catfish, of having sexually harassed her.
(Though sexual harassment is never okay, it is important to note that Ayissha is openly gay, which adds another upsetting layer to the alleged harassment)
Speaking to The Blast, Ayissha explains what that process of speaking to the police was like.
“I have provided them with my statement and detailed accounts of what I went through.”
She has a general message for readers who are curious about her life — from her appearance on Catfish a few years ago and from her new accusations.
“I ask that you please respect my privacy moving forward.”
Of course.
She does not want to answer any more particular questions, in case it interfere with the police as they look into the matter.
“And allow those who are handling the investigation do so without interference.”
Of course. Investigators prefer to be the only ones asking questions.
When Ayissha published her accusations, she did so with a great deal of thought, and included a note, writing:
“I don’t want attention or money.”
So many accuse the accusers of hoping to somehow turn their accusations into fame and fortune, even though most of what accusers face is ridicule.
“Help me spread awareness.”
She admits that she feels tormented by the idea that Schulman may have harassed other women while she has remained silent.
“This is a serious topic that I would never lie about.”
Allegations of sexual misconduct is about as serious as it gets.
“That would be disgusting for me to lie about something as serious as this. Please understand.”
Schulman is said to have repeatedly verbally harassed Ayissha while the two were not on camera.
At one point, he allegedly told her:
“I have a big d–k. I would tear your a– up.”
There are situations in which that is an okay thing to say to a person. When you are a TV host and your guest is very much not interested is not one of those times.
Nev Schulman has denied the allegations.
MTV is making sure that Catfish does not have any further incidents by suspending production on the current season.
It is always smart to play it safe for many reasons, in terms of ethics, public image, and even potential liability issues.
Unfortunately, sexual misconduct is both extremely difficult to prove or disprove.
Ayissha Morgan may need to find a corroborating witness — perhaps she already has one — or at least an outcry witness in order for police to be able to build a case from her report.

Nev Schulman, Host of MTV"s Catfish, Accused of Sexual Misconduct
Yup, him too.
On Thursday afternoon, MTV announced that it has suspended production on the reality series Catfish due to troubling allegations against host Nev Schulman.
The details behind these allegations are unknown at this time, but this is what the cable network said to The Daily Beast in a statement:
“We take these allegations very seriously. We’re working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation.”
Schulman, who also serves as executive producer on Catfish, has been the main man in front of the camera since the program’s debut in 2012.
Now in its seventh season, Catfish centers on Schulman’s investigations into online relationships, as he tries to verify whether people are who they actually say they are on the Internet.
It is based on a 2010 documentary of the same name that was also created by Schulman.
In the film, Schulman chronicles how he fell in love with a woman he met online, but was left heartbroken upon learning all the ways in which she misrepresented herself throughout their exchanges.
On the MTV show, he and filmmaking partner Max Joseph set out to assist others who may be in a similar predicament.
The series has become so popular that the term “Catfished” is now used in any situation that involves one side of an online relationship lying about his or her identity to the other side.
(Sister Wives star Meri Brown, for example, was the victim of a catfishing in 2016.)
Schulman is 33 years old and is married to Laura Perlongo.
The couple are parents to a 17-month old girl named Cleo and co-host a web series, “We Need to Talk,” for ATTN.
“It’s basically a show about relationships,” Nev told Us Weekly last year, adding:
“What do you do when you do find it and you want to keep it? You gotta work through some sh-t.
“This is a show that’s honest and sometimes a little embarrassing, but it’s real and it’s about the things that come up when you’re a couple.”
In response to the allegations against him, Schulman has said the following to The Daily Beast:
“I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions – but these claims are false.”
Over the past several months, of course, more and more women have felt empowered by what has been dubbed the #MeToo movement.
They have come out with accusations against such stars as Matt Lauer, Louis C.K., Charlie Rose and movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
It’s very possible that none of these men ever work in Hollywood again.
And while it’s too early to say for certain, it’s now possible that the same will apply for Nen Schulman.

Tom Brokaw Blasts Sexual Misconduct Accuser: This Is An Ambush!
Former NBC staffers have accused Tom Brokaw of sexual misconduct, and he has admitted that he acted inappropriately, but says that it did not rise to the level described.
Now, he sent out a mass email to a number of colleagues, in which he takes a much harsher tone towards the accusations and one of the women who made them.
That email has been obtained and published for all to see.
In a lengthy email to his colleagues that has been obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Brokaw denounces the allegations against him.
“It is 4:00 am on the first day of my new life as an accused predator in the universe of American journalism.”
It’s off to a very melodramatic start.
“I was ambushed and then perp walked across the pages of The Washington Post and Variety as an avatar of male misogyny.”
If you think that this hyperbole is a bit much, just wait for this next line.
“Taken to the guillotine and stripped of any honor and achievement I had earned in more than a half century of journalism and citizenship.”
After the hyperbole train comes to a near-stop, he suggests that he knows the motives of Linda Vester, the woman identified by name in the article.
“I am facing a long list of grievances from a former colleague who left NBC News angry that she had failed in her pursuit of stardom.”
He then drops that he’s responsible for her career.
“She has unleashed a torrent of unsubstantiated criticism and attacks on me more than twenty years after I opened the door for her and a new job at Fox news.”
Brokaw seems bewildered that these accusations against him were in print.
“Linda Vester was given the run of the Washington Post and Variety to vent her grievances.”
He then characterizes the accusations against him:
“To complain that I tickled her without permission (you read that right), that I invaded her hotel room, accepted an invitation to her apartment under false pretenses. …”
He sees these accusations as a personal attack.
“And in general was given a free hand to try to destroy all that I have achieved with my family, my NBC career, my writing and my citizenship.”
He says that, essentially, everyone is on his side.
“My NBC colleagues are bewildered that Vester, who had limited success at NBC News, a modest career at Fox and a reputation as a colleague who had trouble with the truth, was suddenly the keeper of the flame of journalistic integrity.”
It sounds like he’s trying to say that she is not trustworthy or truthful. One wonders if he will also say the same about his other accuser if she is named, and about any others who might speak up.
“Her big charge: that on two occasions more than 20 years ago I made inappropriate and uninvited appearances in her apartment and in a hotel room.”
“As an eager beginner, Vester, like others in that category, was eager for advice and camaraderie with senior colleagues. She often sought me out for informal meetings, including the one she describes in her New York hotel room.”
In her accusations, he called her and informed her that she was coming over — after having been turned down when he asked her out for a drink.
“I should not have gone but I emphatically did not verbally and physically attack her and suggest an affair in language right out of pulp fiction.”
She said that he tried to kiss her against her will, which is something that clearly has stuck with her for a long time.
“She was coy, not frightened, filled with office gossip, including a recent rumor of an affair.”
So … they were talking.
“As that discussion advanced she often reminded me she was a Catholic and that she was uncomfortable with my presence. So I left,”
He says that he’s now shocked that she was upset by the visit.
“23 years later, to be stunned by her melodramatic description of the meeting.”
Interesting to hear the guy who just described being guillotined accuse someone else of being melodramatic.
“As I got up to leave I may have leaned over for a perfunctory goodnight kiss, but my memory is that it happened at the door – on the cheek.”
Brokaw says that her description of that kiss was not as she described.
“No clenching her neck. That move she so vividly describes is NOT WHO I AM. Not in high school, college or thereafter.”
Brokaw also says that she left out some details.
“Here is a part of her story she somehow left out. I think I saw her in the hallways and asked how it was going.”
He says that he offered her career advice.
“She was interested in cable start up [sic] and I said I didn’t think that was going anywhere. What about Fox, which was just building up?”
He says that he then made that connection happen.
“She was interested and followed me to my office where, while she listened in, I called Roger Ailes. He said, ‘send her over."”
He then accuses her of hypocrisy by having never said anything publicly about Ailes after he was accused of sexual harassment and forced to resign.
Again, he reiterates that he does not like that the accusations against him were published, as she believes that this woman is biased.
“I am stunned by the free ride given a woman with a grudge against NBC News, no distinctive credentials or issue passions while at FOX.”
He believes that she was accusing him out of a desire for attention, which is a fairly common deflection from people accused of misdeeds.
“Strip away all of the hyperbole and what has she achieved? What was her goal? Hard to believe it wasn’t much more Look At Me than Me:Too.”
Sometimes, it’s difficult to know a person’s true character until you see how they respond to adversity.
And this scathing letter is how Brokaw has responded.
Tom Brokaw Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Former NBC Staffers
The #MeToo Movement may have nailed another reporter.
Months after Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose each saw his careers come to an end due to some damning allegations, Tom Brokaw has now been accused of sexual misconduct.
The veteran journalist and former host of the NBC Nightly News faces claims from a pair of ex-co-workers, both from incidents that allegedly took place in the 1990s.
First, per The Washington Post, comes a detailed account from Linda Vester.
She says that, while working as a reporter for NBC on “Weekend Today” in 1994, Brokaw once asked her to have a drink with him.
She responded “I only drink milk and cookies” at the time.
Hours later, however, Vester tells the aforementioned newspaper that Brokaw called her New York City hotel room around 3 a.m. and told her to order the milk and cookies … because he was coming over.
When Brokaw arrived at her door, he tried to kiss her, Vester claims, jerking her head in his direction.
But she resisted.
Vester also says Brokaw grabbed her from behind and tickled her waist in front of her colleagues in Denver, Colorado.
The Washington Post also published an allegation from a second woman, who asked to remain anonymous, claiming that Brokaw acted inappropriately toward her around this same time.
This woman worked as a production assistance at NBC News when she alleges Brokaw took her hands and put them under his jacket against his chest.
He then invited her to his office, insinuating he wanted the pair to engaged in some kind of sexual activity.
She says she left the network to go work someplace else after these events occurred.
Both women say they did not report the allegations when they transpired out of fear of Brokaw’s power at the network and how he could bring down their careers.
Brokaw has been married since 1992 and has five children.
This is what he said in reply to Vester’s claims:
I met with Linda Vester on two occasions, both at her request, 23 years ago because she wanted advice with respect to her career at NBC.
The meetings were brief, cordial and appropriate, and despite Linda’s allegations, I made no romantic overtures towards her at that time or any other.
He also denied acting in the sort of manner described by the second woman above.
Back in November, Lauer was fired from the Today Show for what the network called “inappropriate workplace behavior.”
He actually just spoke out again on Thursday, acknowledging in a statement that he has “acted inappropriately,” but denying “any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions.”
NBC itself is yet to respond to this story about Brokaw, or to a larger story run by The Post that outlines a lack of institutional control when it comes to sexual harassment.
Brokaw works as a contributor at the network.
We’ll keep readers apprised of more news regarding these allegations against Brokaw when or if it breaks.
