Jeremy Vuolo Accused of Cultural Appropriation by His Own Fans
As much as we enjoy photos of Jinger Duggar’s family, this latest photo was weird … and controversial.
Jeremy Vuolo shared a strange image of him with baby Felicity and a Native American tipi.
Followers are accusing him of cultural appropriation.
Jeremy Vuolo shared a curious picture on Instagram.
In the snap, he is holding baby Felicity while being obscured by what looks like fog.
Before them is a miniature tipi (also spelled teepee).
“Time for reflection,” Jeremy captioned the post, as if that explained anything.
It’s unclear if he is referring to the presence of a mirror in the photo.
He may have instead meant, on a more serious note, that he’s reflecting upon Native American culture.
Some fans were confused.
“What is this supposed to mean?” one commenter asks.
Others are worried that he’s misusing another culture’s symbols and traditions.
“If there is a deeper meaning behind this post please do share,” another commenter implores.
“If not,” they continue. “Please know that taking elements of another culture (especially one that has been as mistreated as Native Americans).”
That commenter concludes: “and using them flippantly for your own artistic design is completely inappropriate.”
Followers continued to try to figure out what Jeremy’s post was all about.
“I googled it, guys,” one commenter shares. “And some places are saying November is Native American month.”
“Perhaps as ‘Thanksgiving’ comes it’s a moment to reflect on the atrocities inflicted on the first nations people,” another suggested.
That would be very seasonally appropriate, folks. But others were concerned.
“It’s fairly regularly accepted that cultural appropriation is insensitive,” writes another.
“Benefitting from someone else’s culture,” another writes, is “not OK.”
Some jumped to some very different conclusions about Jeremy’s post.
“Why teepee?” one asked bluntly. “Are you racist too?”
Another jumped to a conclusion on the opposite end of the spectrum.
“Are you Native American?” one asked.
“Hard to understand the meaning of the pic,” another noted. “I am Apache though, so if you are that’s great.”
The Apache nation is not known for tipis.
Tipis are sometimes mistakenly attributed to all Native Americans, but were and are in fact unique to people of the Plains region of North America.
(Tipis are still used for some ceremonies, if no longer used for dwellings)
Native American cultures in other regions used different types of dwellings, including elaborate structures.
It’s understandable that people would be on their guard about Native American cultural heritage being misused by white people.
But one follower commented that this is not what is happening.
“Ya’ll, he is in Oklahoma at a Native American history museum,” the commenter writes. “Chill!!!!”
Tipis are often the subject of misunderstanding.
While tipis are conceptually similar to the European lavvu, they are part of a few Native American cultures and are not for anyone else to misuse.
The Native American cultural heritage more likely to be misused are things like war bonnets and terms like “spirit animal.”
But it doesn’t look like Jeremy Vuolo is doing any of that.
We’re happy to call out cultural appropriation or other wrongdoings when we see it. But that’s not what was happening here.
With context, we see that he was practicising cultural appreciation in a museum.
Let’s save our outrage for the people and actions that deserve it.

Meghan Markle Accused of Making "Worst Curtsy" in Recorded History
Meghan Markle played a lawyer on the USA Network hit drama Suits.
But criticism continues to pour in regarding the Duchess of Sussex, most notably that she simply cannot play the role of a Royal with the proper respect it deserves.
Over the past several weeks, sources have come down hard on Markle for snubbing various Palace traditions, typically ones associated with fashion and decorum.
And now it seems as if certain people are also taking issue with the way Markle is acting overseas.
The expecting mother and Prince Harry have mostly been receiving rave reviews for their behavior on their ongoing tour — but Markle is coming under fire at the moment for how she greeted Tonga’s King Tupou VI and his wife Queen Nanasipau’u last week.
Specifically, how weakly sue curtsied on front of the powerful couple.
Here is a still shot of the bow in question:
Did Markle get down low enough?
Did she hold her form for long enough?
Did her facial expression make it clear she just wasn’t that into the gesture?
All of the above, Twitter users appear to be saying. Here is a sampling of their most harsh responses to Markle’s lame curtsy:
Those were the two worst curtsies I think I’ve ever seen!
I wonder if maybe she wasn’t sure if she should curtsy? Either way, you gotta commit.
I saw this video on Instagram. Gives the impression she did not know if she should curtsy or not.
That seems plausible, right? It can be tricky to remember all the customs of various nations, especially for someone not raised in such an environment.
In case you somehow haven’t heard, Markle is pregnant.
So it’s also possible that she only gently curtsied in order to protect her fetus.
We really can’t say for certain at the moment.
However, a so-called etiquette expert named William Hanson told The Daily Mail that Markle has a lot to learn about how a Royal should act overall.
He says she sticks her hands into her pockets on far too many occasions.
“We know that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pioneering a new, relaxed, tactile branch of monarchy, but having hands in the pocket is a step too far,” this random critic says, adding:
“There is good casual and there is bad casual.
“Placing a hands in the pocket is too relaxed and unprofessional.”
Markle, of course, is no stranger to criticism.
Just ask her awful half-sister.
We doubt she’ll respond to the backlash she is garnering here, especially because Hanson admits that her actions aren’t actually a big deal.
Not in the grand scheme of life, that is.
“Will the world end? No,” he concludes to The Mail. “It is just a small blip in Meghan’s usually delightful manners that can be easily corrected for future engagements.”

Jinger Duggar: Accused of Cultural Appropriation Over Felicity"s Head Wrap
Just a couple of weeks ago, Jinger Duggar was mom-shamed for making her baby wear gloves, which fans believe will hinder Felicity’s motor development.
This time, however, they’re getting parent-shamed for something else.
Are Jinger and Jeremy guilty of cultural appropriation?
Felicity and Jeremy shared this sweet photo on Instagram.
The parents captioned it: “Took Felicity out to the @cubs game.”
Felicity’s hands are once again entombed within mittens, which her parents put on her to keep her from scratching her face with her sharp nails.
That was not the primary focus of the mom-shamers this time.
This time, the concern is over a couple of things — first and foremost, that head wrap. Is it cultural appropriation?
“This is racism,” wrote one commenter very bluntly.
Another wrote that putting Felicity in the hair wrap was a “microaggression.”
A microaggression, folks, is a subtle jab against marginalized people that they experience every day.
(Like asking an American of Asian descent where they’re from, and not being satisfied with an answer like “Virginia”)
Some also shamed the parents for taking Felicity to a loud public space, but that took a backseat to the head wrap.
(Here is Khloe’s daughter, True Thompson, for comparison, since a fan brought it up)
When one fan asked why it’s okay for Khloe Kardashian’s baby True to wear one, another fan explained.
“The difference is,” the other fan wrote of Khloe. “Her baby is African American and entitled to wear one.”
Another just thought that it wasn’t fashionable, and wrote: “I really think a French beret is more baby appropriate and fashionable.”
It looks plenty stylish, but the appropriateness of it is in question.
Some fans rose to Jinger and Jeremy’s defense.
“Women of many cultures wear head wraps,” wrote one. “There nothing specifically African-American about it.”
That same commenter even cites an example: “Rosie the Riveter had a head wrap.”
“I think the baby looks adorable,” another writes. “Nothing to do with race. chill out people.”
“I hope you do not listen to these negative people,” that fan continues. “What is the problem that head was cover and she looks great.”
“They are not the problem you are reading into it more than needed,” the commenter claims. “Fashion is for everyone.”
Cultural appropriation is a complex subject, in part because a lot of people don’t realize when they’re doing it.
What’s more is that there can be real debate, even within marginalized communities, over what is and is not appropriation.
African head wraps are from sub-saharan Africa and predate the horrors of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
In fact, head wraps were one of the few cultural symbols that African slaves were able to take with them to the Caribbean and to North America.
Unfortunately, some slave owners would force slaves to wear head wraps, which turned this cultural symbol into a symbol of oppression.
It is only in relatively recent decades that the natural hair movement has begun to reclaim the head wrap for black women in America.
As we said, this is such a complex subject. We are certainly not qualified to be the arbiters of what is and is not appropriation.
We will say that it’s definitely true that multiple cultures have used head wraps.
We tend to believe that claiming something as one’s own — for example, having a bunch of mostly white runway models wear hair wraps — would be appropriation.
Putting a baby in a stylish hair wrap, on the other hand? That seems a lot more benign.
Quite frankly, it’s kind of nice to think that any members of the Duggar family are willing to learn from any other cultures.

Thomas Ravenel Accused of Naked Assault on Ex-Nanny
We have an update on Tuesday’s arrest of former Southern Charm lead Thomas Ravenel.
And it’s a very ugly update.
The ex-Bravo star was taken into custody this morning on charges of second degree assault and battery.
At the time of the arrest, we were uncertain just why Ravenel had been booked by Charleston police, but we’ve now learned the a warrant had been issued regarding an alleged incident in 2015.
We’ve actually reported on this incident previously.
Back in May, a former nanny named Dawn accused Ravenel of attempted rape, outlining for People Magazine the way in which Ravenel forced himself on her in his bedroom… while his infant daughter slept just feet away next door.
According to the official arrest affidavit, the attack took place inside Ravenel’s home on Charlotte Street in Charleston.
“While inside the location, the defendant undressed and made sexual advances on the victim,” this legal document reads.
It continues:
“The defendant grabbed the victim’s hand and placed it on his penis before attempting to removed the victim’s clothing.
“While attempting to remove the victim’s clothing, the victim’s underwire bra cut into her skin and her shirt wrapped around her neck, which caused the victim to struggle to breathe.”
The affadavit goes on, in lurid detail, stating that Ravenel then “pulled down the victim’s pants and said ‘Show me your pussy."”
He then “began grabbing the victim’s vagina.”
As a result, the nanny “crouched down to the ground to try and prevent further assault [and] the defendant then put his penis in her face and asked, ‘Do you like big dicks?’”
For the record, before we go any further, the victim is NOT named in the document.
We are just making an assumption that she is the same nanny who, as cited above, reported a very similar crime had taken place at her expense.
After escaping the assault, the woman called her ex-husband and sister and told them of the inciden… fled the scene … and notified several family members of the incident,” the affidavit states.
“Photographs were then taken immediately of the injures to her neck and chest.”
Earlier that month, another woman named Ashley Perkins alleged that Ravenel sexually assaulted her mother, Debbie Holloway Perkins, after the two went on a date and then ended up back at Ravenel’s home.
The star’s lawyer denied the allegations made by Perkins at the time.
The Charleston police department has said that Ravenel surrendered himself to authorities just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Bravo, meanwhile, confirmed to the press that the former politician, who has been featured on Southern Charm since season 1 in 2014, would not return for season 6.
Ravenel previously announced he was done with the show in August, claiming he was a victim of editing and and actually writing:
In the contract they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back.
This guy sucks.

Lena Dunham Accused of Sending Unsolicited Vadge Pics to Jack Antonoff
It’s been a while since Lena Dunham has done anything to warrant the attention of us slavering hellhounds in the gossip-sphere.
It could have to do with the fact that she’s adopted a more low-key lifestyle these days and turned her attention to, in her words, “pursuing slow meaningful spiritual progress.”
Of course, it’s equally possible that we all simultaneously decided to stop regularly checking her social media accounts for any number of valid reasons.
(Public interest in her personal life has been on the decline ever since Girls ended; she seems to google herself constantly despite being cursed with very thin skin; Lena-related gossip frequently centers around “hard pass” subject matter like vaginas crammed full of pebbles, etc.)
Whatever the case, there’s less Lena in your life these days, and we don’t need a focus group to know that you’re probably okay with that.
But the never-reliable Star magazine decided to dip its toe back in the Lena pond this week, and despite the high probability that this story is total BS (again, Star magazine) we decided it’s amusing enough to share with you.
As you may recall, back in January, Lena and Jack Antonoff broke up after six years of dating.
By all accounts, the split was mutual and amicable, but it seems Lena misses more about the relationship than just quipping “I hope you bought Anton a drink first!” every time someone said her boyfriend’s full name.
An “insider” tells Star that Lena is still hung up on Jack in a big way, and her obsession is beginning to take a toll on his new relationship.
“She calls Jack at least five times a day, all in the name of ‘friendship’ – and she always talks to him right before she goes to bed,” says the anonymous friend.
“She’ll text him photos of her private parts at like 1 a.m. At that point, he just turns the phone off.”
Not surprisingly, the source also claims that Jack’s new girlfriend, Carlotta Kohl, is less than thrilled with the situation.
“Half the time she spent with him, he was on the phone with his ex!” says the tipster of a recent date between Jack and Carlotta.
We figure September is a good time to get around to our New Year’s resolution of trying something new every day, so we’re actually gonna defend Lena instead of making a bunch of easy jokes at her expense.
Here goes nothing:
Lena Dunham is probably not sending unsolicited vadge pics to her ex-boyfriend, and the only way this source could sound more made-up is if it called the situation “steamy,” or used some other word that’s only ever been used by tabloid writers.
Now if you’ll excuse us, this small act of decency has made us feel all out of sorts.
We’re gonna go kick a puppy or vote Republican or something to balance ourselves out.

J.D. Madison, Southern Charm Star, Also Accused of Sexual Assault
J.D. Madison and Thomas Ravenel now have something in common.
But it’s not friendship and it’s not a role on Bravo reality series Southern Charm.
It’s the fact that each has been accused of sexual assault.
We’ve documented in the past how Ravenel has been accused of raping both a nanny and a woman with whom he went on a date a couple years ago.
The lead Southern Charm cast member has since announced that he will not be returning for Season 6.
Now, People Magazine has confirmed that an incident report was filed in August 25 with the Mount Pleasant Police Department against South Carolina businessman Madison, who is pretty tight with Ravenel.
He’s appeared multiple times on Southern Charm as a result.
According to legal documents, allegations of rape, sexual assault and involuntary drugging have been leveled against Madison by a South Carolina female, whose name was redacted by authorities.
The details are pretty disgusting.
The alleged victim told police that the incident in question took place on August 21, 2017.
She says that she was with Madison, his male friend and another female friend at her house for a drink prior to heading out to a local bar.
While there, she alleges that Madison intentionally broke a glass – and, as she cleaned it up, Madison “slipped a drug” in her already-poured beverage on the counter.
The victim says that, after finishing the drink, she fell in and out of consciousness.
Later, in the early hours of August 22, the woman says she awoke in the guest bedroom of her home where Madison was “forcibly raping and sodomizing her.”
The attack supposedly stopped after Madison received a phone call from his wife.
Then there’s this addendum to the story:
FITSNews has identified the male with Madison and the alleged victim that night as Jay Schwartz, a local chiropractor.
He was arrested on drug charges this same evening.
Mount Pleasant are reportedly investigating these charges, while Bravo is yet to issue a comment.
The allegations against Madison come three months after allegations of sexual assault were brought against Ravenel by “Nanny Dawn,” who was featured Southern Charm caring for Ravenel’s two children with ex Kathryn Dennis.
Another unnamed woman also brought a similar charge against the Wealthy Charleston resident.
Ravenel is currently under investigation by South Carolina police.
He dropped out of the show this month admist these scandals, defiant in his statement and adamant that only Bravo producers had done anything wrong.
“I’m not doing the show anymore,” Ravenel Tweeted, adding:
“In the contract they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back.”
This guy sucks so much.
And even if J.D. Madison never faces any charges for what he’s accused of above, we feel confident in saying he sucks a lot, too.

Audrina Patridge Accused by Ex of Exploiting Daughter for The Hills!
The Hills are alive — or they’re going to be, because The Hills: New Beginnings is a real thing that is happening.
Audrina Patridge has confirmed that she will be part of the revival of the groundbreaking reality series. But her ex Corey Bohan is making demands.
He has now taken to social media to insist that their daughter have no part in the show.
Audrina and Corey split up just about one year ago, and there were upsetting reports that Corey Bohan was emotionally and even physically abusive with her, prompting her filing a restraining order.
Corey was also accused of being unable to control his behavior, including outbursts and obscenities, in the presence of their very young daughter.
But now that The Hills is making its comeback, Corey has decided that the real menace to his family is … reality television.
Corey’s Instagram is now set to private, but the good folks over at The Ashley got their hands on a message that he shared with his followers.
In his Instagram post, Corey blasts reality television as exploitative, and seems to think that merely being on camera would harm his daughter.
In white letters on a black background, Corey says that if he gets his way, his daughter will never be part of The Hills: New Beginnings.
“I refuse to think it’s ok for our 2yr old daughter Kirra Bohan to be shown & exploited on reality TV,” Corey writes.
For the record, the show has not yet begun filming, and it’s unclear whose children, if any, will appear on screen.
“Not just my child,” Corey continues. “But anyone’s for that matter.”
Most assume that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s baby will get some airtime. It looks like he’s eager to throw shade in multiple directions.
Corey’s post continues.
“I stand up for what I believe in,” Corey insists.
Though he appears to be questioning the parenting judgment of a whole lot of people, he claims that he’s not taking a shot at anyone.
Corey writes: “This post isn’t an attack or negative rant.”
“This,” Corey proclaims. “Is about our daughter Kirra Bohan.”
Contrary to what the BMX rider might fear, Audrina isn’t strutting Kirra out in front of anybody’s cameras just yet.
“They haven’t even started filming the show yet,” a source tells People.
Additionally, the insider shares that “Audrina hasn’t made any final decisions about whether Kirra will appear.”
As far as things with her ex go, Audrina “just wants things to be okay.”
That is a very understandable feeling. But we’re not sure if she’s going to get her wish.
We don’t mean to sound like we’re accusing Corey Bohan of planning ahead, but it sounds like he may be laying the groundwork for his next custody battle.
See, because of Corey’s alleged behavior towards her and around their daughter, some of which was in public, Audrina has sole custody.
Corey clearly does not like that, and he may plan to use “reality television harms children” or “she’s using our baby for cash” as an argument in court.
That is just a guess, however. We of course cannot speak with certainty of Corey’s motivations or intentions.
It may be that he just wanted to lash out online.

Zach Roloff Gets Accused of Endangering His Son
Irritating, cruel and judgmental people on the Internet are on the attack once again.
And this time, Zach Roloff is the target.
As part of his recent visit to his mother’s native state of Michigan, Zach shared an adorable photo of his son on Instagram this week.
It featured Jackson sitting peacefully on his own on the beach, chilling in front of the water, seemingly contemplating life and all that lies in front of him.
At least that’s how we interpreted this image.
Who would look at this snapshot and think it was anything but precious, cute and even artistic?
The sad answer? A large number of people on the World Wide Web.
“Kind of too close to the water for that baby by himself,” one idiotic person wrote as a comment to the photo.
“I hope someone was closer by,” added another moron.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time total strangers have looked at a harmless picture of Jackson and formed a harsh and critical opinion of his parents based on it.
Back in April, a handful of followers freaked out in equally dumb fashion after Roloff was photographed on a tractor, young son on his lap.
It had to eventually be clarified that the tractor was not on and that Zach, of course, had the safety of his offspring at the forefront of his mind at all times.
We hate that it needs to be said, but Zach and Tori have never given Little People, Big World fans any reason to doubt they aren’t loving and dedicated parents.
“Being a dad’s been great. Jackson’s the cutest little thing,” Zach said on an episode of his family’s reality shiw this spring, adding on air:
“I would love to have, like, a little pack. I definitely want to have more kids.”
His wife, Tori, has subsequently made it pretty clear that a second child will be on the way at some point in the near future.
“We def want to expand our family soon,” she told a social media followers who asked about her baby-making plans last month.
Thankfully, there are a bunch of level-headed folks out there who rushed to Zach’s defense after trolls tried to make him feel guilty for the Jackson back picture.
“Beautiful pic. Only a–holes would worry. These parents are on the case. Stop finding things to b– about,” one of these defenders wrote, while another remarked:
“OMG the baby is 2 feet away from his parents OH NO! PANIC!!! [Shake my head] Stop the lame comments. This kid is fine.”
And then there was this comment:
“People need to understand Zach and Tori are not going to set there and let something happen to there baby.
“Fans need to quit making things seem worse than what it is that’s how crap gets started so fan’s please keep your opinion too to your self please don’t.”
Amen.
