Ami Brown Really Does Have Cancer, Discovery Channel Confirms

An executive at the Discovery Channel has a very simple and very pointed message for certain fans of Alaskan Bush People.

And that messages goes something like this:

FOR SHAME!

Speaking to Radar Online, the network’s Executive Vice President, Laurie Goldberg, opened up for the first time this week about Ami Brown’s cancer diagnosis.

She and her loved ones admitted in July of 2017 that the long-time reality star had been diagnosed with a very serious form of lung cancer and that her prognosis was grim at best.

Since then, various members of this famous family have kept fans apprised of Ami’s status on occasion, with the latest update being an extremely sad one:

Brown has reportedly returned to the hospital.

But this doesn’t mean all hope is lost, Goldberg says:

“She is going to L.A. for a routine three month check-up but is optimistic and surrounded by nothing but love,” she also told Radar.

In this same conversation with the aforementioned celebrity gossip website, Goldberg expressed consternation that anyone out there has been doubting Ami’s diagnosis.

Do these critics really think producers and/or the Browns themselves would lie about such a thing?

“Ami’s battle with cancer is very real,” Goldberg emphasis, taking those who disbelieve her to task and adding:

“It is just disgusting that anyone would say her cancer is not real or that it was created for the show.”

We can’t entirely fault viewers for having a few questions, of course.

Reality TV in general is known for conjuring up storylines, as Jacob Roloff very recently came out and explained in a book written by this Little People, Big World star.

But still.

We’re talking about cancer here and we would never for a second wonder whether Ami and her children were actually lying about such a serious illness.

“It’s in both lungs, in the middle and sides of the lungs,” Ami’s husband, Billy Brown, said last year.

He said the cancer had been labeled as stage 3B, which is very close to the worst possible diagnosis, and continued at the time:

“It hasn’t traveled to any other organs, but that’s what they’re saying is next. Any time we talk to anybody, it’s bad news.”

Alaskan Bush People will be returning for Season 8, however, and we hear that Ami may still be part of the cast.

“The fans will get to see her journey alongside the rest of the family on the upcoming season,” Goldberg previews, adding:

“There is definitely no drama between her and anyone in the family – they love her very much and would do anything for her.”

No premiere date for Season 8 has been announced just yet.

We’ll pass it along as soon as it’s confirmed…

… and we’ll continue to send Ami our best wishes.

Caroline Sunshine: From The Disney Channel to... The White House?!?

For the past several weeks, the Donald Trump administration has been under a set of storm clouds.

(Or Stormy clouds, some might say.)

But a bit of sunshine is officially on the way, news outlets surprisingly report. Literally!

That’s because Caroline Sunshine, a former Disney Channel star, is now a member of the White House press team.

The 22-year old recently worked as an intern at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue — but she’s best known to entertainment fans for having starred opposite Zendaya as Tinka Hessenheffer in Shake It Up, a Disney Channel series about teen dancers that ran from 2010 to 2013.

She was also in the 2010 movie Marmaduke, among other roles.

Said White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters to CNN in a statement about Sunshine:

“Caroline Sunshine was a White House intern. In college, she was involved with the American Enterprise Institute and an active member of her school’s Model United Nations team.

“Prior to her internship at the White House, Caroline interned for the Office of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the College Republican National Committee and the California Republican Party.”

In other words:

It makes sense that Caroline Sunshine would currently be trending because you don’t see this sort of career transition very often…

… but make no mistake:

She has earned her spot. She has experience.

Sunshine doesn’t exactly have the ear of President Donald Trump; not yet at least.

She works as a press assistant, whose main job is to provide administrative support for the entire White House communications department.

This includes press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders (who has her own assistant), three deputy press secretaries and three assistant press secretaries.

The ex-actress is pretty far down on the administrative rung, but at least she’s starting to climb the ladder.

Here is a photo of Sunshine from her stint on the Disney Channel:

on disney

For the most part, press assistants send out White House news releases… wrangle the media, taking them from one event to another… and set up briefing calls.

Sunshine won’t have access to classified documents or anything, but she’ll play a role in making sure the White House machine continues to function everyday.

Caroline has not yet commented on her new role or on the attention she has received as a result of it.

Aside from the credits listed above, she has appeared in such films as The Outfield, Go Four Broke and Mommy, I Didn’t Do It.

Kim Kardashian Dares to Channel Jackie Kennedy in These Photos

Kim Kardashian is the First Lady of celebrity sex tapes.

This hasn’t really been a debate for years. She’ll hold that title for several decades.

But Interview Magazine steps into some controversial waters for the cover of its latest issue, labeling Kardashian as the “First Lady” of… America.

Moreover, the publication dresses Kardashian up like Jackie Kennedy, the widow of former President John F. Kennedy, who was known as one of the most graceful women of her era.

We don’t exactly recall Kennedy ever getting bent over by a D-List hip hop star on video and then agreeing to sell said video to the public in order to take in millions of dollars.

We’re just sayin.

“America’s New First Lady Kim Kardashian West and her daughter North West,” read the full text on the cover, which also includes little North all dolled up for one of her only professional photo shoots to date.

For the pictorial, Kardashian donned a white skirt suit and elbow-length gloves, styling her hair in a retro blowout bob.

The pictures were snapped Steven Klein, the same photographer who previously worked with the the mother of two on her full-frontal nude shoot for Love magazine in 2015.

“When Kim and I work together, each time we look for a different approach,” Klein told the publication, explaining:

“We have no desire to repeat ourselves or reference anything she has done previously. For this shoot I wanted to capture feminine beauty as an expression of empowerment and self-respect.

“Also, to highlight Kim in a chic manner that is retrospective of a time and yet modern.”

Ah, yes, of course.

When we look at these photos, we totally think: Now THAT’s feminine beauty as an expression of empowerment and self-respect!

To Kim’s credit, she typically does not include her kids in her professional projects.

In the accompanying interview, Kim touches on this topic of work versus motherhood.

“We have strict rules about the kids [on Keeping Up with the Kardashians].

“Some seasons they’re not on at all. Some seasons they’re on a little bit, just to show a bit of personality, although there are never story lines about them.

“But then there’s social media, on which I’ve always been really open. When I’m out and people call North’s name, that’s when it’s weird for me.

“She lives such a normal life, believe it or not, at home.”

Elsewhere in the cover story, Kardashian shuts down assertions that she’s famous without having any actual talent.

“If I’m so not talented, if I do nothing, then how is my career my reality?” she asks stupidly, failing to acknowledge the age in which we live and how social media has changed everything for celebrities.

And Kim especially bristles at the notion that she doesn’t do very much on a daily basis.

“You can say a lot of things about me, but you cannot say I don’t work hard. I don’t sing. I don’t dance. I don’t act. But I am not lazy.”

This is one point on which we can finally agree.

Kardashian does not try to be anything she is not, thank goodness.

We’ve seen plenty of Instagram and reality stars (hi, Paris Hilton!) veer outside of their lane and attempt to prove that they have some kind of skill set.

Kim is good at showing off her cleavage and letting stylists dress her up in various outfits. She knows it and she sticks to it.

Taylor Swift Channel Coming to a TV Lineup Near You!

Taylor Swift is getting her own TV channel … and it’s gonna be all Swift all the time.

See what you’ve done?

It changes TV’s mind or it gets the hose!

AT&T recently announced that Swift will have her own station called Taylor Swift Now, and will revolve around Swift’s concerts, interviews, and all that B-roll of being one of the most pursued celebs in the world today.

It was reported that the channel will be available through DirecTV’s new streaming service — if y’all recall, AT&T recently purchased DirecTV in a huge merger — and will be available alongside other channels like FX and AMC

They removed classic Doctor Who from Hulu and Netflix, and they’re giving us this instead.

What a world. What a world

As a result of the new channel — and Swift’s ever-surging popularity — it was revealed that Taylor would get her shot at this year’s Super Bowl … sort of.

Variety reported that Swift will perform at DirecTV’s pre-Super Bowl concert.

What a … joy. A treasure, really.

We’re wondering if there’s going to be any Taylor Swift twerking involved … because that’s as BTS as it gets, and was basically the pinnacle of Taylor Swift laugh-out-loud entertainment so far in 2016.

Unless you count the Tom Hiddleston/Calvin Harris drama — that was pretty funny, too.

Previously, Swift was accused of helping Drake get revenge on Rihanna, but we just don’t buy that.

Taylor might be one of the shrewdest, most calculating women in the biz, but we don’t think she’s outright evil, right?

It was reported that Swift and Drake teamed up as the ultimate “breakup couple,” and wanted to get their digs out at their exes.

“There will definitely be some digs at [Rihanna],” the source revealed.

“Drake’s still devastated by his breakup from Rihanna and is hoping that this will get under her skin.”

The only thing that might get under Rihanna’s skin is having to watch Taylor Swift on television day in and day out.

Swift’s Instagram is cute.

Her Twitter is pithy.

All of her cat videos are to die for, to be honest.

But a 24-hour Taylor Swift television channel?

Guess we’ll just have to see how this one plays out.

(Hint: with cats, please. Lots and lots of cats.)

Leah Messer Reunites With Daughter, Announces YouTube Channel

It’s an exciting time in the life of Leah Messer.

The premiere of Teen Mom 2 Season 8 is right around the corner and after a tumultuous two years, this season could serve as sort of redemption tour for Leah.

One of the low points last year came when Leah lost custody of her two daughters with Corey Simms.

After a lengthy and frequently ugly court battle, Messer regained partial custody, but her two oldest daughters still split their time between her home and the home shared by Simms and his wife, Miranda.

Leah also shares custody of her youngest daughter, Adalynn, with her second husband, Jeremy Calvert.

Due to the itinerant nature of Calvert’s job, Adalynn spends more time living with Leah than her other daughters do, but based on her latest Instagram post, it seems she was recently reunited with her youngest:

“I have missed alll my babies!” Leah captioned the above collage.

“I can’t wait to see the twins!” she added.

Even though the season hasn’t premiered yet, the ladies of Teen Mom 2 recently assembled in New York to film the show’s annual reunion special.

It seems that Leah had all three of her daughters stay with their dads while she was out of town.

Now, she’s back home, and it seems that’s not the only exciting news for Ms. Messer this week:

Yes, it looks as though Leah is starting a YouTube channel.

The comments on the above introductory video have been overwhelmingly supportive, and the most common suggestion has been for Leah to simply vlog about her day-to-day life.

A couple folks expressed surprise that with their popularity on social media, the ladies of TM2 don’t all have YouTube channels already.

It’s possible there’s a reason for that the ladies aren’t sharing with us.

For example, it might be no coincidence that Leah is announced her channel just after filming for Season 8 wrapped up.

She and the rest of the cast could be contractually prevented from posting too much in the way video content online during the months when they’re making the show.

Or maybe the idea just popped into Leah’s mind and she’s about to become a total trend-setter.

Either way, watch Teen Mom 2 online to hold you ever until her first upload.

Dave Schwartz Dies; Weather Channel Meteorologist Was 63

Dave Schwartz has lost his battle with cancer.

The Weather Channel meteorologist, who has defeated that horrible disease two times in the past, was 63 years old.

“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness to let you know that Dave Schwartz has passed away,” the Weather Channel said in a statement on Facebook.

“He was a fan and staff favorite because he so obviously loved what he did and had a unique ability to draw viewers into the fascinating world of weather.”

Concluded the emotional message:

“His passion for weather was contagious and inspired many to enter the field of meteorology. His passion and love of weather will never be forgotten, he will be greatly missed.”

About a decade ago, Schwartz was given just a year to live after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

According to the station, he then suffered through an unsuccessful procedure to remove a tumor.

However, after radiation and chemotherapy treatments and another procedure, he was deemed cancer free.

Months later, though, his pancreatic cancer had returned… yet he found a treatment and became cancer free once more.

Last year, the beloved weatherman was diagnosed for a third time.

After taking some time off and after receiving comments and messages of support from viewers, he addressed his battle with the illness on air.

“I want to let you know the reason why I have lost 35 pounds in the last five months is that I am being treated for cancer,” he said on World Cancer Day in February.

“Stomach cancer, of all things for a foodie.”

Schwartz went on to discuss his experience in detail, aiming to give fellow cancer fighters hope.

His co-workers at the Weather Channel remember him as “the most creative personality to ever appear on The Weather Channel.”

Here is what Jim Cantore had to say upon his passing:

“Everything was genuine about this wonderful man. He was everybody’s friend and that’s what he really wanted to be.

“He made so many of us laugh, smile, and wish we were like him. He was so genuine and trustworthy – things that come from the soul and cannot be taught …

“I’m so thankful he was on our team doing what he loved till the end of his time.”

Phil Robertson Slams Miley Cyrus, The Weather Channel

Phil Robertson is at it again.

Over the years, the Duck Dynasty star has made his feelings very well known when it comes to atheists and also when it comes to homosexuals.

He got himself suspended by A&E back in 2013 for remarks he made regarding the latter group of individuals.

And now Robertson is back in the news for saying some very mean stuff about a wide variety of people and… television networks?!?

Later this week, Robertson’s religion-themed documentary, Torchbearer, will debut at the Cannes Film Festival later.

In anticipation of the release, a trailer has hit the Internet that implies Miley Cyrus is actually one of the film’s subjects, as she appears on-screen while Robertson talks about “moral decay.”

What, exactly, is this a reference to? Why is Cyrus being cited as an example?

“Our [Founding Fathers] said once your religion goes, then your morality goes, then your freedom goes, and you see with Bernie Sanders they’re wanting to get rid of the Republic and replace it with socialism,” Robertson told The Hollywood Reporter in response to a question about Miley.

And he was only getting started.

“America is floundering in sin, and I know that’s a unique word in your part of the country,” he added, speaking of Tinseltown.

Robertson went on to say that Miley promotes “decadence,” as do many others in Hollywood.

He doesn’t have time for anyone who can’t see the problem with this lifestyle.

“If you got an argument in favor of decadence, then give it to me,” he says.

With what else does Robertson take issue?

“Matt Dillon, U.S. Marshall – ‘Gunsmoke,’ and John Wayne and the Western Channel.

“Also the Weather Channel to see what the Doppler radar is telling me.”

What? What? Why?!?

You have to remember, I’ve never turned on a computer and I don’t own a cell phone,” Robertson notes. “So, dude, you’re reaching way down in the woods.”

In conclusion, Robertson says he’s just trying to be there for his fellow man.

He has no regrets about his past comments or his past behavior.

“I used to get high, drunk and laid with the worst of ’em. I did it for 28 years. It’s not like I’ve never been on the other side,” he says.

“I lived a very sinful life ’til I ran up on Jesus. Now I’m just trying to help my neighbor out. Why don’t we love God, love each other and do what’s right?”

Nick Wiltgen, Weather Channel Meteorologist, Dead of Apparent Suicide

Nick Wiltgen, a senior digital meteorologist at The Weather Channel, was killed in a car crash inside an Atlanta mall parking garage on Sunday evening.

He was 39 years old.

According to the police report, Wiltgen drove his Volkswagen convertible “at a high rate of speed” through the wall of this garage, passing away at 5:30 p.m. of cranial trauma.

Tami Sedivy-Schroder of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office says that “evidence gathered in the investigation indicated it was a suicide.”

Wiltgen became a part of The Weather Channel team as a radio forecaster in 2001 after graduating from the University of Nebraska.

Fellow meteorologist and Weather Channel colleague Jim Cantore mourned Wiltgen’s passing on Twitter last night.

“We lost part of our TWC family,” Cantore wrote, referring to Wiltgen as “a wonderful man and one of the best meteorologists I’ve ever known.”

Al Roker of The Today Show also chimed in via Twitter with a message of shock and grief, writing:

“Thoughts and prayers to Nick Wiltgen’s family. Such a part of @weatherchannel His smile, expertise and camaraderie will be missed.”

In his final professional act, Wiltgen helped write a roundup of snowstorm news published Sunday morning.

Cameron Clayton, the president of product and technology at The Weather Company, said in a statement that Wiltgen was a “treasured member” of the channel’s staff.

We send our condolences to his friends, family members and loved ones.

Michael Galeota Dies; Disney Channel Star Was 31

Michael Galeota – the actor best known for his starring role on the Disney Channel series The Jersey – has passed away at the age of 31.

Michael Galeota

The cause of death is not known at this time.

Galeota had reportedly been suffering from hypertension, high cholesterol and diverticulitis at the time of his untimely passing.

Authorities reportedly believe the former actor died from “natural causes,” so it’s not clear what role any of those conditions played.

According to TMZ, neither foul play nor drug abuse is thought to have played a role in Galeota’s passing, however.

Friends say he had a history of failing to follow through with medical advice.

Though best known for his performance on The Jersey, which ran for three seasons from 1999-2004, Galeota appeared in dozens of projects during his adolescent years.

Galeota’s resume includes small parts in several films, as well as TV.

He landed a recurring spot on Ally McBeal as the younger version of Gil Bellows’ character, and a performance on ER at the height of the medical drama’s popularity, among other roles.

While he unfortunately joined the ranks of child stars whose careers faltered when they reached adulthood, Galeota remained a popular and well-liked figure amongst SoCal actors.

When friends were unable to reach him over the weekend, one of them decided to climb through the window of Galeota’s Glendale home, where his body was found.
