Dancing with the Stars Recap: Who Survived Disney Night?
Disney Night switched up the dynamics on Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars.
It allowed the “stars” to dress up in their favorite Disney-inspired costumes, but was it enough to keep them dancing for another week?
Let’s run down the performances, shall we?
Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten Foxtrot – “Just Around the Riverbend” from Pocahontas
Alexis and Alan turned up the heat Monday night with one of the most elegant foxtrots in the history of the series.
Their chemistry was off the charts, and while you could tell they were getting closer than ever, there was definitely an element of ambiguity about whether they could get closer.
Alexis has proven she’s flexible and that worked in her favor during this unique dance.
Judges’ Score: 29/30
Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke – Viennese waltz – “Gaston” from Beauty and the Beast
Juan Pablo wowed the crowd, and we’re not talking about with his dancing skills. He’s been doing that for the last month.
Instead, he went with a ponytail for his Viennese Waltz, and it looked pretty awesome. He’s already had a perfect score, so the only way was really down for him.
Judges’ Score: 29/30
DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold – Charleston – “A Star is Born” from Hercules
DeMarcus continued to go from strength-to-strength Monday night, and that’s about the best you can expect from this stage of the competition.
Instead of having Lindsay lead him, the shoe was on the other foot, and it benefited them greatly. There was a high-octane lift that shocked just about everyone.
Judges’ Score: 26/30
Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe – Jazz – “When Will My Life Begin?” from Tangled
After several weeks of improvement, it became as clear as day that the magic was running out for Evanna. By this stage, they should be offering a lot more than they are giving.
They tried to steer clear of heights, and that was rather problematic when you had everyone else scaling new heights.
Judges’ Score: 24/30
Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson – Jive – “Zero,” from Ralph Breaks the Internet
Forget about Ralph breaking the internet. Joe is going to if he continues on the show for much longer. Joe is battling nerves because he feels like the novelty act, and in a sense, he is the novelty act.
He’s being kept by Bachelor Nation, and his dancing is just not up to scratch. Jenna questioned whether his issue was skill or will, and that’s going to cause a lot of issues down the line.
The dance was beyond terrible and it reflected in the scores. Bachelor Nation, if you’re reading this, put him out of his misery.
Judges’ Scores: 17/30
Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber – Contemporary – “Reflection,” from Mulan
Mary always has a story for viewers that packs an emotional punch prior to her dance routines, but all of the emotion was saved for the routine this week.
The dance was flawless, and she admitted that the competition was changing her, so there’s that.
Judges’ Score: 25/30
John Schneider and Emma Slater – Quickstep – “I Wanna Be Like You,” from The Jungle Book
John has been all over the place since he first appeared on the show. He’s circled the drain several times, but for some reason, he’s started rising up the leaderboard.
He and Emma turned in a solid Quickstep, but there were still a lot of issues. At times, John looks too wooden to take seriously.
Judges; Score: 24/30
Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess – Waltz – “Part of Your World,” from The Little Mermaid
Sharna dressed up as Princess Ariel, and that was about all she cared about. Just kidding, she went with the Waltz, and it showed that there could be some life left in Bobby yet.
It was not without its flaws by any means, but it was still a decent routine. The chances of these two making it much further into the competition are slim, however.
Judges’ Score: 21/30
Milo Manheim and Witney Carson – Quickstep – “Incredits 2,” from Incredibles 2
The quickstep looked good on Milo and Witney. They looked impressive as they strutted their stuff around the ballroom.
Len was unimpressed that there was a lack of body contact and voted accordingly.
Judges’ Score: 27/30
At the end of the night, nobody was actually eliminated, but we did learn that DeMarcus and Lindsay and Alexis and Alan were in jeopardy.
That means everyone gets to dance on Halloween night!

Caroline Sunshine: From The Disney Channel to... The White House?!?
For the past several weeks, the Donald Trump administration has been under a set of storm clouds.
(Or Stormy clouds, some might say.)
But a bit of sunshine is officially on the way, news outlets surprisingly report. Literally!
That’s because Caroline Sunshine, a former Disney Channel star, is now a member of the White House press team.
The 22-year old recently worked as an intern at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue — but she’s best known to entertainment fans for having starred opposite Zendaya as Tinka Hessenheffer in Shake It Up, a Disney Channel series about teen dancers that ran from 2010 to 2013.
She was also in the 2010 movie Marmaduke, among other roles.
Said White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters to CNN in a statement about Sunshine:
“Caroline Sunshine was a White House intern. In college, she was involved with the American Enterprise Institute and an active member of her school’s Model United Nations team.
“Prior to her internship at the White House, Caroline interned for the Office of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the College Republican National Committee and the California Republican Party.”
In other words:
It makes sense that Caroline Sunshine would currently be trending because you don’t see this sort of career transition very often…
… but make no mistake:
She has earned her spot. She has experience.
Sunshine doesn’t exactly have the ear of President Donald Trump; not yet at least.
She works as a press assistant, whose main job is to provide administrative support for the entire White House communications department.
This includes press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders (who has her own assistant), three deputy press secretaries and three assistant press secretaries.
The ex-actress is pretty far down on the administrative rung, but at least she’s starting to climb the ladder.

For the most part, press assistants send out White House news releases… wrangle the media, taking them from one event to another… and set up briefing calls.
Sunshine won’t have access to classified documents or anything, but she’ll play a role in making sure the White House machine continues to function everyday.
Caroline has not yet commented on her new role or on the attention she has received as a result of it.
Aside from the credits listed above, she has appeared in such films as The Outfield, Go Four Broke and Mommy, I Didn’t Do It.

Adam Hicks: Disney Star Arrested After String of Armed Robberies!
It wasn’t that long ago that we openly wondered if Adam Hicks was the next big Disney star.
Hicks was one of the stars of Lemonade Mouth. His costar Hayley Kiyoko is now a successful singer and an LGBT icon. His costar Naomi Scott is a successful actress, playing a Power Ranger in the 2017 film and playing Princess Jasmine in Disney’s new live-action Aladdin.
Adam Hicks, however, has been arrested — for suspicion of committing a string of armed robberies.
25-year-old former Disney star Adam Hicks and a 23-year-old reported to be his girlfriend, Danni Tamburo, have been arrested.
Police believe that the couple committed a series of armed robberies in Burbank, California.
The couple were picked up on Wednesday. Bail for each of them has been set at $ 350,000.
On Thursday, Sgt. Derek Green of Burbank Police told EW that Adam Hicks “was arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with a string of armed street robberies that occurred yesterday morning.”
Reportedly, a 52-year-old man was walking in Burbank when he was accosted by “a male armed with a handgun,” who demanded the man’s wallet.
Police believe that this armed man was Adam Hicks.
The victim got away safely.
But the armed robber wasn’t done. There were three more armed robberies within the same area, which apparently took place while police were investigating the first one.
That’s a lot of gun-pointing and money-stealing in a very brief window of time.
In case you’re wondering what role Danni Tamburo is meant to have played in all of this, police believe that she was driving the vehicle during the robberies.
Based upon the statements from investigators, it sounds like Tamburo drove up on people who were walking alone, Hicks got out and robbed them at gunpoint, and then Hicks jumped back into the car and they drove off in search of the next victim.
That is, again, based upon what police have revealed. It’s all allegations at the moment. But also serious allegations.
Police identified the suspects through their car (a dark-colored Kia, which I would never be able to identify which would make me a terrible witness to a crime) and, once they found the vehicle, that led them to further evidence.
“Officers found property with the vehicle belonging to one of the robbery victims, and additional stolen property in a nearby area.”
Normally, when we talk about Disney stars “gone bad,” people are talking about a few different things.
-Someone who’s developed behavioral problems or perhaps psychiatric issues and might be drinking too much or breaking minor laws.
-Someone who’s a grown adult and no longer dressing like a grown adult and therefore people are shaming that actress for having a body and perhaps even having a sex life.
-Someone who finds religion in a very impolite way, and turns their back on everything and everyone who got them to where they are in the world and also on their fans because their love for Scientology or Jesus or Buddhism now somehow makes them hate everything else.
-Somebody who’s just being rowdy and entitled and a prima donna because they were a big star in their tweens.
What Adam Hicks is accused of doing is … something of an outlier.
Armed robberies by former actors happen, but they’re usually years and years after that person last acted.
(A whole bunch of former Power Rangers actors have ended up dead or in prison, to the point where people joke about there having been a curse)
But Adam Hicks is still on a show, Freakish. It’s a Hulu original and the second season premiered … three months ago.
Some shows pay better than others, but why and how is he so hard up for cash that he’s allegedly robbing people when he’s unlikely to make more than a few hundred dollars off of it?
We have to imagine that there’s more to this than we know.
