Pete Davidson Apologizes To Dan Crenshaw on "SNL"
Pete Davidson addressed his controversy head-on last night by apologizing to Dan Crenshaw in person and on ‘SNL.’ The war veteran and Republican Politician appeared Weekend Update with Pete Davidson where Pete sincerely apologized to Dan, and Dan…
Pete Davidson: I"m Sorry I"m Such a Jackass, OK?!
So a lot of people haven"t been too into Pete Davidson lately.
Well, a lot of people haven"t been into Pete Davidson for a long time, but let"s just focus on what"s been going on lately, OK?
His breakup with Ariana Grande has quite a bit to do with this — she has a lot of really hardcore fans, and they"re not happy with him right now.
But even besides all the Ariana drama, he"s gotten a ton of backlash for some jokes he made about Dan Crenshaw last week on Saturday Night Live.
In case you missed this story and also don"t keep up with politics, Dan Crenshaw is a Congressman-elect from Texas.
He"s also a veteran who wears an eye patch because his eye was destroyed in combat.
Last week during the Weekend Update segment, Pete was mocking the appearance of several candidates in the midterm elections.
And when Crenshaw came up, he said that he looked like "a hit man in a porno movie."
"I"m sorry," he continued, "I know he lost his eye in war or whatever. Whatever."
Except to many people, it was not whatever.
Pete got a whole lot of hate for his comment, which was definitely fair.
As Crenshaw himself tweeted, SNL should recognize "that vets don"t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes."
It was honestly a pretty big controversy last week.
So what about this week?!
Pete showed up on Weekend Update once again, this time to apologize.
"I mean this from the bottom of my heart," he explained, "it was a poor choice of words."
"The man is a war hero and he deserves all the respect in the world, and if any good came of this, maybe it was that for one day the left and the right came together to agree on something: that I"m a dick."
At that point, Dan Crenshaw showed up and asked "You think?"
Pete apologized directly to him, and he accepted it — it was a genuinely nice moment.
But then Crenshaw"s phone started ringing with an Ariana Grande song as his ringtone.
And that"s when things got beautiful.
The song played for a bit, and then Pete told him that to get him back for what he said during the last episode, he could check out a picture of him and mock his appearance.
When they pulled up a photo of Pete, Crenshaw said that he looked like "if the meth from Breaking Bad was a person."
Next, he said he looked like "a troll doll with a tapeworm," and then "Martin Short from Santa Clause 3."
For that one, he added that "one of those people was good on SNL," meaning Martin Short, obviously.
To wrap things up, Crenshaw gave a serious message about what this whole scandal could teach us all — how important it is to respect veterans.
And at the end of the video, when the audience was applauding, you can hear Pete lean in and tell him "you"re a good man."
So everything"s been settled, right?
Is Pete likable yet?

Pete Davidson Makes Worst Joke of the Year on SNL
Heading into Saturday Night Live this weekend, a nation waited with anticipation over what Pete Davidson would say about his break-up with Ariana Grande.
The comedian and the singer dated for a whole few weeks earlier this summer prior to getting engaged, public displaying tons of affection — and then splitting about four months later.
Grande was so prepared for some jab at her expense on air that she actually released a track just before SNL aired that beat Davidson to the punch, referencing him and other exes as well.
So… what did Davidson say about the pop singer during his stint on Weekend Update?
"I know some of you are curious about the break-up, but the truth it"s nobody"s business, and sometimes things just don"t work out, and that"s OK," he told viewers, concluding of Grande:
"She"s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now please, go vote on Tuesday."
That was it, meaning Davidson avoided controversy and actually came across looking very well, right?
Oh, no. Oh, so VERY wrong.
Earlier in the segment, Davidson sat behind the Weekend Update desk and mocked the appearance of a congressional candidate whose eye was destroyed while he served in Afghanistan.
"This guy is kinda cool, Dan Crenshaw," Davidson said alongside a photo Crenshaw, a Republican.
He continued:
"You may be surprised to hear he"s a congressional candidate from Texas, and not a hit man in a porno movie."
"I"m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever," he added. "Whatever."
Not exactly whatever, Pete, the entire Internet basically said at once.
You thought it was worth making a pirate joke at a veteran"s expense simply because he wears an eye patch?
That"s both offensive and just plain lazy.
"Good rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended," Crenshaw himself Tweeted in response.
"That being said, I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don’t deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes."
There was also this response from National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jack Pandol:
"Getting dumped by your pop star girlfriend is no excuse for lashing out at a decorated war hero who lost his eye serving our country.
"Pete Davidson and NBC should immediately apologize to Dan, and to the millions of veterans and military families who tune in every weekend — because they"re not laughing."
As of this writing, neither Davidson nor NBC has issued said apology.

Ariana Grande to Pete Davidson: Wrote You a New Song, Loser!
Why has everything with Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson always happened so fast?!
Their engagement, their breakup, the backlash from the breakup …
It’s like everything has been happening in warp speed.
Do they exist in some slightly different universe in which time moves at a different pace?
Does being young and famous really make you wild and free enough to feel comfortable getting engaged to someone after a few seconds of dating?
It’s hard to say what exactly has been going on, but boy, it sure has been a lot.
As we all remember, Ariana and Pete got engaged in June after a few weeks of dating.
They moved in together, they got tattoos together … like we said, it’s been a lot.
Things seemed to be going great for them for a while, but last month, they suddenly split.
At first, reports claimed that nothing major had happened between them, that they simply realized the timing wasn’t right.
One would also imagine that the death of Mac Miller was so hard on Ariana that it must have been tough on their relationship.
So it was a sort of amicable, “maybe we’ll get back together someday” kind of breakup, right?
Yeah, not so much.
Things took a swift turn a few days ago when Pete made a joke about Ariana in a Saturday Night Live promo.
Well, sort of — in the promo, he proposed to the musical guest of the week, Maggie Rogers, because he moves so fast in relationships, get it?
It didn’t seem like a dig at her at all, but still, she wasn’t too happy to hear about it.
“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” she tweeted after seeing the clip.
She followed that up with “Thank u, next,” which is already becoming iconic …
BECAUSE THAT’S THE NAME OF HER NEW SONG AND ALBUM!
Yep, Ariana just released her last album, Sweetener, in August, but she’s already working on her next one, which, as we said, will be titled Thank U, Next.
And last night, just a few minutes before Saturday Night Live began airing, she released the title track.
The shade, right?!
In the very first verse, she name drops four of her exes, including Pete, because the girl is simply not holding back.
Let’s just check it out in all its glory, OK? Here goes:
Thought I’d end up with Sean / But he wasn’t a match
Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh
Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful
Wish I could say “Thank you” to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel
She sang that one of those exes “taught me love,” one “taught me patience,” and another “taught me pain.”
If she’s going in order, she means that Big Sean taught her love, Ricky Alvarez taught her patience, and Pete taught her pain.
She could mean something different, of course, and it’s definitely possible that Mac Miller was the one who taught her pain, considering his heartbreaking addiction and subsequent death.
But what’s neat about this song is that it isn’t a diss track at all.
As she explains it in the lyrics, “I’ve loved and I’ve lost, but that’s not what I see / So look what I got, look what you taught me.”
In the chorus, she sings “I’m so f-cking grateful for my ex,” which is really the whole vibe of this song.
Well, that, and getting into another relationship now — this time, one with herself.
After releasing the song, she hopped back on Twitter to discuss things with her fans, because she’s a doll like that.
According to her, this song contains “no drags…. no shade….. just love, gratitude, acceptance, honesty, forgiveness … and growth.”
We can’t wait to see what’s next from her!

Ariana Grande vs. Pete Davidson: Whose Side Should You Take In This Ugly Breakup?
From the very beginning, many of us predicted that the Ariana Grande-Pete Davidson romance wouldn"t last very long.
But even the most skeptical among us never thought it would flame out this quickly and in such spectacular fashion.

Ariana Grande: Pete Davidson Is a Selfish Assh-le!
For nearly three weeks after Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson broke up, both parties managed to keep any hard feelings toward one another under wraps.
But last night the dam broke in a big way, confirming earlier reports that Pete and Ariana did not part ways on good terms.
The airing of grievances began in unexpected fashion with a promo for this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live.
Standing alongside host Jonah Hill and musical guest Maggie Rogers, Davidson cracked a joke about his famous tendency to jump the gun when it comes to popping the question.
Take a look:
No doubt it hit a little close to home for Ariana, but ultimately, Davidson himself was the butt of the joke, not Grande
But Ariana didn’t see it that way, and she vented her frustrations on Twitter to the amusement of her massive, largely Pete-hating fan base.
“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh … thank u. next,” Grande wrote in a pair of since-deleted tweets.
But while that may be the first time Ariana has publicly trash-talked Pete, sources close to the singer say her inner circle has been aware of her feelings toward the comic for quite some time.
“Ariana is straight up tired of Pete talking sh-t. She left him because he is arrogant, self-centered, selfish and an attention-seeking assh-le,” one insider tells Radar Online.
“Everything he is doing right now just confirms to her that she made the right choice.”
“Everyone told Ariana that Pete was using her for his own career gain and this just goes to show that everyone was right,” the source adds.
“Ariana just wants Pete to go away and her family feels the same way. They just want him to get lost.”
While they may not get their wish entirely, it seems Ariana’s decision to speak out against her ex has had the desired effect in one regard.
Production sources at SNL have confirmed that Pete has decided not to go ahead with a sketch planned for this week’s show that would skewer his short-lived relationship with Ariana.
We guess that’s a victory for Team Ari.
Of course, Pete has made a name for himself by mining the more painful aspects of his personal life for material, so you can be sure it won’t ne long before he publicly addresses his A-list romance yet again.
Ariana Grande BLASTS Pete Davidson: This Loser Used Me For Fame!
Hard to believe that it was less than five months ago that Ariana Grande stunned fans by announcing her engagement to Pete Davidson.
Of course, saying the situation didn’t play out the way she expected would be putting it very, very mildly.
Ariana and Pete broke up unexpectedly last month, and from what it seems, the split was far from amicable.
Now, there are many perks to dating a comedian, chief among them, of course, is the fact that your relationship is sure to be filled with laughter.
But there are downsides, as well, particularly the fact that comics tend to mine the more painful aspects of their private lives for material, which means there’s a good chance that a difficult breakup will immediately become joke fodder.
So it’s not terribly surprising that a new promo for the upcoming episode of SNL finds Pete playing the news about his love life for laughs.
Standing alongside hosts Jonah Hill and musical guest Maggie Rogers, Davidson jokingly proposes to Rogers, who promptly shoots him down, an obvious reference to Davidson’s tendency to move very quickly in relationships — particularly when his partner is a well-known singer.
Take a look:
Pretty harmless stuff, if you ask us, and Davidson is clearly poking fun at himself more than he’s skewering Ariana.
Still, Grande was obviously not thrilled to find that her very recent breakup is already being played for laughs, and she made her feelings very clear with a pair of scathing tweets.
“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy [you] sure love clinging to it huh,” Grande wrote.
“Thank [you], next,” she added.
We can’t help but think “fame” would’ve worked better there than “relevancy.”
After all, who hates being relevant?
But we digress.
Needless to say, fans have overwhelmingly sided with Ariana, with the tweets attracting many references to the spillage of tea and state-sanctioned beheadings.
(We assume that’s what’s meant by the phrase “slaaaaaay queen!”)
And as the details of Pete and Ariana’s breakup are hard to come by, it’s impossible for us to say if it was appropriate for Pete to joke about the breakup so soon after the fact.
But we can say that if Ariana is this thin-skinned, it’s a safe bet that her relationship with a famously envelope-pushing comic was likely doomed from the start.
Again, this argument is null and void if it turns out that Pete precipitated the breakup with some sort of monstrous behavior, but if it was just a standard split, then Ari might have to just come to grips with the fact that the snarky sense of humor she previously found so endearing will now serve as a source of mild irritation.
And hey, if she wants to shoot back by claiming that all that talk about “big dick energy” was just her way of compensating for Pete’s micropenis, we’re 100 percent here for it.
